If you really think about it... there's not many songs out there quite like it... it was impressive and unique then, and it's the same today all these years later. I will say the same about "Edge of Seventeen" two years prior in 1981. Stevie just had/has that power and that magic. She was definitely rock, but yet she defied the typical song arrangements and formats. I feel that way about a lot of her songs... both solo and with Fleetwood Mac. She took you away on this meandering journey with all those lyrics and those vocal arrangements. Even if you weren't sure what the hell she was talking about, it still kept you intrigued and captivated... and soon it became personal and emotional for you too, as the listener. And, I don't believe Stevie makes any conscious effort to do that with her writing, that's just her own personal style. It's not something you learn in a class. It's just who and what she is as an artist. And how lucky we all are as fans to be taken along for the ride.

I love the story of how this song was written. Stevie was on her way to her honeymoon and heard Prince's "Little Red Corvette" on the radio and was immediately inspired to write this song. She detoured from her honeymoon to get into the recording studio and got Prince's number. They had never met. She called him and told him that she was working on a song inspired by his "Little Red Corvette" and that she was giving him 50% of the royalties for the song if it ever became successful. She asked him what he was doing right that moment and if he could come into the studio to play on the recording. He said yes and was there in 20 mins. He worked on it and played on it in the studio with Stevie and her crew for about an hour and a half, and this is the result. Pretty great stuff.
@@milt6208 Agree for the most part, but there was some good stuff coming out in the 90's. The 2000's is when music officially died. You started seeing a lot of electronic music being made, by people with no true musical talent. Even the vocals was lack luster.
I'd say the roughly 20 years btw mid 1970s to mid to late 1990s was the golden age of popular music, people will be listening to that period in 200 years
Predicatable and commercial In retrospect the self-title "Fleetwood Mac" (1975) in the post-Green, Welch, era. With "Rumours", which doesn't hold up today as "Fleetwood Mac" does, they achieved both critical and commercial success. After that, they gravitated more and more to the commercial.
One of the best synth beats ever made. She called Prince on a whim and asked if she could come over cause she had song idea and lyrics. He wrote this for her in like 2 hours. Amazing.. Prince was one in ten billion.
Close. Prince actually came to her and met Stevie at the recording studio. Here’s the back story: “We (Stevie and her husband) were driving up to San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara when Prince's song "Little Red Corvette" came on the radio. Nicks started humming along to the melody, especially inspired by the lush synthesizers on the song. The couple retrieved a tape recorder and Nicks recorded the demo in the honeymoon suite that night. Later, when Nicks went into the studio to record the song, she called Prince and told him the story of how she wrote the song to his melody. On the night of February 8, 1983, Prince came to the studio and played synthesizers on it, although his contribution is uncredited on the album. He and Nicks did agree however to split the publishing royalties on the song 50-50. Then, she says, "he just got up and left as if the whole thing happened in a dream."

People have driven the word Iconic into the ground in recent years. They call everything iconic. But Stevie Nicks is truly deserving of the word ICONIC .
agree, Most of our ICONs have passed away. The music of the past made ICONS, not everyone is a legend, no matter album sales or award noms. we have very few ICONs left and legends even more so. Todays POPULAR artists won't become legends. Meaning, changing MUSIC, talent and writing and owning their own music and able to play it, write it, produce it, arrange it. ALONE.

😘😎😄🖤💚💙💜❤💛
Have you tripped that the percussive keyboard part he wrote for her eerily resembles the lead percussive riff of "I would Die 4 U...🤔" inverted. 😀
Wow, I never knew that. Amazing!

I don’t give a damn if you disagree the 1980s was the last decade for great music!
So true.
@@milt6208 Agree for the most part, but there was some good stuff coming out in the 90's. The 2000's is when music officially died. You started seeing a lot of electronic music being made, by people with no true musical talent. Even the vocals was lack luster.
I'd say the roughly 20 years btw mid 1970s to mid to late 1990s was the golden age of popular music, people will be listening to that period in 200 years
Agree!
Right On 👍💜
This takes me back to the early 80s, when I was just a kid.
Life will never be the same
I was born in '73...the 80's were a roller-coaster ride. By the time 1991 came around i was already missing the 80's.

My thoughts exactly. Well said
Close. Prince actually came to her and met Stevie at the recording studio.
Here’s the back story:
“We (Stevie and her husband) were driving up to San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara when Prince's song "Little Red Corvette" came on the radio.
This is STILL a JAM in 2019! Done way back in 1983! WOWWWW!

People have driven the word Iconic into the ground in recent years. They call everything iconic. But Stevie Nicks is truly deserving of the word ICONIC .
She's lasted generations & still amazes us all with her talent & music!!
agree, Most of our ICONs have passed away. ALONE.
