I inspected this house when it was sold in 2022. Cannot go deep into details, but it was a nice, well-built home. Not a bad place to live, but it may have sustained extensive damage from the last hurricane, due to the flood zone placement.

Nah this home is nothing special, architecturally speaking. It may be remodeled, but it's certainly not "lavish". The money is in the location. Still, all that money she had you'd think they'd have nicer furnishings and whatnot.
The wealthy judge wealth in stages, just like poverty to middle class. They are in their own worlds and all of them are scared shitless of losing it all.
I can surely understand why Maggie loved being here instead of hanging out at Moselle, which lacked even an ounce of any normal warmth and entertainment benefits, unless you were trying to impress a bunch of men with the hunting-lodge gig. Yes, ALEX invited judges and high-faluutin legal folks to come and enjoy what HE had! Maggie just wanted to enjoy true friends and family. My heart breaks for her every day.

It is pronounced Ed-ee-stoe. No accent on any of the syllables. I don't think "Maggie was in competition with her sister." Her sister's husband just happened to make more $$$ than Alex & was able to have multiple residences. Maggie had multiple residences at one time: 2 houses in Hampton, Moselle, & Edisto. Moselle had 2 houses on it: the main lodge and a cabin. Edisto Beach is laid back and not fussy, hence, no swimming pools. That's what the ocean is for. I spent every summer there growing up. My family had a beach house on the St. Helena sound. Our house was within walking distance of Maggie's.
I stayed on the island in 2021 and saw this home, which Maggie loved and was renovating at the time. It’s absolutely beautiful and it made me sad to see Maggie’s happy place and how she was so happy to be working on it until she was murdered by her husband. I wish she did t give in to Alex’s request to go to the hunting lodge that night. Perhaps she would still be alive.
maggies house was sold for more than the asking price and is booked through April 2025. edisto is a sad place. there does not seem to be a soul to it and the only things that are shoved in your face are about how there was never a decent white man in the area and slaves are the only important thing about it. i live in a mostly black small southern town and was used to being among black and white people on a daily basis. edisto seemed to be mighty white wherever i went. i actually noticed the absence of black people who are part of my usual life. stayed on the beach and saw the dolphins. was glad to leave and hope to never have to go back. i own an 18th century settlement where slaves lived and worked. they are just as important as anyone who ever lived there. they would be insulted by such bootlicking.

One would be led to believe from this little podcast that this beach house is extremely lavish and luxurious - Don't get me wrong, it is quite nice - but folks, this is the SC Lowcounty - take a look at the mansions at Kiawah, Hilton Head, the Isle of Palms, Wild Dunes, Sullivans Island - etc. Unfortunately, a million does not really buy what you are calling excess in this neighborhood. This is the South Carolina Riviera honey, bless your heart for putting so much effort into this video.
They weren’t wealthy? Liars! How many people own what they owned and do what they did! “Did, ” but not anymore! Once in a lifetime to own a notorious killers cottage on an island enclave! Disgusting
People are never happy with what they have. That’s why they get into trouble.
Alex is a hard core drug addict and has been for over a decade. He killed his family and housekeeper for money...Nothing else. I do hope this case will also open the door into the detrimental affects of Oxycodone. I want to know how Alex got so much drugs. Where did it come from? Who was supply it? How was he able to get so much each day? Was Alex a drug dealer too?
Yeah, this is something that's been on my mind a lot lately, especially with all the news recently about entire families being snuffed out in nice neighborhoods by a parent that's hit the wall. For me, the lesson is that all that stuff (material success) really doesn't mean anything, and they know it ( people often accuse me of promoting poverty when I say this, but that's not the case at all. The problem is that people think it'll make them feel fulfilled. I mean these people literally have it all---the family, the house (or houses), the cars, the vacations, creature comforts, and it still doesn't quell that inner discomfort they feel). It's all for show, hollow, empty. There's nothing better than seeing people like that get their comeuppance when they become unhinged as sad as it is. I mean they've ruined everything. It's kind of tempting to send this guy stuff in the mail when he's in prison. Like excerpts from the Name of the Rose. I don't think he'd get it though.
I lived in Colleton county for 5 years and the Murdaughs that I knew pronounced the name sounding like "Mur Dock" and Edisto sounds like the spelling... Edis (sounded like "Lettuce" Toe and I have never hear it pronounced "A Des toe." Just saying. :) Good video.
No wonder whe wanted to live at Edisto rather than Mozelle. Without prejudice, I can see why Mozelle was not suited to Maggies kind of existence. Mozelle wouldnt be my choice either.
I actually was surprised to hear the cost of the coastal home, usually I hear over 1.5 million for a place like that. At least when Maggie went, she had a luxurious lifestyle beforehand.
I imagine it has been restaged. Maggie didn’t appear to be the greatest decorator per Modesto. This place is so much nicer than Murder Manor at Moselle.
