Lastly Filter or Serendipity or Lie and Promise for Jimin?
Korean language isn’t tonal but Chinese is.
In the case of Chinese songs, the normal rules for the tones of each word no longer applies when writing the lyrics of the song. The tones of the words follows the melody rather than their proper spoken tones. Therefore printed song lyrics accompanying physical copies of singles and albums, or subtitles or on screen lyrics on music videos has always been important so that the listener/viewer can read along.
Re: underground scenes (not just hip hop but all musical underground scenes)....
There’s a sense that the underground scene is “real” and “authentic”, unfiltered; and not under the control of capitalist forces, or “tainted” by corporate business that saps away “true” creative freedom producing instead a soulless mass manufactured product. Some people see the underground scene as being more honourable, noble, virtuous, as having true artistic credibility.
When artists leave the underground or make it big, they may get accused of being sellouts, of trading artistry for fame and fortune.
This is what Suga and RM were accused of even in the early days (when they had neither fame or fortune), that by becoming idols they were sellouts. Kpop/idol music industry is not taken seriously by the general public of Korea. It’s looked down on as being for teen girls, as manufactured, as throwaway music. For leaving the underground scene, they were dissed.
To the Kpop/idol fans, certain members were seen as not being good looking enough. For writing their own songs they were seen as being too poor to hire songwriters.
I have been learning Korean for 4 month now compare to English and Swahili that are language I speak Korean is toned language and some word are literally like you put water in mouth and speak

A couple things are a little outdated now, I think. I believe RM renamed his studio to Rkive. I believe there are also many more ARMY in the world now. Thank you for learning about the boys! There are so many thinks you can watch of theirs to learn about them. If you want to listen to their full UN Speech, it is so heartfelt. It is amazing when you start from the beginning and see just how much they have grown and what they have gone through to become so successful.

Korean language actually doesn’t have tones like Mandarin or Thai. Also all the vowels are very similar to English vowel sounds which is why some theorize it sounds so good mixed with English and that English speakers like the sound of Korean so much and vice versa.
I traveled to Korea for the first time without knowing the age thing. I was 18 and in the USA I can’t drink but when I got there because of the month I was born in I was 20 in korean age. I was able to drink with my family for the first time and I thought it was so cool that I was 20 for the 2 weeks I was there😂

When they left underground rap they were seen as “sell-outs” to an industry that has been seen as inauthentic and producing shallow, manufactured music. BTS has transcended that view of Kpop by producing and writing their own music, and doing their mix tapes. Just think about an underground rapper in the US deciding to join a manufactured boy band and the flack they would get for that.

@@oouuitswinky8146 sometimes only, when jhope learn choreography first from the mentor and then teach other members only sometimes...so many things are listed wrong in guide videos or any videos in general 😶....but jhope was in bighit before jimin, so in the starting he teaches some choreography moves to members....he probably does that now too for some parts, but bighit have their mentors too to teach choreo

I think it's worth noting that this video is over two years old and they have grown even more in the last two years - their image, their talent, what they stand for etc. (Just a few examples - RM gave a speech at the United Nations, they are UNICEF partners and they just donated $1million in aid of BLM). I think it would be good to watch some videos from recent years to really get an accurate representation of their personalities. I'd recommend watching some recent interviews in English or with English translations (especially the BTS Carpool Karaoke episode :D).

I just came across your channel & this reaction to BTS today. It makes me happy when others discover how amazing BTS is. Thank you for your videos & reactions! Just so you know BTS is loved by all ages of people around the world which really is remarkable. I love them and I'm 67 years old. I was so disappointed in May because my son & his best friend had gotten tickets to take me to BTS' concert on May 9th in Dallas, but the concert had to be cancelled due to COVID-19. I was so excited about traveling to Texas to be able to see them & grateful for my son for being so thoughtful. Hopefully the next time they come to America we will be able to go see them. I look forward to more of your videos.

- I would highly recommend you the CYPHER series (i guess everyone told you that) for the rappers, and then watch the Cypher Meldey from 2017 so you know how they really are ON STAGE. Studio versions are something, but live it's way better.
Btw today they released a quick live version of UGH and it was really refreshing!! I hope you could see this little part someday!!
- You can also listen to "Outro:TEAR", this is my favorite one from the rappers.
- Also (again lol) during the SUGA part, the music you could listen is a part of "The Last" from Agust D. You seemed interested in the song and i would gladly recommend it. This song is so beautiful and heartbreaking. It needs to be listened. I still have the chills while listening..

You have probably already heard this - here goes anyway. “Idol” means it is a group who sing, dance, rap, and are good to look at. Their genre is Pop. They ongoing training in voice, movement, acting, etc. Usually they train together for 2-3 years before debuting (go public with a stage performance).
I, too, appreciate how the BTS members support each others’ individual performances and projects. It bodes well for a long and successful career together.
From what I’ve seen of “being seen” as a star or idol, I’d go for anonymity.

You’re on the right track about korean being more ‘tonal’ - but that’s the wrong word to use, maybe you’re looking for intonation? Like, Chinese is tonal, where different tones form different words. Korean used a lot of intonation in conversation, and this is largely due to the fact that there is no ‘question form’ for sentences - the only way to distinguish between a statement and a question in spoken korean is by intonation - statements are more monotonous while questions go up in tone at the end (I.e. voices become higher). Also using intonation to emphasise certain information in a sentence is quite common too, so your theory about language having an influence on singing ability may just have some credit, as korean does require more intonation, therefore more vocal cord movement and flexibility. Hope this clears some of it up :))

Not all subs are bad, the ones to avoid are the auto-generated subs. Auto-generated subtitles are not auto-translated, they're basically just "misheard lyrics". Auto-generated subs work sometimes, especially if the videos are in english and the pronunciation of the speaker in the video is clear.
Most BTS music videos have official english translations.
