Thanks so much for this helpful tutorial. I have these Neo Colors, and love them. I didn’t even think about using them in my new coloring books! Can’t wait to try this technique! Thanks again! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you for the great video! I openend my first box of neocolor II today (84) and I love them. ❤ Very usefull for backgrounds like you showed. I always struggled with those...until now!😊🎉
Whew. That scribbling about gave me the vapors 😉 I am finally braving my neoII and it never dawned on me to use them as a base. I'm still getting used to the idea of basing. I'm going to give it a go at some point though Thanks for sharing your process
Thank you for showing me your tips and tricks. I bought the 15 set of neo2 but have not used them on a picture, now I will. Thanks for sharing. Much love & *Virtual hugs *
Great video! Could I put my Neocolor II's over Derwent Inktense Pencils for a second coat? I do have streaks but am not sure whether this will work for me.
Love these, treated myself to the whole set. I watched another video where that lady took the colour with her brush from the bottom of the crayons which didn’t mess up the point. Thought that was a good idea .
I love the color comb you choose at 8:30. I have the 40 set as well and I’m still learning how to use them. This video was helpful, thank you so much!!
Thank you for this demo! ❤ Can I ask what kind of pens you use on top of the neocolor II's? When I searched the net on info about neocolor II before I bought mine, many mentioned that as theyre waxbased there would be hard to work with pens over them. I had my neocolor II's for a while, but havnt got any pens yet, but would really want some to add some extra details. But would like to know which once would work on top of the neocolor II's 😊❤
Hello. Fabulous demo thank you for sharing and explaining especially about the small dots. These appear in my Kerby books and I was hoping they would disappear but they haven't. Are you recommending to just brush them away once the page has dried ? Or just accept the paper cannot handle the water.
Thank you for this tutorial! I just attempted my first use of these in my first Kirby book. I can see now just how shy I was with putting colour down and cheap with the water! Going back for another layer. 🤓
Thanks so much. I ave the smallest set of Neocolors but never used them. I sure will now. Great vedio , beautiful work. Are they available in open stock?
That awesome! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do ☺️ They are available open stock. I know I’ve seen them on Blick Art Supply in the US and I think they are available on Amazon, but not sure what the prices will be like there.
my biggest issue if i dont put a thin layer of clear gesso down first the crayon just soaks right thru to the other side and my pages get crinkly Also do you recommend picking up from the caran board or applying directly to the paper? Can they be blended dry?
It probably would! I’ve used gesso on a few pages before, but for some reason, can’t use my pencils very well afterwards. It could totally be user error, lol!! ☺️ Gesso works great for water mediums, though!!
I usually don’t prep my pages unless I am working on Amazon paper. If I am careful about the amount of water I use, my pages are ok. A little crinkly, but they still are good to go ☺️ I do know of several people who do prep their pages and I think they mostly use clear gesso or Satin glazing liquid.
Thanks so much! I used a couple books. The one with the seahorse was a Rita Berman book “Die Welt Unter Der Lupe Zu Wasser” and the other was “A Million Mermaids” by Lulu Mayo.
This may be the way my hand is saved! Currently nursing carpal tunnel and so bummed that I can’t color, but I see you do this and have hope. Thanks so so much for showing how these work. 🥰
Hi Cynthia ☺️ Unfortunately there is no brand name listed on my sharpener, but it was a very inexpensive one. Probably a childrens pencil sharpener, but it does have two size holes. Sorry I couldn’t help more!
@@emmyyardley9206 They are pretty easy to use, and they’re versatile. I think everyone has to decide for themselves if a supply is “worth the money”. If you want to try out watercolor crayons to see if you even like them, Staedtler has a Karat aquarelle crayon 12 set for $14 on Amazon and Lyra has a 24 set for $26, also on Amazon(there are other sets, of course). Both sets function just like the Neo’s in the way you use them and the lay down of color, but the Neo’s have a bit more pigment. If you’re wondering if it’s worth the money, $42 for 15 Neo’s, you might think about trying a cheaper set to see if you like them or not and then purchasing the Neo’s in whatever size if you decide you like the medium. Honestly, I have the Neo’s and both sets I mentioned, and the only real difference is that the Neo’s have a bit more pigment.
Word of advice.. just buy better quality coloring books with paper that can handle the rubbing and the water. These dollar rama books just can't cut it.
I sharpen mine straight into a half pan used for paints. Then I add a drop of water and use like a paint.
That’s a smart way to use them too!! Thanks for the tip ☺️
Great video! My Neocolor II "crayons" ;) will be here today!

