Agree. I wish more companies that do EA would understand how important it is to deliver a transparent process for the customer and stay in touch not only via text. Snutt and Jace did a great job.
Yes this should be an industry standard. That and the level of quality on launch day to. AAA studios keep releasing half made games. It is sickening. Coffee Stain is awesome and release fully made games.
I've never seen a game company come forward honestly when they're behind, except for coffee stains, I know they've had a few delays but they have always been upfront with why, and with how they're moving forward.
The main reason I could tell that the game was blowing up after 1.0 was that the Reddit sub is now getting filled up with "Help! I can't stop playing this game"
i've forgotten what it's like to be addicted to a game because it's fun as hell and i don't want to stop having fun instead of because the developers are deliberately exploiting our brain chemistry.
Don’t forget the posts about people automating manual crafting by putting something on their keyboard and then all the comments are: should we tell them?
Gotta say their release timing was impeccable. Basically riding the anticipation train for factorio 2.0 and hitting right in the lull before release; I mean when it comes to factory games there haven't been any major updates/releases in maybe the last 6-12 months or so (sure DSP, Techtonica, Final Factory, Crust, Desynced, Stardeus etc. had a few updates but none of those were likely to sink a lot of gametime).
It is not common nowadays, that game gets more popular at general availability release, than on initial reveal/early access release, so it's a great information for Satisfactory.
It should be mentioned that for some of us the game just works. Or Minor glitches. My biggest problem has been doggo pathing. When they get stuck and refuse to move, I use the boombox to blow them onto a jump pad. A really fun side quest, highly recommend doing with a friend. Don't tell my FICSIT supervisor.
same, i haven't had a single crash in over 80 hours played, including probably 8 hours on day 1. i do have the doggo issue too, but i've just resorted into encasing my hub office with windows and having doggo stay there lol i've also had problems with gas pillars still visually having clouds after being blown up, but 0 major bugs which is amazing
Honestly, the moment where Snutt gets distracted by a squirrel showcased the most important thing that Coffee Stain kept in mind as a company throughout all of development. Be human. They always kept in mind that they were gamers at one point too, and remembered to listen to what other gamers were saying and doing about the game. I remember being wary when the Early Access was a year-long Epic exclusive, but they won me over with their strong community links. And even now, after release, they're still keeping to it. Kudos.
I love the small details personally. the toilet flushes, and if you run face first into a full glass window (not a honeycomb window, like the full window) it makes a thunk noise
Guys you are the Blueprint of how it should be done. Early Access sorting out and designing, close collaboration with the Community and listening to the people playing your game. That all led to a successful 1.0 go-live and you right away continue to support the community the best you can. Awesome! THANK YOU! :-)
You have no idea what this game got me through. While I've put over 30 days into this game and have never completed it, I found this game in 2019 when I was at the lowest point in my life. Even before that, I resorted to video games to escape whatever I wanted to escape from. This game has done so much for me and has helped me through so much, and you continue to care about the growing community. Thank you so much for being the best you can be and thank you for making an exceptional game that won't ever not be played
The reception is a direct reflection to the hard work everyone has done to develop this game. Thank you for listening and continuing to innovate over the years to really breathe life into the game.
Legit, Coffee Stain’s community management is S-tier, Gold Standard communication. I wish y’all could be in charge of every game dev company’s community management. As someone who never even used to follow the games I was excited for until updates hit steam, y’all made videos that were engaging, exciting, and as transparent as can be reasonably expected towards the nuts and bolts of the development of your game, and actually got me to follow along with the journey and root for you. Keep being awesome, and keep squashing dem bugz!
Snutt, its not just the game. The game honestly wouldnt have had this amazing community without you (and in the past you and Jace). Best community managers ive ever seen in my 35 years of life. Huge respect to the entire Coffestain team
You know a studio cares about the game they made and their community when they hit a big milestone instead of delivering a big speech about how they want to thank us for playing, they explain how to fix common issues and crashes in the same video as their Thank You. Absolute chads over at Coffee Stain
