This band was huge and the lead singer and the band were all millionaires but with fame the singer Charles Negron became a huge heroin addict and lost everything and became homeless but he managed to beat his demons and got clean after years of addiction and has now been clean and sober for decades and doing great now
@@lauriekittle9459 I saw them when I was 12 years old in 1972 at the height of their popularity and a string of successful records. They are underrated because musical history has forgotten them for the most part. Far more successful that most in that period, but forgotten by history.
I rated them pretty high back in the day. Time moved on and music history is forgotten. Thanks to everyone that do the reaction videos do history can be shared with different generations.
They weren't underrated where I come from. You couldn't go an hour without hearing them on the radio. Sometimes twice an hour. They were hot, hot, hot. Still are on my playlist.
These guys were so big in the late 60s you couldn't turn on your radio without hearing them and they had three lead singers and their well is a deep one
Three Dog Night could also rock the house. Their live albums Captured Live at The Forum and Around the World with Three Dog Night demonstrates how amazing and powerful these three singers were together. I love the introduction of the Captured.... Live album. The man says "and now, one of the heaviest bands in the land, THREE DOG NIGHT."
He has such a good rich, natural voice. Not forcing it at all. People back then looked like they had so much fun performing. It wasn’t about looking cool it was about having fun.
No one seems to have thought of another huge hit from this band "Easy to Be Hard" and it is a must listen! If I recall correctly it was the hit that made them a top band in the day.
@@LFRFAMILY1972 live performance covering Otis is the best ruclips.net/video/6TmucgHkgbU/видео.html BESIDES the “Jam” ruclips.net/video/0aAlOysB8z4/видео.html where he plays the harmonica being the ultimate jam :)
LOVE THIS SONG. LOVE THREE DOG NIGHT!! Can you do their song, “Joy to the World”, if you start exploring more of their catalogue, please? - I listen to you most every morning you’re Posting. Gues this is one of the benefits of not being able to sleep.LOL
I certainly wish I could have seen this 3 months ago live ,but this is the first I've seen your show! May I tell you what the term Three dog night means? Well in Alaska on a cold night in an igloo,..you bring in one dog. A colder night requires 2 dogs inside your igloo But a 3 dog night is by far the coldest of all the cold night's, so you bring into you're igloo three dogs. their body heat will save your life. So that's it! that song used to bring me to tears when I was 5 years old will be 60 soon this brings back memories was the good old days. Thank you so much, Louisville Kentucky Maria Brown
Hey Brother glad your catching up. I'm 67 and I went into high school in 1969. This and Easy to be Hard... Smooth you won't hear this today. It's called top 40 music
This song is fantastic I've always enjoyed listening to it. Getting a visual of the performance is even better, they seemed to really enjoy performing this song together just looking at the enthusiam and the looks on their faces. The combination of the vocals and instruments makes for great listening. Old fashioned Love Song and Shambala are also great!!!!
The lead singer on this song is Chuck Negron and he's a tremendous singer. There's another Three Dog Night song titled "Easy To Be Hard" that Chuck really shows his singing skills. Thanks Vann. Peace.
Your criticisms are fair. I think the song is about you can be lonely when you’re alone but sometimes if you’re in a relationship you can still be lonely if you’re with the wrong person or something like that.
He definitely can sang.Love Three Dog Night.Great songs and poroductions. For the sixties when you only had so much room on stage to perform ,and with a group that size to fit on camera ,I think they did very well.Great song.
Hello Van from two years ago. Im just back tracking and saw this. You mentioned ol Freddie Mercury during the song , and it got me to looking closer . And it dawned on me that the two kind of look like each other. take away the long hair and picture the singer with Freddie's hair and he looks like Freddie. wow.
I lovvvve the LFR fam! You are awesome! I luv three dog night! I’m a 70s hippie girl! Seen them live a few times! Their voices are heavenly! Eli’s Co Ing is one of my favorite songs!
The lead singer Chuck Negran got inspiration for this track from the busy signal on landlines, for me his seminal moment is on "Easy To Be Hard" done on the first take front to back,as you can notice he's GOT THE CHOPS!!!
Three dog night,, is awesome, And theres very few of these rock groups, with multiple, hardcore singers, who were this great. These guys have lots of hits. Check out ELI'S COMIN. also check out the Cowsills, and the 5th Dimension.
As others have mentioned, This song was written and originally recorded by Harry Nillson, the Beatles' favorite American singer. He has a couple of songs that would be great to react too. One is "Without You" which really shows his incredible voice and another is "You're Breaking My Heart", a rocking breakup song (be forewarned, it does contain a NSFW phrase).
Won’t be fighting with you over the moustache…totally agree with you there! Love 3DN, all great suggestions people are giving, can’t miss with any. Blessings to all at Christmas and in the new year!! 🇨🇦❤️🔥❤️🔥
Hey, Van! Three Dog Night got bars! NOBODY has a stage show like Freddie Mercury! This "one" is about a relationship gone bad, broke, & he wants it the way it used to be - hence the line, "2 can be as bad as 1...". OK, rinse & repeat - "Joy To The World, Joy To The World, Joy To The World", PLEASE!!! You also may want to react to "Never Been To Spain", smooth as silk, & "Black & White", a social statement. Thanks for rockin' 1 of the biggest pop bands ever!
that moustache that Al Negron had back then was fortified by significant quantities of snow....thank goodness he finally knocked it off and survived the era...many did not,. LOVE this song, great reaction Van. No argument here, Freddie wished his moustache had that much volume lol
I have the same guitar as the guitarist owned recently. Pre-production. One of 6. Certicate of authenticity. Hand-crafted Mollenhauer SSR Strat clone. Lace sensor pickups. I still can't believe I own it 6 years after the fact.
For a high school project me and two of my buddies did a "performance" of this song. One was on an unplugged keyboard, one was on air drums, and I did air guitar and sang the high notes. Still the closest to a musical performance I've ever given.😆
I really love that you younger people are showing appreciation for "talented" bands of the 70's. Drugs were pushed on them that really ruined their performance...
Pretty sure this and Eli's Coming were written by the great Laura Nyro. In 1969 I saw Three Dog Night perform at the Ice Palace in Las Vegas. At that time Vegas had no concert venues so they had to perform at a ice rink.

