- David O’Mahoney was serving with the Queen’s Guard when he was hit by a taxi in 2011. The injuries to his brain were so severe that doctors encouraged his family to say their goodbyes and suggested turning off his life-support machine. But despite losing the right-hand side of his skull, David has defied the odds and today leads a purposeful life as both a motivational speaker and role-model to school children. Phew! talk about inspirational, i think David is a hero in every sense. He fought adversity right through to the other side where life, although not perfect, became livable again. I sincerely wish only the best for him and a bright future ahead.

All I can think is those poor guys who actually fought for the country, and there's this guy who stood behind the Queen, getting to march the flag out?
It's extremely unfortunate he was hit by a taxi, but he wasn't fighting for the country. He didn't take a bullet for a friend/ colleague.