You know a game developer studio is legit community oriented when they engage candidly with the audience whilst sitting in nature discussing every known issue in a fun way
They should write a book about this development cycle called "how to do early access well". The sad thing is that this type of game will never be as profitable as live service, but we're fortunate enough to have studios like coffee stain who are still willing to make them. Love your players and they will love you back.
Live service games can actually be huge money sinks for companies. A few early examples made huge money, yes, but the more live service games exist, the more the market is split, and the less each one produces. People have neither the time nor money to play several live service games at once, so now you're seeing some high profile failures from companies that tried to jump on that bandwagon.
Depends if they fix their approach to bug tracking / fixing now that release is out. There have been longstanding bugs for years that just get ignored especially in the dedicated server.
Honestly live service or not doesn't matter anymore. Or shouldn't. Prime example, this game has been under development for the same amount of time as concord...
honestly I think there are many devs that care about the game that theyre working on but their passion gets killed by higher ups that just care about the money
@@Creef42069this. Devs care, and I think anybody putting a lot into an outcome ultimately cares. Coffee Stain comes out and says "we care" in a way that we unequivocally believe.
I have a question, I know you have built massive factories in the past. When you visit any of them and pull out the build gun, does your game stutter and sometimes crash when looking around?
Imagine if KSP 2 had the same way of telling how the game is progressing and being developped etc, (if it was actually progressing...) than CSS do. This team is the best
I haven't actually gone back and played in a while, just wanted to say how refreshing the honest communication and wholesome straight forward talk from Coffee Stain is so brilliant!
What graphics settings is he running?? Honestly, I've played "bad" games because the dev team was great. I've passed up "great" games because the devs were so toxic. This is the golden combo of amazing people making an amazing game, and I'm so glad I could witness its growth!
The moment I knew you guys were a different breed of developer is when you guys were having issues with update 8 I believe? Nothing but the utmost respect to the player and communication on what was going on. You guys are the gold standard of developers and something every developer should strive for.
And they fixed it. I remember when U8 rolled out and they transitioned to Unreal 5, I wasn't able to play the game at all due to performance issues. So I just stopped playing and waited for 1.0 and now it's working perfectly.
I've been playing since late 2019, I've never been more excited to see a game hit full release and get the love that I feel it deserves so much. I can't express my gratitude enough to every single person on the team from ideation to development to community presence! Thank you for your hard work and for creating true art!
The explanation behind the numbers is simple… you built an incredibly fun, refined and visually pleasing game that plays like a triple A, but avoids all the unpleasant tropes of modern games and genuinely delivers one of the best experiences I’ve had on a game in a long time. Keep up the great work!
It's good to see that the player count basically exploded. I stopped playing probably a year ago, because the updates kept messing up my game, and my spaghetti factories, so I decided to wait until 1.0. At least I can now experience the new stuff at once.
I looked and had around 1400 hours of play between experimental and early access before I took a break around update 5 or 6. I started watching imkibitz doing a restart and decided to do the same just last night. It almost feels brand new to me with all of the changes, I'm loving it.
We have been playing Satisfactory for many years and each update was just amazing. The communication with the fans absolute wonderful. Congratulations to 1.0 and thanks for letting us know about certain crashes and hiccups. As a passionate DRG player I liked the achievement "Rock and Stone" made me feel warm and fuzzy in my heart when I saw it popping up.
Your team crushed it. This should be held as an example of how to interact with a community and release a game. I have had so many fun hours in this game, alone and with friends. Thank you!
So glad to see this game hit 1.0. I loved it during early access, and put it to one side for a couple years to wait for 1.0. Now it's out I've jumped back in. Me and my friends are having so much fun and we've just rented server space for the next year! It's so much fun, and we're all having a blast. Thank you for everything you put into making this game the best it can be :)
