you still cant beat demon soul with fire bomb nor elden ring
Local man continues beating every videogame which has a throwable consumable firebomb with ONLY throwable consumable firebombs.
Arson isn’t so bad if everything can’t be burned anymore.
Breaking news. Local challenge run develops a taste for arson and goes game to game burning them down
Must be from Florida
Thinking more on it, maybe the local man's wife might join in on the festivities
It’s gotten to the point where not knowing anything about the game is doesn’t matter
If it’s enabling lemons crippling firebomb addiction I can’t not watch it
It's not a Soulslike game without NPC questlines that are absolutely crucial for certain important items and/or endings and yet lock you out for sneezing in the wrong direction.
"Ah screw it, this is a challenge run, fashion souls be damned"
Proceeds to equip the most fashionable item I've ever seen
Oh shit didn't expect a Vigil challenge run from anyone.
me either lol
I honestly thought I was the only person that knew this game exists
Man I love this game so much. The soundtrack and atmosphere in this game are amazing and the whole game plays out like a fever dream.
I feel it’s now Lemon’s mission to throw firebombs (or a suitable flammable explosive substitute such as molotovs) at anything in every game.
Can’t wait to see him do so in a game like Battlefield or CoD, where you’re *very* limited on the throwable explosives, but the objectives can mostly be rushed w/o killing.
I feel like something like cod woudnt be fun to do as it would primarly be running past everything and then getting stuck on levels eere its required you use other stuff, probably woudnt even kill anything with molotovs, as all the required stuff useally has you using required vehicles or rocket launchers and stuff
Going to add firebombs/molotovs to all of my games just because of you're videos on them haha.
You mean to say you are adding firebomb DLC?
Or just bake them in?
I'd argue that if baked in some bosses immune to the DOT but vulnerable to the base damage, and others who do the reverse can add challenge, without making the fire bombs utterly useless.
Heck make one boss take base damage and heal from the fire effects, forcing cluster attack strategies needed.
This game looks dope, if it has more interesting challenge runs I will gladly watch :D
Same
This game is easy af tho. Not a real soulsborne.
@@natel7382 they dont all need yo be punishing to be entertaining.
@@seifer447 sure. Blues clues challenge run incoming. Enjoy.
@@natel7382 I think a good challenge run for you is to not be a dick. Frankly that one might be impossible to beat though.
I definitely appreciate a game that gives you an actual leveling path to boost item power and efficiency.
Thank you Lemon, my days are filled with dark thoughts and pain medication. Your challenge runs are some of the very few things that brighten up my day.
Hey not sure if this helps but listening to music i love really helped me with my depression. In fact it made me realize that there's beauty in life worth living for. Hope you find it too xoxo
Hope your going okay. We share the same pain.
The visuals in this game is honestly really freaking cool, especially the late mid-game bosses. Wouldn't be opposed to having more of this on the channel if there are any other interesting challenge runs. Not familiar with this game at all. Seems like it could be a good replacement for S&S on the channel for now, as long as you enjoy it of course Lemon.
Seconded
Game has great music also. Though, the way background moves gives me a headache, so I couldn't get much far
Glad to see that one comment was right. Lemon wasn’t pigeonholed into being another Dark Souls guy, he was pigeonholed into being the Firebombs guy.
Nice to see someone give Vigil some love, it was such an underrated gem of a game
not gonna lie, i think vigil is more fun to play than salt and sanctuary. it is far from perfect, no doubt about it, too many bugs and broken quests. but to me, i felt like the sub systems were more interesting and intuitive to get into.
@Toan Greenlow it's been on Switch for at least a year. Unsure of other consoles. That's my experience with the game. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Ohhh glad to see the madman can't be stopped! Firebomb Academy best academy!
Also, I do have to agree on your overall verdict on the game. I tried playing it several times, and each of them bounced off to different reasons.
And while additional DLC bosses are nice, I would have loved something more focused on trying to tie together the overall experience and reduce the wild tonal shifts a bit.
Me personally i think it's tonal shifts are great. Too often do we get games that take themselves far too seriously, it's nice to see one that takes itself with a grain of *salt*
@@ariannadravis3934 a bag of salt actually
@@realMarleyMarrow Ah yes, my bad; i attempted a funny on the internet
@@ariannadravis3934 I was joking back lol
@@realMarleyMarrow Oh, sorry! Hard to tell sometimes lol
At this point, I'm just waiting for a "Top 10 firebombs in games" tierlist.
Id love to see and unarmed run. And bows felt quite under powered to me. Might have been doing it wrong tho.
