I'm an old white lady and there was more freedom to be yourself without someone thinking you were a racist. We just all got along and didn't worry about skin color. It was the friendly accepting time and our political cronies weren't spreading hate & division like they are now.
True that ☮️ the seventies were awesome. Three Dog was a great band.
this was my moms garage band literally they rehearsed in her garage even stopped a concert to sing her happy birthday rip mom
As a teenager of the 70s, I agree!!! You are absolutely right!!!!! The 70s was the best era ever!!!❤
💗
As another 70s teen, agreed! Plus 3 Dog Night were terrific!
Almost. Nothing beats the 60s.
AMEN!
You got that right "Connie"!!!
I'm an ol' doll of 66 and i loved this track. We had the best music, fashions, free love, values and morals ever . . really , believe me.
White old lady here . . . we rocked. I still carry the groove.
What you said about whites and blacks in the 1970's is so right on. Our society was very different then and into the 1980's. I miss that so much. I thought the warmth and peace and fun would last. I loved it.
This is a rabbit hole you will love.
I am sorry you missed it. 72 year old. best times of all of our lives. Thank you for bringing it back.
As a young white dude, we loved funk music in the 70s. And believe it or not, so do my children - I make them playlists from the 1970's which include Sly & the Family Stone, Ohio Players, KC and The Sunshine Band, The Temptations, James Brown, Wild Cherry, Curtis Mayfield, etc.
Not only did our musicians have soul we had fun no teenage angst
I miss the days when radio was fantastic, radio stations played all sorts of music and had no color considerations, if it was a good song it got played. Of course DJ’s had more control of what they wanted to play too.
i've had this discussion several times. There is a very definite point where radio changed in the late 90s, and its when they eliminated the limit how many radio stations each company could own. After that, radio became homogenous, same set list on every station, etc. It was very sad. Those were my HS years, and we were very conscious of the demarcation line between when we could hear all kinds of smaller artists vs when it was the same 10 songs over and over.
Music of the sixties and seventies was filled with funk, blues, soul, r&b, all of it! We didn't care in the least who was producing it. And in the days before auto-tune, digital remixing, and all that crap, it took REAL talent to get noticed and recorded. Al of that is why it was the best music ever.
Unfortunately the days of guitar, bass and drums has been over for many years. No more live performances on SNL, NONE
People get caught up (understandably!) in the vocals but that band was one of the best ever and is sadly underappreciated.
You are correct Dave. I was 16 in the 70s and I loved all that music. And I still do the 3 dog night was a great band.
We white people got soul. I protected a black boy from bullies in 1971 in Junior High against white bullies. I'm a white Veteran from Wyoming, the Equality State.
We were less about differences and more about loving one another. Hippies, peace, love. 💜
Three Dog Night is an American-Irish rock band from the 60's-70's. This band had a lot of energy. They had 3 guys with great voices that could all sing lead vocals. Hope you check out some more of their music. Some other great songs are "One", "Just An Old fashioned Love Song", Eli's Coming", Shambala", "Never Been To Spain", "Joy To The World", Try A Little Tenderness", "Easy To Be Hard", "The Show Must Go On" etc.
Floyd Sneed was the original drummer (1968 - 1975) and he was born and raised in Calgary Alberta, Canada. Fun fact - he was Canadian Tommy Chong's (Cheech and Chong) brother-in-law and was the drummer in Tommy's band.
One will blow your mind!
Oh yes! And don't forget, "Jeremia Was Bullfrog."
You got that right, the 70's were the best, and we all got along, glad I lived it.
@1:05 you are so right. Because we listened to music on the radio, we didn't always know if a singer or group was black, white or other! Everybody loved a wide variation of music, no matter who sang it!
Us from the 60's & 70's are still around and feel the same way, we're just old and nobody listens to us anymore, lol! Glad you like some of our favorites, it makes us feel goooood! Thanks!