I was a super early adopter and just started playing again and man, this game has come so far. I cannot believe how good you guys are. The blueprint machine is blowing my mind. Every time I think "There's no way I can do that, right?" BOOM, I can do it. Not to mention the game is gorgeous and somehow runs like a dream.
I feel like my story with this game is so... Different. I DID not know this game existed until I saw the 1.0 release on steam. I watched the video on the steam page, kinda felt meh. And went on with my day, but youtube, my saviors. Pushed a very, very good satisfactory youtubers video to me. I was, absolutely hooked. I watched hours, upon hours of early access stuff, and the first bit of 1.0 videos. I squeezed enough money to grab it, and played about 10 hours my first sit play. And since getting the game, I've logged 70 hours (I know, literally chump change. But I've played SO much, still gotta beat it!) I gotta say, I absolutely love love love this game. It is everything I've ever looked for in a video game. That combined with the seemingly endless sentiment for you guys from fans that you are very communicative and listen well to the community, a very rare thing frankly in modern gaming. You've made a game on par in originality and endless fun as "The Stanley Parable." In my not-so-important opinion. I actually mean this when I say this. A 10/10 video game. Not many games immediately earn their value of purchase in one sitting. I had so much fun in the first 10 hours, and it's only gotten better. Bravo, everyone!
Totally opposite experience for me, I was hooked from the time they first showed it off, but I absolutely loved Factorio. There was the whole Epic Games debacle which really soured me on the game, but I saw the video explaining it and Jace just said straight up that they were doing it for money reasons, and that was honest and transparent enough that I was like, "Okay, yeah, if you're going to be straight up with me, I'll respect it," so I have it on Steam and Epic Games now. I'd played it a little through early access, but basically never got past assemblers, refined iron plates was my hard line, I just found difficulty translating Factorio concepts to 3D, and it drove me crazy that it was belts that fed into machines instead of inserters. 1.0 came out and I've given it another real shot, trying to incorporate verticality and making sure foundations are put down as soon as I unlocked them and I've absolutely loved it. Running trains has been a blast, if significantly more time consuming and finnicky than Factorio trains (or any other top down games that have trains for that matter: Workers and Resources, Transport Fever, Sweet Transit etc) but it is awesome to see the network running in first person to grasp the scale. Love the game, it still doesn't beat out Factorio for me (or Shapez 2, that game is an absolute banger) but I love it for what it is, a more casual exploration based factory game than a straight up factory game.
@@Alexander_Grant the only problem in factorio is you can't build multiple floors folded in on themselves, this is the only thing that puts me off trying it because other than that the concept of the game seems great, but being limited to building side by side really hurts the realism.
@@eren8632not having the verticality is not just a downside. Yeah you need more space but space is not really limited and the big upside is that you can just see the entire setups without having to move between any floors. In any case: I highly recommend giving the demo a try, its free afterall :D small note: wait until Oct. 21st if you want to actually start playing factorio, thats when the huge 2.0 update comes out (aswell as a new DLC) which does change the way its played a decent amount.
Thank YOU guys! This is a fantastic game. I'm still enjoying it after more than 2,000 hours and 1.0 just made it all the better. I'd also like to reiterate what others said: You folks have set a new standard for community communication by game developers and all future developers of games I play will be judged against this standard. You have all done an absolutely amazing job and your success is well deserved!
Snutt telling release stories in literal northern forest biome made my day. What I’m missing most is Matternhorn in skybox. I really liked to drink coffee, eat Toblerone and look at Matternhorn in game.
@@jakobhansen1396I was in skånska region this year and basically there are plenty forests that look alike. There something strange in their dialect, but I can’t point a finger on it where 😅
Same here. I bought it the week it launched on Steam with Update 3 and have played it, off and on, since then.. Man, watching the 1.0 Launch trailer and seeing that "Early Access" sign get deleted.. That hit in a way I didn't expect it to. 😅
I wish you and your team the best of luck with condensing the control schema down to a controller. I wish you and your team the best of fortunes with the continued success of this launch. And I wish all of you the best of times as summer dips into autumn.

