Neocolor II have a learning curve for sure. Mine sat on the shelf for 10 years until a couple months ago I pulled them out to give them another try. The one thing I learned right away was that you need very little water to make them liquid. If you use too much water it picks up the undercolors and makes a mess. I do mainly animals and have found them to be my most used medium now. Love your style of painting. You have inspired me to try doing landscape with them.
Thank you for doing normal, and not the best in the class at Harvard. Ordinary me relates wonderful with your exercises. Love watching you videos and live your art.
One of the best examples that I have seen using these. I have some too and have been more of a realism styled painter and thought that this could loosen me up but I only saw a couple of examples of paintings that I liked on RUclips so I was hoping that I would see something closer to my style and I did. They smudge well too. Some put the shavings in watercolor pans so they go further. Thank you for your tips and nice painting.
Thanks for the kind words. If you watch my other videos you'll see I'm the wrong person to ask why you need more art supplies. I love trying them all. So if you need convincing do it because it's fun. I've been enjoying allowing myself to be a mixed media artist so I can use many types of media on a single project. Enjoy!
💥WOAH‼️ Neo crayons on a board?… - I’M REALLY IMPRESSED! Your painting is so interesting. It turned out great. 👏🏼 - And FOR SURE, I’m buying an electric eraser❗️ ha!ha! :D I’ve wanted Neocolor II for ever. 😍 THANKYOU I’ll be watching.
I’m learning to use the Neocolor ii and I appreciate your demonstration and thoughts using them. I’ll be back to watch it again as it is very helpful. These are to be such a wonderful medium, I’m surprised there isn’t more people demonstrating using them. Thank you for sharing your beautiful crayon 🖍 drawing with me 👩🏼🎨🖍. From my mountain top in middle Tennessee, where the hilltops kiss 💋 the sky 🌤, Fran
I’ve never seen these used in this way. You’ve done a beautiful painting and captured the view perfectly. I found the use of violet for the shadow really effective. I was surprised about the snow giving way like that though, but then I don’t have experience of deep snow. Thank you for sharing this!
Thank you for watching and commenting. Snow can be tricky and unstable. I'm always sure to stay away from the steeper slopes so I don't have any avalanche issues.
Thank you for your great video, I haven’t had any training in drawing or painting so I really appreciated you explaining colour techniques, warm and cool placement and colour wheel details. I am looking forward to watching the rest of your videos 💕
Yes. I would recommend a spray varnish. I've been using the Krylon UV Resistant spray to help avoid fading. I've also framed them with simple cheap drop-in frames or I even attempted to make a floater frame so that all the edges of my painting could show.
Yes. I have sprayed many of them with a protective UV Varnish when I'm done. Especially the ones that go to a new owner. So far I've only tried the Krylon brand.
I love neocolor ii! I use them for my.plein air Urban Sketching. So fun! It was nice to see another artist use them too.
Thanks so much. It is fun.

Thanks so much. I sometimes wonder if my art is good enough but then I remember that my main goal is to just to enjoy it.

Thanks for the kind comment Jennie. They are fun to experiment with. I want to try some different surfaces too. That seems to make a big difference.
Great use of this medium, especially in the cold. ❤
Glad you liked it!
Awesome video and beautiful art 👍🏻 BTW the Derwent electric eraser looks so cool 🤣
Try that on Pastelmat! It holds many layers and the colours look more opaque
@@emilyerdbeere9210 I've heard really good things about Pastelmat. One day I'll give it a try.
Oh I felt for you when the crayons hit the snow 😢. So enjoyed your video 🙏

That's great! I'm working on my next video where I used both NeoColor I and II and I still have so much to learn. But it's fun to try.

I just purchased neo 2. Looking forward to playing with my new “crayons’ lol
Sweet. Have fun with them 😊
Beautiful video & scenario. Thank's for sharing!❣ I only use watercolour, but learned somthing to. Liked the el- razor, nice touch trough it all.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the comment.
Great demo - How would you frame the neocolor 2 on ampersand board - can you use spray varnish?
Yes. I would recommend a spray varnish. I've been using the Krylon UV Resistant spray to help avoid fading. I've also framed them with simple cheap drop-in frames or I even attempted to make a floater frame so that all the edges of my painting could show.
Very interesting! Where is this beautiful place?
Thanks! These are the mountains in Northern Utah.
Utah is such a beautiful state! I had the pleasure to visit a few times.
I was just telling a neighbor and fellow artist how much I love using Neocolor Twos. Do you spray your finished art with a fixative?
Yes. I have sprayed many of them with a protective UV Varnish when I'm done. Especially the ones that go to a new owner. So far I've only tried the Krylon brand.
