    It was lovely watching you create this piece - I'd love to see a more extensive image with these crayons. Seeing the layers come alive when you activated them with water was sooooo spectacular. Thank you for sharing - I look forward to seeing more with these.

      Thank you Janet. For some reason the video quality was a bit weird and I decided to do a full speed drawing this time. But I just ordered a new/better camera which, I hope, will help me do just what you asked. I can't wait to receive it and take it for a spin.

    The colors really pop on this paper and seem to blend out nice even though the paper is not meant to take a lot of water.

      They are lovely crayons. I will try them with the Strathmore mixed media toned paper. I have a feeling they will work better on that one.

    I love using these on pastelmat, it's basically the main thing I use them on now. Not only can you layer for days, but I can use my Museum Aquarelle, Supracolor soft and Albrecht Durer watercolor pencils along with them. Same goes for my watercolor pencils. I use them on pastelmat. The best part is that pastelmat comes in all different colors too.

    I bet the strathmore mixed media paper would work well with these.

      I've never tried the white one. The toned one is a bit too smooth for my taste with these. I like a tiny bit of grain to be able to add more layers.

    Hi, Caran d' Ache pencils or crayons, which would you recommend and why.

    • @Sandrinesgallery
      @Sandrinesgallery  Год назад +2

      It depends on your style and the kind of art you do. The Neocolor II are softer and easy to blend with or without water. The Neocolor I are the wax based one. Great quality crayons, but because of their nature they take more pressure to blend. That said, you can achieve beautiful "rough" effects with the grain of the paper.

    Hey i just watched your video making a watercolor palette with the inktense blocks, did you keep using it? And will you try to make a watercolor palette with these crayons?

    • @Sandrinesgallery
      @Sandrinesgallery  3 года назад +3

      I must say I haven't used it in a while. But I know I'll get back to playing with it. I'm not sure I'll make a palette with the neocolors. First I need to use them more and get more familiar with them. But that's an excellent idea, especially to travel with them. Thank you for the suggestion.

    You are such a talented artist. It's a joy to watch.
    This past month I got some Strathmore mixed media toned paper in tan and in grey. After watching your video, want to try my Neocolor II crayons on them.
    Do you think the Newcolor II crayons are compatible with Dorland's Wax Medium?
    Thank you for another enjoyable video.

      Thank you very much, Eileen. Those are two questions I was wondering myself. The Strathmore mixed media toned paper is my favorite, and I was wondering if it would work better than the Stonehenge that I used. And I also need to test the wax. Since it works with many mediums, I think it should work well with the Neocolor II.

    It says on the tin they are water soluable? I would not say this using these crayons for the first time.

    They are Aquarellable, Neo I are water-soluable.

    • @Sandrinesgallery

      Neocolor II are water soluble and the Neocolor I are more like wax crayons.

  • @jekalambert9412

    Can anyone please explain to me why water soluble dry media is so popular - I don't get why anyone would spend so much time laying down the dry media then wetting it when you could just use wet media and get similar results much faster.

    • @Sandrinesgallery
      @Sandrinesgallery  2 года назад +10

      I think that with the water soluble media people have the option of using them wet, dry, or use a combination of both like with mixed media to obtain different effects. It's not always about going fast, it can also be about the process and what one enjoys using most.

      More control over the medium. Can produce nice art without the longer learning curve of watercolor.

    • @1Clairecijntje

      Also not having to wait for every layer to dry and no color shifts like in gouache, and if using them like oil pastels like DanhArtStudio does, there will be easier blending, etc., and last but not least, the greatly increased choice of papers it can be used on if used with no or minimal water. Very nice video. I will be digging out my Neocolor ll’s again for sure! Thank you!