Thank YOU for not only developing and maintaining such an amazing game, but _also_ for the way in which you did all that. I have never seen any better example of a studio which truly put a lot of value into early access like you guys have. And the game itself... it's a work of art. I just installed a "creative" LAN server for me and my gf to play on, and I couldn't believe how easy it was to set up. It's all of those experiences combined which makes this such an amazing ride.
Watching this while waiting for my tier 3 space elevator parts to craft, inching my way towards 500 hours at the same time. Satisfactory has become the best factory game in the world over the last many years and it's been amazing to be part of that. Thanks for all the hard work you guys do.
No, Thank you! You guys made the cleanest Eary Access game I have ever seen. The Game is amazing and time flies by building factories. Also You and Jace (and Mikael) set the bar really really really hight for community managers around the world. Your Work shows us, that game companies still cares about us players
I wish I could like this video more than once! Playing since 2019 I think, before Update 1, this has been THE most polished Early Access title I've had the pleasure of playing so far. Thank you all so much for your hard work, the great communication with the players, and for taking the time to deliver a fantastic game. My christmas came early this year, last tuesday to be specific ❤ All the best to everyone in the team and be excellent to each other! 😘
I absolutely love this!!!! Alot of dev teams will release and never post videos like this, even if to them it would be "The players can just google the solution" but this video alone making sure everyone is enjoying their game and are able to play it without as many hiccups. Satisfactory has always been in my heart for its community and the dev team alone and will be my #1 game for all of eternity!
I have been actively playing this game since 2019. Seeing it blow up this much is absolutely insane, congratulations to you and thank you for making this game and having the most amazing community managers ever!
Best game dev studio that i actually know and best game too you deserve all the best because yall trying your best for this lovely game push it beyond the limits this game has the potential to beat every factory games created ( ure the first kickstarter that i support i got my pen :D )
played this game on 9.sep.2020 played it without mods, with mods. Now since 1.0 i made a "new world" everything back to 0 and i cant stop playing it again. tbh only 2 games were able to make me play it for that long. I love it. I love everything about it. I always loved the game more and more with every update. I dont have more words than thank you for all the effort you all put behind the game.
I bought this game this first day it came out on EA back in the old Epic exclusivity days… and I’m so filled with joy to have been playing this whole time through every update across hundreds of hours and about half a dozen different save files. It’s been an incredible journey. I can’t wait for this part that’s currently unfolding
Just reported an issue / suggestion with copy/paste display configurations in game. Thank you so much for the game! I've been having lots of fun! Also, just wanted to share... this game is A LOT like my work (Software QA). You look at your factory, and you find something is odd. You investigate. You look further up the production chain looking for places where the problem might be coming from. You find the issue. You investigate how to fix it. Sometimes it's as simple as adding another pump or expanding a single conveyor belt up a tier. Sometimes... it's more complicated. Then, after between 5 minutes to 2 business days, the original problem is solved. Never has a game's name been so spot on to describe it.
Oh shoot thank you so much for extras for us early access peeps. Honestly I feel like just playing the game and seeing it develop and loving it was a huge gift. To receive more still, we love you guys so much
It's been a wild launch. Been here since you guys were back on Epic Store exclusive and even after that re bought the game on steam! Love what you guys are doing so keep up the good work... also when I'm not playing factorio I'm playing Valheim which you help to publish so there is that.
Sadly, I had to part ways with my computer to afford moving out of my parents place for college right before the release of 1.0, and now that the semester started, I cant afford buying a new one, so I'm eagerly awaiting for the console release to play it on the Xbox my friend lended me. I just want you to know coffee stain, that your game managed to make me nostalgic, hopeful, amazed, entertained, proud and happy. And I want to share that feeling with you. Thank you coffee stain for making bad times better and old memories and friendships pleasant to look upon. I will never forget the all nighters me and my best buddy pulled back in high school to finish that one supercomputer factory. It wasn't pretty or efficient, but it was ours and I thank you for letting me feel that kind of pride. Love, Nathan
@ivocanevo I will bro, it's hard, but I finally found a field I truly love and want to dedicate my life to, it was a really tough decision but I don't regret it.
On top of the fact that the game itself it’s amazing, the other main reason I LOVE this game is you guys. Your community management is definitely the best the game community has ever had. You guys have done everything the right way and I really hope that other game companies take notes from the way you interact with your players. Thank you for everything you guys have done to make an amazing experience for us.
Such an incredible journey and launch... I LOVED that dismantling of "Early Access"! For implementing controller support, it might be useful to reference popular Steam Controller mappings to see if there are any good layouts for the default config. The Steam controller's touchpads might lessen their applicability to normal joystick controllers but I believe it'd be worth looking at.
I've only had 2 crashes on my 100+ hour 1.0 save. The stability and and optimisation of this game despite how complicated it is, is mind blowing. A masterpiece of a game on par with the likes of Bloodborne and Shadow of the colossus. Made by a truly brilliant team.
The music combined with the crashes and bugs topic reminds me of a medication commercial where they play nice music while telling you about the lethal potential side effects
Just wanted to post my experiences on the game (Ik bit late, hadn't that much time, but I fell into an endless rabbit hole again while playing the game). My save is now 30h long and didnt have any crash. The only issue I have so far is that sometimes when I open inventories (unf the build gun too), I get a micro stutter. Got used to it tho. And I also wanted to say Thank You, Thanks to the Dev team but also the community ofc. First picked up the game in U3/4 (not sure, but Coal gens didnt need water back then haha) and it was/is an amazing time
I've played 72 hours of this game in the past week, out of the now 420 on steam. Absolutely love the game, and 1.0 just brings it all together. I love how much passion goes into the game from CSS, and how much the community got to play a role in shaping the game
Just shows the power of a good 1.0 release. My issues if you are asking. We are running a Nitrado server. I must admit rubber banding is annoying, not game breaking but defo worth a mention. And note to all players do not touch vehicles! Not even at phase 4 yet, we are taking our time and enjoying it. Looking forward to what ever dlc you do to expand the game in the future.
The enigma (narration) and overcoming the difficulties at start... You created something really addictive :) Thank you for making such an amazing game.
I remember when this game was just starting to get some attention talking about closed alphas and people were allowed to sign up for it. I, quite truthfully, said "I am terrible at troubleshooting and breaking stuff on purpose. I just want to play the game early!" I never expected to actually get in to any of the alphas, but less than a week later I was accepted. Even then the game was excellent, considering its state. However, right after that, it was announced that it was going exclusively to the EGS. I am one of the people who to this day, will fight exclusive deals and I chose to no longer take part. I understand the studio had to do what was best for them and took the Epic deal. No hard feelings. I purchased the game on day 1 on Steam and have never looked back. Can't wait for what comes next. Congrats on Satisfactory's success!
@@CsubAzUrmedve It's ungodly repetitive nature. Building the same thing over and over and over was a complete bore for me. In Factorio, I could build one build, then copy-paste it to expand to the desired ratio. The DESIGN was the fun part. Actually building it was only fun once. Satisfactory had the same loop. Design, build, test, tear down, redesign, repeat until functional. But once that was done, I now had to build 6 copies of the damn thing. BY HAND. It drove me insane. Blueprints help with that, even though they are far clunkier than Factorio's Copy/Paste system and construction bots. Now, I know why Satisfactory cannot possibly do the same, so don't @ me on that, but the Blueprints help, as do Power Shards and Sloops to help reduce building tedium.
im so glad to see a studio putting so much effort for the community and actually do what they say.. thank u for the amazing work and this beautiful game.