One of the most underrated bands in history. 18 Top 40 Hits.

NOT underrated back in the day - they were one of the most popular & played bands on radio

Another song black or white a cool song you will enjoy
ELI'S COMING! PLEASE!😃
No one seems to have thought of another huge hit from this band "Easy to Be Hard" and it is a must listen! If I recall correctly it was the hit that made them a top band in the day.
After Otis Redding, Three Dog Night's version of "Try a Little Tenderness" is the best you will hear. Please react to that, Van.
Definitely going on my upcoming Reactions list
Have you seen the movie The Commitments? Awesome version of Trry a Ittle Tenderness. . .movie packed with great songs

Listen to Three Dog Night - Joy to the world
Chuck's mustache was comparable to Sam Elliot's. Freddie's mustache looked so silly.
Never been to Spain is fabulous, you should definitely check it out
One was a major hit at the time. Representative of the era. Guess Who & Steppenwolf were also prominent. Along with good old Grand Funk & CCR.
Magic Carpet Ride👍🏻👍🏻
We love the same exact bands.. that's awesome!!!!
Their song, “Joy to the World”, is a great Christmas song just like " Die Hard" is a Christmas Movie.
Perfect analogy!!!🤣
💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
One of the best comments ever. 🤣So true.
Joy To The World has the best opening line ever. Unforgettable.
Love it! I’m 68 and our family has watched Die Hard every Christmas Eve for many years😎

I love 3DN. I would love for you to react to their song - “Eli’s Coming” Live (1975). Chuck Negron had the best mustache ever!

Joy to the World has the most iconic opening line ever.
Try a little tenderness , pieces of April, celebrate
All 3 guys in the band can sing. You should check out some more of their songs!!!
I saw Three Dog Night in 1973 maybe 1974 in concert, Aerosmith opened for them. Great Concert!

"One" was written and originally performed by Harry Nilsson.
"Joy to the World" is their iconic song!!! Please show it some love.
One of my favorites. This and Eli’s Coming
You've got to try my favorite Three dog night song Never been to Spain
Hey Brother glad your catching up. I'm 67 and I went into high school in 1969. This and Easy to be Hard... Smooth you won't hear this today. It's called top 40 music
Oh yes I concur lol 😆 with their song 🎵 "Eli's coming" my favorite by them. 1975 live performance and it's a great one!
I used to have all of their albums
This song is fantastic I've always enjoyed listening to it. Getting a visual of the performance is even better, they seemed to really enjoy performing this song together just looking at the enthusiam and the looks on their faces. The combination of the vocals and instruments makes for great listening. Old fashioned Love Song and Shambala are also great!!!!
Joy to the World!
"Black & White" please, Van!
My favorite song by them
One of my favorite groups... Shambala is a great song.
The lead singer on this song is Chuck Negron and he's a tremendous singer. There's another Three Dog Night song titled "Easy To Be Hard" that Chuck really shows his singing skills. Thanks Vann. Peace.
I don't really care for rock music, but these guys made music that was enjoyable to listen to
They had a lot of great songs.
Your criticisms are fair. I think the song is about you can be lonely when you’re alone but sometimes if you’re in a relationship you can still be lonely if you’re with the wrong person or something like that.
Exactly.
You got it😉
Big time pioneers! Lots of songs... Awesome 👌
Easy to be Hard . Another good Three Dog Night song
No auto tune, sounds so much better.
You need to do Black and White , for the message , and it's a good song
Love Three Dog Night. I have been listening to them since I was a child. I have their Greatest Hits and they are still fire!!!
He definitely can sang.Love Three Dog Night.Great songs and poroductions. For the sixties when you only had so much room on stage to perform ,and with a group that size to fit on camera ,I think they did very well.Great song.