Thank you so much for this video. I bought some neocolors open stock and had no idea what I was doing. Wonderful!!
Aww, thanks Michelle ☺️

Hi! I like the coloring book that has the mermaids. May I have the name and author / artist who made that book? Thank you!
I find using the Caren Dache pallette helps to get smooth finish without paper damage. It has two surfaces. I then use my watercolor brushes
Real nice colors. Very vibrant colors. Can’t wait to try.
Great tutorial- I love my neo colour ii! Xxx
Me, too! After pencils, my fav medium☺️
Thank you for your video; very informative, and it's quite lovely.

So glad you shared your process; it makes neo ii’s less intimidating
They are such a fun medium to use!! Thanks for watching ☺️
Thank you so much, I have been looking for a tutorial like this!
You are welcome!! Happy that it helped ☺️

I just ordered some. I can't wait!. Thanks for the tutorial :)
Awesome!! Enjoy them!! ☺️
Great tutorial. Thank you. What coloring book are you using in the last demonstration? Thanks again!
@@kp-ew1bn Thanks! I believe it is A Million Mermaids by Lulu Mayo.
So helpful I just got mine an on first try it didn’t work out so well. More confident after seeing your tutorial.
I’m glad to hear that!! I hope your next attempt is full of joy ☺️
Did I miss this? What coloring book was the final 2 page spread from? Thanks! It's gorgey and such cute art too.
I was wondering what that book was too, since this video is 2 years old I don’t think we’ll get an answer lol
This is very helpful... thank you very much!
Great video, thank you! I'm going to try this tonight. Not used my Neocolors hardly at all yet.
I hope you enjoy it ☺️ Thanks for watching !!
Awesome video ! And very creative!
Which pental brush is it ? Like which tip?
Thank you, that was really helpful.
It leaks so much that it makes you a crazy person. Karen from Canada ☺☺☺☺
Beautiful 😍
What’s the name of the book with the seahorse? I REALLY appreciate your tutorial! Diane

I wonder if a coat of clear gesso would help with the pilling of the paper?

Do you prep the page with something first so that water doesn't wreck the paper?

You’re welcome ☺️ Thanks for watching!!
Hi! I just found your channel! Could you share which book you colored the mermaid tutorial from?
Hi there ☺️ Yes the mermaid tutorial is from A Million Mermaids by Lulu Mayo. Thanks for watching!
Hello from belgium, what s the tittle of the first book with mermaid ? Thank you and wonderfull job :)
Thank you so much!! That books is Pop Manga by Camilla D’Errico. ☺️
I was looking for this! What a gorgeous book 😻 I’m buying it RN!!! 🧜🏼♀️💘🦋🍭
Good video-thanks! What book did you use for the demo?

Carpal tunnel is the worst! Hope this technique helps!!
Just ordered these (yikes! Nervous). Do these need to be sealed?
Yay! I hope you love them! As far as I know they don’t need to be sealed. I have never done that with mine.
What is the name of the book.
What sharpener do you use with these?

@@Elmcolors No problem. Thanks!
So glad you made this! I have the 80 set and rarely use it. Really need to get on that :(
I hope it made sense!! They are probably my favorite medium to use!

This is great!?! I wondered about them! Tfs
Definitely less work than pencils, but a bit more messy than your alcohol markers 😉

They definitely are crayons. That’s not a bad thing.