Love 3 dog night!!! Shambala, joy to the world, an old fashioned love song!!! Definitely need more 3 dog night!
We are all brothers and sisters ❤️
7 member band with 3 of them being lead singers. Absolutely one of my favorite groups. Saw 3 did night past Nov. Only original singer left is Danny Hutton (dark curly hair black gold jacket ) Corey Wells the lead singer of this song passed away 2015, Chuck Negron officially left the group in 1985.
He kinda got the boot. He had needle and nose issues.
They call Three Dog Night the world's most successful cover band!
Eli’s Coming, Black and White, Shambala and Joy To The World are just a few of their many hits you can react to. Please more Three Dog Night!!
Yeah, I feel you. Where did it go? I'm 70 years old and thank the Good Lord i lived through the best times for music. Although having said that, Beethoven and Bach will never die.
You are correct young man in the 70s we loved each other
They have sooooo much good music! They’re part of the soundtrack of my childhood. ❤
I was blessed to meet Cory six months before he passed 😢 his voice was just as great ❤ he was so kind. Rest in peace 🙏
Their "Ely's Coming " is a good one
Gotta do 'Old Fashioned Love Song ' too much fun. Great group. Named for a cold night when you need three dogs to keep warm. 'So cold it was a 'three dog night's. Also there were three lead singers. ❤
You really should check out their cover of Otis Redding's song " try a little tenderness" you talk about soul? Man Cory Wells had it in spades✌️
This is one of my most favorite songs ever!!! A deep dive on them is required!!! And a GIFT! Lol. I think you'll like alot of their music. Thank you so much! ❤
We still dancing decades later!!! Hahahahahahaha!
Yeah man it's true there was a cool that's been lost. The guys were real!
I have seen these guys live and they have fun on stage the whole time. It is amazing how many songs they have done that I had forgotten about. A great group with a large collection of songs.
RIP Cory Wells
Absolutely Loved MOTOWN .........SOUL !!!
I'm hip to it bro rock on Mike FLA
We tried to drag it into the 80’s but disco cut us off at the pass 😉😂💕
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😆😆😆🤣🤣
This made me giggle Sherry lol
Disco was the Worst! Hardly any great music in the eighties.
So lucky to be young in the seventies.❤️
The 70s, music for everyone and every mood.
I saw them in the 70's down here in Oz ..... what a night!
I was always a fan of "black and white"
Written by Randy Newman who also sang this song.
The 70’s were a great time to be alive. I miss them.
Thank you I'll take that as a compliment😂
Three Dog Night had a lot of hits! They are awesome!
Cory Wells, the lead singer in this song, used to joke about how "Mama Told Me Not to Come" was the first rap song. He was the more animated/dancer singer in the group.
Yes! We danced, we got along…the 70’s were fun with great music! I still dance….just a little slower 😂
I still believe that your understanding of lyrics is great! Another example, to me. Thanks!!!!🎉
graduated in 1976 we all got along party dance sing hang !!!!!!! long live jersey city NEW JERSEY
Never Been to Spain, Shambala, An Old Fashioned Love Song
I was born in 1970 and my mama, daddy and uncles truly influenced me with their musical choices. I have loved Three Dog Night since I was a child. I have been very blessed to grow up and experience first hand the greatest music on earth 🎼❤️🎼
I'm a little ol' white lady pushing 70. Three Dog Night was the first album I had. I loved everything they did. Yes, even white people had soul in the 70's!
My brother! Thank you! Yes we were different in the 70s!
One of my favorite band in that era, and my favorite song was "Easy to be hard", can I request that song, kind of slow but sooo good. I am in my late 60, and still listening to all these oldies.
"Joy to the World" when we were in the car from a very young age my kids would say play Jeremiah was a bullfrog! They knew all the words.
My favorite group and Cory Wells my favorite male vocalist, may he rest in peace. BTW, Cory always seemed to enjoy performing.
Freakin fantastic!!!!!70,'s were the bomb!!!!