My favorite song of theirs! Great way to start my morning!

Late 60s early 70s The radio was overwhemed by these guys, Creedence Clearwater Revival and The Guess Who. 🏆🏆🏆🎶👍
I lovvvve the LFR fam! You are awesome! I luv three dog night! I’m a 70s hippie girl! Seen them live a few times! Their voices are heavenly! Eli’s Co
Ing is one of my favorite songs!
My cousin is Chuck and he is STILL performing at nearly 80 years old. It is really amazing
The expressions on their faces show how much fun they are having playing good music.
This band had THREE great lead singers.
Bless you Thanks a MILLION FOR POSTING KEEP ON KEEPING ON 🙏💯 RESPECT
You guys did a great job raising JoJo! He’s a great kid/young man…props Pops.
Think they was on the charts when Freddy was just a child!!
The lead singer Chuck Negran got inspiration for this track from the busy signal on landlines, for me his seminal moment is on "Easy To Be Hard" done on the first take front to back,as you can notice he's GOT THE CHOPS!!!

When 3DogNight was rocking it, we really weren't ready for Queen L0L

"You're Breaking My Heart" is my pissed off song. I'm usually smiling by the end of the song.
Nilsson didn't write "Without You" , though you probably know that already.
Please do Joy To The World
Won’t be fighting with you over the moustache…totally agree with you there!
Love 3DN, all great suggestions people are giving, can’t miss with any.
Blessings to all at Christmas and in the new year!! 🇨🇦❤️🔥❤️🔥
Great song! Hadn't heard that in a bit!
Been waiting for this!! My late husband had a mustache like that. It was very soft.
LOVE TDN. Saw them in a small venue a couple years ago--just as great as ever.
Hey, Van! Three Dog Night got bars! NOBODY has a stage show like Freddie Mercury! They were Great.
Hi Van, hope someone recommends Eli's Coming (Live 7 minute version) or even better, their Cover of Try A Little Tenderness.
If someone hasn't already said it you need to hear "Mama told me not to come"! 3DN is one of my all time favorites!
Great song thanks for all your posts
Yes 3 Dog Night had a few good tunes I think I had some of there 45's 😜🌟🌹
Hello from Cody Wyoming! You're awesome keep it up🤠
Weird weird weird, I’ve heard and loved this song for ages… but this is the first time I’ve seen the band
One of my fondest memories was the time I saw Three Dog Night live in concert
that moustache that Al Negron had back then was fortified by significant quantities of snow....thank goodness he finally knocked it off and survived the era...many did not,. LOVE this song, great reaction Van. No argument here, Freddie wished his moustache had that much volume lol
Chuck Negron has an unmistakable, fabulous voice..love the band, but loved all the songs he lead on vocals...💖
I have the same guitar as the guitarist owned recently. Pre-production. One of 6. Certicate of authenticity. Hand-crafted Mollenhauer SSR Strat clone. Lace sensor pickups. I still can't believe I own it 6 years after the fact.
Love the song
Great Stuff ❤🕊
For a high school project me and two of my buddies did a "performance" of this song. One was on an unplugged keyboard, one was on air drums, and I did air guitar and sang the high notes. Still the closest to a musical performance I've ever given.😆
Great band!
Good call on the mustache Van. That thing is straight out of the Wild West.
For a live performance from the 70’s, it’s a great performance.
Lyrics tell reality❤
I really love that you younger people are showing appreciation for "talented" bands of the 70's. Drugs were pushed on them that really ruined their performance...
I think that's my favorite song by them. They have many more hits though!
Chuck Negron I’d definitely a great vocalist with a slick ‘stache
Pretty sure this and Eli's Coming were written by the great Laura Nyro. In 1969 I saw Three Dog Night perform at the Ice Palace in Las Vegas. At that time Vegas had no concert venues so they had to perform at a ice rink.
Try Chicago...Make me Smile, please
❤!!!!
Eli's coming.
"Freedom for the Stallion" I fell is their most ponente song. All there songs are great.
Grew up with these guys. Gotta love the 70s
This is one of my all time favorite songs. You’re right Hutton had a great stache and Mercury rocked on stage!!
Dads favorite group.
Their harmonies are so good ❤️ you should check out their cover of otis redding's try a little tenderness.......so smooth ✌️ you would dig it 😎
Listen to their live version of "Eli's Coming"! It's out of this world!!
Way up north a three dog night meant it would take three dogs to stay warm so it just meant a really cold night! This was always my favorite TDN song!
The song was used in the Recess movie “Schools Out”. Not sure if that’s what you were referring to but that’s where I remember it from 😂
One is the loneliest number was first thing that came to my mind
Had to hit subscribe on this one.