Can't remember if it was nerfed, but the Mechanical bow was broken as all fuck. As in it would destroy almost every boss in seconds. It is a machine gun of arrows and death, if your stamina can sustain it.
Don't let this dude play Dragons Dogma, the fire bombs are insane in that game
Oh really now.
@@TheBacklogs uh oh
@@TheBacklogs oh no he has been summoned. What have you done?!
Ey Lemon nice video like always.
Seeing you speeding through another game with firetovs is exciting.
I see where you are going with the balancing issues. Even the last boss takes a lot of damage from a simple consumable.
Why are firetovs actually that good in sooo much games?
Is that kind of an inside joke a lot of people missed for years, made by the Devs?
Either its an inside joke, or devs have stopped testing consumables altogether due to every gamer having the "i might need it later" mentality. All i know is things burn real good and i wont stop/cant stop.
Would love to see a fist only run in this game. I’m like 4 minutes in and this game has already grabbed me. Got a neat art style
Fists can be very powerful since you can enchant gear with buffs that boost your unarmed damage. They're generally not as good as the other options but if you really want to do fists only you can definitely do it and it's not as much of a challenge run as it would be in most other games.
You should do a firebomb run of Dragon’s Dogma. It is possible and pretty fun. You can throw fire bombs and poison bombs. Everything pretty much dies to one of these two types of damage.
Hadn't heard of this game six minutes ago, how have I already bought it?
It's pretty fun, 15-20 hours to complete:)
Same
Your channel growth these past few months is incredible. It feels like yesterday that I subbed when you were still around 20k. Hope to see this channel continue well into the future!
Shame this thing got removed from everywhere. You would have gotten me to buy it immediately otherwise.
Finally! After all this time i got what i wanted. Do you remember Lemon? It was my idea for you to play this gem.
Mkmkl
I may take a long time to get things done, but if that isnt synonymous with my patience level, i dunno what is.
I loved this game when I played through it. I admit, it has it's flaws, but it certainly scratched that itch while waiting for silksong, and elden ring.
Good to see you play Vigil. Its a game that just needs a bit polish but toerhwise an amazing game.
19:47 why is the mud so hyper-realistic
These new Souls-like games will keep coming out from now until the end of time. He will never run out of places just begging him to come in and throw a Vietnam level of napalm around.
Glad to see someone giving Vigil love...always thought it was overlooked
you know the Megaman Battle Network series has quite the assortment of throwables that count as explosives,
maybe not enough to beat the game in each but i am sure a solution is findable
I feel that on normal difficulty having the game be this cheesable with a coherent build isn't a bad thing
Maybe a frying pan run where you get the good ending in Vigil? It sucks to see you bummed out about not getting it. Though, granted you said it yourself that you probably won't do it.
Firebombs are throwing money at the problem, now I want a game where you literally throw in-game currency at the enemies.
Sekiro has a prosthethic tool that throws Sen (the in game currency) at enemies and it does damage.
Edit: it's an upgrade to the shuriken tool so one probably won't be able to do this run without NG+ or a mod that unlocks it early.
Dmc V have one
Terraria has the Coin Gun!
Some of the Final Fantasy game's have the skill Gil Toss where you do that and 10 has a summon called Yojimbo who's damage is based on how much you pay him.
And what about games that have damage dealing consumables as currency?
Like that one transformation fetishist game that -(is completely devoid of sexual content and thus an utterly pointless and incredibly rare exception)- had drams of lava as currency.
The only reason I even remember that thing was because SSeth had a video about breaking it to hell where it belongs and back again for another round, _thrice._
-Edit: Lucky guess on strikethrough.- Also, it's Caves of Qud.
I feel like this game has the potential for many challenge runs, so I'd love to see more
I haven't played the game and so someone can correct me if I'm wrong. But could hilda's questline been bonked up because you got the three cubes. If you're able to get to the place where hilda should be before getting the last cube. Maybe collecting the last cube was what made her not be there, as collecting the last cube could be a "hidden" trigger that causes the bbeg to infect her which end her storyline where ever she is.
Damn. For those interested, as of fall 2023 the game has been pulled from Steam and Nintendo Estore… some issue with the publisher/developer relationship. But the game is completely unavailable for now.
If the game comes available, reply to this comment so people can see.
The game looks really fun and reminds me of the Salt series which I love. I really hope the game comes back! Until then, I still haven’t played Salt and Sacrifice… so my platformer/soulslike hole is filled for now.
Games back up on storefronts, the devs seem to have gotten full control of the game back. They're even seemingly back to putting out some updates again.
