    Nickel azo yellow is my favorite yellow. It's what I used in my primary palette for ultra light thru hiking. When you're walking 3000 miles in 5 months, while carrying all their needs in their back, one travels a light as possible.

    If you have a magnetic phone holder on a swivel ball, or a magnet pen for picking up dropped screws, you can use it to hold the empty pan while you fill it. Then a tweezer or surgeon clamp (it looks like a long handle scissor with needle nose and locking notches to hold the nose points closed) to transfer the filled pan to the palette.

    There is also a mixing palette available but it is expensive. I purchased a credit card holder from ebay (very cheap) and some mixing pans from Senior art and made my own mixing palette. The mixing space in the Demi palette is too small for my needs.

    Lovely painting💕 Turns out green umber is rather useful after all. The porcelain palette hack is brilliant and I am definitely stealing that idea when I finally fill my Art Toolkit palette. The anthraquinoid scarlet is interesting in mixes, so I think with a little experimenting that you will like it. Also, where did you find an Isaro sable brush? I checked their website, but only saw squirrel and synthetics. Thanks for sharing Ted with us😘

    10:04 a very simple normal fine eraser does the same job, no need for anything special. Only a normal eraser would leave some crumbs behind so not recommended to do it with the paints nearby. I regularly clean my plastic palettes with eraser.
    Another funny hack I have discovered is unused old phone screen protector folie. They are made of some kind of hard plastic and they don't stain, so cleaning is like cleaning a ceramic plate. Just wipe it. The white background is given by the plastic.

    • @BeckyTregear

    Too small to be useful. You have to get into all that trouble to refill it every other day. And it will be literally every other day because you have to wait at least a day for the paints to dry into the tiny wells! So what is the point of getting into all that trouble? (rhetoric question! lol)

    • @BeckyTregear
      @BeckyTregear  Год назад +1

      It is very tiny, haha! But actually it fits perfectly into the Art Toolkit pouch, along with my bigger one, so both of them will be carried about in that. I like that they are so skinny and lightweight, but yes they are a little awkward to fill. I managed it eventually! 😂

    • @creativecolours2022
      @creativecolours2022 Год назад

      @@BeckyTregear The best palettes for sketching when you are travelling are IMHO the small plastic folding ones. Those with the 20 colour wells because they have a good amount of mixing space and if you lose them, break them or whatever you can replace them easily.
      And I'm talking from my experience as I'm painting professionally and I'm sketching for almost 40 years. I had once a very expensive sketch kit, with a brass palette box and the kolinsky travel brushes and fountain pens and all that into a designer bag and guess what. Someone stole my bag! lol
      And that was it... I've learned the hard way that the best art materials for outdoor sketching are those that I won't cry my eyes out if I lose them!
      And of course those that I can throw them in a bag and take them with me without spending hours to arrange them.
