Well that was different, I haven't seen anyone else do anything like this with Caran D'ache neocolour 2, I just got some... And I also do sewing... Subscribed.
Thanks a ton! I needed to see some Caran D'Ache worked on muslin, for an upcoming project, and found your video. SO helpful. Also your art is so fantastic, absolutely inspired by it, the stitching really brings the piece to life. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed seeing it come together.
I just discovered these Caran d ache crayons. I am so happy to have discovered your video on how to use them! I hadn't even thought of fabric! Thanks for sharing . . . gotta go color now :-)
You can put some neocolour on a ceramic pallet, just draw a dot or stripe, and then use it as if it was watercolour, if you want lighter shades. Also, wonder what would happen if you mixed textile medium or airbrushing medium instead of water. Great technique!! And awesome tip about the muslin! I definitely will have to try this. Thank you so much. 🖤
How fun. I need a day with everyone GONE so I can experiment. I have watercolor pencils and Intense blocks that really want to be played with and these little pets look like the perfect project.
Helen, thank you so much for this excellent video, using the Neocolor II crayons. I had watched several other videos and yours is by far the best, and I got the bonus of seeing your quilting tips and techniques also. I want to paint a book cloth cover, but now I'm inspired to also consider small quilted projects. My only concern is the fabric, so I will have to do a bit of experimentation to see if the muslin I have here in the US will work out the same as yours.
Thanks for the demo & info on using calico. I used seeded homespun, it looks like calico but I got a lot of bleeding when I started using the wet brush. I’ll go back to Spotlight & get some actual calico & give this another try.
Helen, can I do this and thread paint it with no sandwich? I have some artwork I just finished with acrylic paint mixed with a textile medium for a Coptic Book Cover. Thanks, I love your work!!
Just caught your video. Fabulous. I have the Caran D'Ache crayons and I didn't know you could use them like that. My question is, after you heat set them can they be machine washed or will they bleed? I have the quilting machine too and I want to make some special quilts for some of my family. Just want to make sure that there will not be a problem after all that work. Thanks so much for sharing you talents. I really appreciate your work.
@@HelenGoddenQuilts Thank you so much. For the use my quilts would get and the younger generation's lack of caring I think I would not use this for quilts. So with that, I think I will definitely use this method for a wall hanging in one of the bedrooms or my art room. I am very appreciative of your sharing and your beautiful work. It's amazing. Again, thank you.
It will not work the same as I have demonstrated as the Best press will only be on the surface and as the wet colour sinks in, it will just bleed. This technique works on unwashed calico/muslin only.

Glad you approve! I have been doing my own thing with my art for 40years. Glad to have you on board!
Lovely work! Love it. 💖😄 Thanks!
Beautiful! And the BACK was bonus, gorgeous! 💖👌

You are fabulous so confident! I paint I just bought the crayons to enhance my work, you make me feel I did the right thing!

Absolutely love this and it is swimming in my mind all the ways and what to make with this wonderful project❤👍👏😊
Has anyone tries this, if so does the color bleed? Thank you. Helen has taken this to another level, I love it. Thank you for sharing…..

You can do it!
Helen, I love your videos! I recommend them all over the place! Do the Caran watercolor pencils become permanent after they're ironed?
How beautiful 👌
Very cute!
Very speacial❣️❣️❣️
So beautiful! Love the video. 😍
So beautiful!
I Absolutely LOVE THIS!! Thanks for sharing. I subscribed!! I cant wait to try this!!
Because these are water soluble you can’t wash the block? Or do you have any other tips to make it more permanent on the muslin?
Great video - can the quilt be washed? thanks a lot!
Awesome🥰
WOW!!!!❤

Wow❤
Amazing I am just transfixed. I am wondering about washing instructions. I have been using tie-dye and ink intense.
Not recommended for regular washing. Use fabric medium instead of water to make it suitable for light washing.

Gentle hand wash would be fine. There would be a small amount of colour loss.

Oh, how I wish......❤
Wait, can this be washed in a washing machine or will the crayon fade?
Beautiful!is this permanent once ironed?
It is not suitable for repeated washes but after an iron, the colours will not smudge with a splash of water
Is that water to dilute the crayon?
Yes. It’s a water soluble crayon.
Can I wash in washing machine when done? I am afraid I won't be able to wash the quilt if I use these.
I recommend hand washing.
Can you wash these paints if put in a quilt? Are they color fast?
More suited to wall hangings. Use fabric medium instead of water if you wish to lightly wash.
Thank you for your videos!! Can I use something like Best Press on my fabric before I color with these crayons or the Inktense pencils?
It will not work the same as I have demonstrated as the Best press will only be on the surface and as the wet colour sinks in, it will just bleed. This technique works on unwashed calico/muslin only.
Ahh, I see. Thanks for the speedy response! I can’t wait to try this technique! (Plus my 5yo son would really enjoy this process too!)
When you ironed the front how did you get it not to smear everywhere?
Once it is activated by water, the colour penetrates the fabric. Once dry I iron from the back then the front. No smearing.
@@HelenGoddenQuilts ahhh! Ok thanks!
Muslim is a religion. MusLIN is how the fabric is pronounced.
Correct.
❤❤❤❤❤
Helen are they colour fast? ? Could you wash them. Ta
More suited to wall hangings. Use fabric medium instead of water if you wish to lightly wash.
Yo quiero aprender dónde lo adquiero
Thank you for this instructional video! Have you tried a fabric medium instead of just water?
Yes. I feel inhibits the free movement of the colour. They are designed for water. Medium can be painted on top if desired.
Is this washable? It is beautiful
More suitable as a wall hanging.