I haven’t taken off any work and i’m already 56 hours in …. can’t imagine how high it would be if i wasn’t working 😅
There are 336 hours in two weeks, Ficsit is not impressed with your dedication.
I too have a save with over 100 hours - I did not take time off work hahah
@@xTheZapper it's 224 hours if you consider 8 hours of sleep a day on average
8 hours of sleep? At least 3 of those could be used to build another factory, better than the last one you built.

@@net_nytye_zheny669 Wrong game but you understand
The iron must be made, and that, we all know
crazy that 3 people disliked this video, but I'm sure an automated weapon factory can fix that
You know a studio cares about the game they made and their community when they hit a big milestone instead of delivering a big speech about how they want to thank us for playing, they explain how to fix common issues and crashes in the same video as their Thank You.
We could choose to favor this kind of game over live services.
Money talks
Agile software development + quality communication + proper feedback reception sites
Look at this, Devs actually caring about their game/community, which is extremely rare. Much respect
If they actually cared about you they wouldn't have put it exclusively on Epic for a year :)
@@StargazerTheFurry sometimes people make bad decisions. This was one, so what.

I have a question, I know you have built massive factories in the past. When you visit any of them and pull out the build gun, does your game stutter and sometimes crash when looking around?
It's in the works, what do you think all of those space elevator parts are for?
Sanctum 3 when?
Thank you for this game, ive played it for like 4 years now and i have had so many memories from it ❤
The explanation behind the numbers is simple… you built an incredibly fun, refined and visually pleasing game that plays like a triple A, but avoids all the unpleasant tropes of modern games and genuinely delivers one of the best experiences I’ve had on a game in a long time.
I think a lot of people dit this, including me
the game came out last week?!?!? feels longer than that.
i mean it is 24/7 of playing ;)
Probably just you spending every waking moment building again 😅