Fun fact: Molotovs are named after the Soviet foreign minister during WW2. This is because during the Winter War Molotov made promises that the Soviet bombers would only be dropping food baskets (take a guess how wrong that was) so the Finns starting calling Soviet bombs Molotov’s food baskets. When the Finns found out that burning alcohol makes a great anti-tank weapon they ended up calling it Molotov’s cocktail because the Finns have great humor
This makes me strongly desire a molotov cocktail-only run in my favorite game, Terraria.
2:15, I think nearly everyone would be agreeable to you challenge running underrated souls-likes
Seeing as Lemon was the reason I actually gave XCOM a chance, I would love to see more games in the catalog for challenge runs. So please more of this game.
Fallout 4, you say 👀
You could theoretically try a molotov-only run (extending to general throwables if needed)... mind you, that could be a *big* time investment.
I’d love to see lemon beat terraria with only mollys, but that’s unfortunately just not possible (mainly due to boss hp bloat and mollys being a early game weapon that’re expensive as shit and not worth it outside of worm bosses.)
Even in late game they're jsut jaut to mess arround with. I like spamming them durring the hoard events while I camp in a safe zone farm
I feel like most of your criticisms of this game could also be fair criticisms of salt and sanctuary.
Does this game have lower lows or does salt and sanctuary have higher highs to make up for it?
Hey Lemon! It's been a few months. Have you managed to get that best ending yet?
Nope, haven't had a moment to go back to this game yet. One day!
It's not perfect but i think that i'm gonna download it again,
For the 3rd time
May finally finish it
Praise the firebomb Goddess
5:56 Well considering Vigil is meant to be Cosmic Horror I'd say it's absolutely intentional
God ****it Tony, this meatbag had to order one, and he's gonna enjoy it!
Adrian Andy, Dylon, Nicholas was the skele boss name
Can we all agree that this voice is amazing :)
When are you beating fallout 4 with only molotovs?
God hearing the GBC pokemon music at the start sent me back to 2002 when I would be playing Pokemon Crystal all day trying to get strong enough to beat Red
Rewatching this later, I forgot about the offer to see a fist only run. I wouldn’t mind seeing that for the record.
Same! Would be awesome.
I like the fact that, apparently, whenever he does a new game on this channe the first run he does is a firebond/flammable whathaveyou run.
I'd watch anything you'd make about this game really. I really liked it even though Hilda also fucked me over. The heavy 2h weapons are just too much fun
I gotta say, the commentary and gameplay really interested me. I'll get it once a sale comes on. Thank ya Lemon!
Love this game and glad to see some coverage on it.
Watching your challenge runs are fun. Hope to see more from this game or others soon.
I had a request, could you do a dark souls 2 run with just the sanctum shield. It’s gimmick is that it’s a shield that can cast sorceries, miracles, and hexes.
Oh I absolutely love this game! It's so nice seeing it get some love. I'd absolutely adore more challenge runs like this; maybe an bow-only next?
I kinda want lemon to play fear and hunger
Local man continues to violate the rules of war
Bondage coat is def amoment of "And now for the writer's thinly veiled fetish."
although I def would probably be in the same boat, ngl, but I would make sure to make that understood from the start. lmao
No fun till we're all on the same page, after all.
Another offering to the Goddess of Explosions, heaped on the mound. IA IA FIREBOMB FHTAGN!
Been thinking about picking this game up, time to find out if it's worth playing.
This game has a really weird art style, like some more of Flash game from like 2008 or something. Maybe its the movements? Idk, its kinda neat.
What's this? A Soulslike(?) game with balancing issues in my favor? Time to put it on my Wishlist.
Fist only run but you have to get the good ending it's the only way it validates.
Is there any firebomb like item in Lords of the Fallen? If so, might be interesting to see Lemon try that out.
Vigil! I loved this game.
This game looks like a dark souls you'd find on a flash game sight, but in a good way. Liie the cool flash game sight the school hasn't blocked yet.
Why does the player character lean backwards when standing still. It’s super distracting.
14:10 Okay, sick! Today I learned that James Silva; the creator of Salt and Sanctuary is also the guy who made I MAED A G4ME W1TH Z0MBI3S 1NIT which is the most fun little shooter with the best catchy song! Turns out that I’ve loved this dudes games for ages and didn’t know! Awesome!
I used to sing this damn song all the time! Hahha
“Yeah
Welcome to my gaaAame!
I put zoo0ombies in it for your pai-ain!
They come shambling out from the sides
You'd better shoot them or you're gonna die!
'Cause I maaaaade a gaaaaaame with zoo0oombies in it!!!
Yeah, yeah!
Yeah! Yeah! Yeaaaah!
I made this game using XNA!
It costs a dollar and I hope you pay-ay, yeah
Yeah, just a dollar, oh, please pay-ay!!”
All jokes aside you should definitely play more of this it feels like salt and sanctuary but with its own feel. I like it
"Kill it! Kill it with fire!"
LOL, VERY appropriate!
also, the "lord of misty lake" sort of reminds me of the final boss of MDK2.
after knocking his health down to zero, he will suck you into his belly, and you have a limited time to attack his Heart, Lungs, and Brain, before he spits you out and recovers some of his outside health. (depending on how much internal damage you did)
That's just like grandma
Do you think the game might be balanced as if you didn't do any optional content, and therefore had no additional levels, that way players aren't punished for missing optional content? Because the story bosses did look to me like they're all fairly linearly scaled with each other, just not with optional bosses included.
I played through the majority of the game without doing the optional bosses and can say that yeah, they are just easy.
Got this game when it came out, and it fun, but in no way holds up to similar games like Salt and Sanctuary. The balancing is absolute trash, like Lemon discovered. Quests in general are bugged, and they haven't fixed it two years later.
Bosses, while having some neat designs, play basically the same. In all my playthroughs, using different weapons and playstyles, I never had to change my strategy.
Story is good and interesting though. So there's that.
Good idea, really bad execution IMO. I don't know why it's rated as highly as it is. Just to be clear, I like the game. It has some great points, especially in how it controls and the overall design. Bosses were fun to fight and beat, albeit not very challenging once you got used to the game.
tbh I like the idea of the hardest bosses being optional. This way "everybody" can experience the game from start to finish and the try hards get their challenges
and bosses being "too easy" for an experienced soulslike and in this case I'd argue especially Salt and Sanctuary gamer on normal difficulty isn't really fair to the game in my opinion. Like your not average Joe who plays games and picks this up but a guy who literally has a wiki for a game very similar to this one and did speed runs and multiple challenge runs on it so yeah. I'd argue "normal" difficulty wasn't made with you in mind
all in all very good video. I liked it a lot! Keep up the good work lemon! :)
I just realized you’ve done Dark Souls 1, 2, and 3 challenges but no Sekiro challenges so here’s an idea, can you beat Sekiro without attacking anything (Deathblows excluded)
This gives extreme vibes of that one meme:
You call throwing molotovs a martial arts
Extremely Buff MC (because they put all their point into HP): Hey, as long as it works
Speaking of Fallout 4, any chance you're planning on doing any Firebomb runs in that series? New Vegas even calls its molotovs Fire Bombs (and they're also the worst grenade in the game by a long shot).
So, keeping with the firebomb and other consumables theming, how about "XCOM with only explosives"?
I adore this game lemon plzz play more of it (only if u want)
Man I really wish you'd make a second edition of the Tony shirt, due to a... communication error, I was unable to buy one. Woe is me, hopefully another will come soon!
more Vigil?
yes please Lemon.
with gravy on the side
Throwing firebombs with Pokémon OST in the background? *_Interesting maneuver..._*
an unarmed run would be cool Yeah
Lemon: "Because that's generally how developers intended their games to be played."
That's the first time I heard you care about that.
@23:46 I raise my imaginary cup of coffee to you for getting such a heartfelt laugh out of me 🤣
Why did it feel like the bondage armor was the 'last straw' to talk about the game 'wasting potential?' I mean it's kind of a weird name but it's fine, definitely nothing worth freaking out over.
Can i just say how nice it is to have a good content creator that dosent click bait or make ridiculous statements. Just shut up and watch. Exactly how youtube should be enjoyed.
Quite the sad conclusion.
oh god, i love this paperdoll visuals from this game, but... this have one diff lvl - hard, and still wasn't too challenging :)
The physco is back lets go
Was the Hollow Knight music at the end an editing decision... or a TEASER!?!?!?
for anyone interested, i hate to bring the bad news but it was completely delisted, and cant be bought anywhere anymore. which sucks because i completely forgot to buy it last year and thought about about it, but when i came to steam, its no longer there...
The boss's name looks to be a composite of Adrian, Andy and Dylon with a lightly compressed Nicholas mashed on the tail end.
FIRE BOMB ACADEMY!! I'd buy that faster than you could throw one!
Not really a hard challenge run if molotovs are actually an intended viable playstyle and not an afterthought like in too many games. Gotta respect a game who respects molotovs.