I finally got my friends into this game this weekend! So happy to been along for the ride over the past few years and am excited to see it grow!
Rock and Stone ⛏
This dev team is amazing always pumping out amazing updates and listening to the community. Thank you dev team!
Your team crushed it. This should be held as an example of how to interact with a community and release a game. I have had so many fun hours in this game, alone and with friends. Thank you!
Bought it back when Let's Game It Out played it. Absolutely love what the game has become.
But I've played SO much, still gotta beat it!)
I gotta say, I absolutely love love love this game.
In any case: I highly recommend giving the demo a try, its free afterall :D
small note: wait until Oct. 21st if you want to actually start playing factorio, thats when the huge 2.0 update comes out (aswell as a new DLC) which does change the way its played a decent amount.
Welcome to the family :)

Same here. I bought it the week it launched on Steam with Update 3 and have played it, off and on, since then.. Man, watching the 1.0 Launch trailer and seeing that "Early Access" sign get deleted.. That hit in a way I didn't expect it to. 😅

Never had a dev that looked at their error logs sent in by players. You guys are truly a different breed.
And that's the reason why Satisfactory is the only game, where I send the crash reports!
Come on, you havent played Baldur Gate III ? :)
Also many minor firms do this often mate. Plus you know most devs does this right ? There is a reason you get asked if you wanna send a crach error files and such lol.
Seems like you and those hitting "like" dont think before they type/act in this case :)
@@UltraSuperDuperFreaktypically there is at least one layer of technology filtering reports, sometimes multiple. Once filters are set up, it's possible that no one ever reads your crash report.

I think the only thing they filter is whether the error is a duplicate or not of an already know error.
Thank YOU for not only developing and maintaining such an amazing game, but _also_ for the way in which you did all that. I have never seen any better example of a studio which truly put a lot of value into early access like you guys have. And the game itself... it's a work of art. You guys deserve every bit of praise and happiness you're receiving. The game is amazing and your engagement with the community is second to none.

Deserved! All the success, the positive vibes and everything else is the outcome of your exceptional work at CSS.
Thanks for developing this great game! Played since early access and have loved every moment, update and full release!
Best way to engage the community imo. Just a simple video with the knowledgeable person(s), talking about what's going on.
The music combined with the crashes and bugs topic reminds me of a medication commercial where they play nice music while telling you about the lethal potential side effects
Yes, finally they acknowledge that Snutt is a camp counselor!

First picked up the game in U3/4 (not sure, but Coal gens didnt need water back then haha) and it was/is an amazing time
Thanks Snutt, helps a lot! I was happy to be along for this ride, and now we can all start a new chapter!

I just want to play the game early!"
I never expected to actually get in to any of the alphas, but less than a week later I was accepted.
From a Factorio stan who originally hated your game:
Thank you. You really came around. This is a very enjoyable experience.
The only thing that's bettet than one great factory game is two great factory games.
Hated? Why?
Prob due to initial poor optimization