Love these guys! Definitely a rabbit hole I would happily follow you down!
Thank you. I'd never heard them do this version, with altered lyrics and instrumentals. Very nice! It's not the one we got on the radio. And of course, we had no internet. 💚
I remember listening to their music down in someone's basement, his mother keep yelling down at us as the smoke was drifting up the stairs....crazy 70's..
Yes!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤the BEST 60'S 70'S!!
I love watching you young guys react to the music I grew up on!
We were high all the time in the 70's. Everyone was much more chilled.
You are definitely right about the 70’s. Sadly the current trend is separating by race , religion and sex. Hell , I don’t know what happened. Great reaction to a great song. Much love ❤️
Lol! you're so right about us whiteys - my soul up and left me in sometime in '79😂😂😂😂
You might like their 'Black and White' and 'Joy to the World'.
Randy Newman wrote Mama Told Me Not to Come. He's best known for writing music for movies. He wrote the scores for the Toy Story movies, including the song You've Got a Friend in Me. He also wrote the music for A Bug's Life, Monsters Inc., Cars, Parenthood, Seabiscuit, Meet the Parents, and Pleasantville.
I didn't know Randy Newman wrote this
Go down their hit chart! They ate fantastic!!
Greatest era ever! Try Three Dog night Black and White. The video with a black and white baby! I think many can appreciate that song and video. So far, so good brother 💯
I'll be 56 in 2 weeks. Love me some 3 Dog Night!
Should review One, it's definitely their best song.
Hey M, Child of the 70s here. 👵✌️Another "storytelling" song you might like is "Spill the Wine" by Eric Burdon and War. 🌻
I think the coming together of youth through the 60s paved the way into the 70s of more melding of cultures and races. The result being more crossover in things like, dancing, say. And YES....us white folk just seemed to have more rhythm in the 70s~! You're spot on, my man.
We're still here!
Love this group
The kids of the 70’s are in their 60’s today.
Still groovin…still way cooler than the rest.
First time? Damn, been listening to this since it was released. Deep bow to you, for keeping it alive.
Mama is Wawa's name life grows in. Mama knows best 😉
Never been to Spain and Eli’s Coming are great! And the 70’s was a wonderful time to grow up
I had soul in the 60's. Then I went to country twice and lost it all.
They did, for dancing, I couldn't dance a lick
Great band.
I saw an interview with one of them, I think it was Corey Wells, they asked what does it mean "Three dog night?" He said: A cold night is a one dog night. A really cold night is a two-dog night."
Really awesome reaction! Loved your genuine thoughts and reactions🫡
Try Eli's Coming, you won't be disappointed!
Joy to the World! one of the best opening lines ever, lol
They would play at the plaza parking lot down the road from my house on saturdays back in the 60's in toronto.
This was a freaky fun song.
Shambala too! ❤
70s was my time. awesome music! listen to some pink Floyd some lynarard skinner and led Zepplin
You are right on point about the 70's!!
Their Black Drummer too.
You are right about the 70's . Music and culture everything in full bloom. Best ERA for Rock. Festivals that lasted for days. You would have loved it.🎵😊 And those of us FORTUNATE enough to live through this ERA are truly blessed. Check out AVERAGE WHITE BAND, WILD CHERRY, CHICAGO ,TINA MARIE ... Even early Disco was a great blending of Black and White musicians. KC and THE SUNSHINE BAND. So much good stuff. I've noticed several new TV commercials are using 70's Rock Band hits in the background. Good stuff❗
Love this by Three Dog Night. You should give a listen to them singing Eli’s Coming. It’s beautiful and was a big hit for them. Yes they definitely had soul. Thanks for the great reaction. 👏👏
Yes! Great Song! 🔥
Everyone i knew tried really hard to get along in the '60s. We believed in respect and brotherhood. It carried forward in the '70s and the music continued to bring us together. HipHop and Rap....not so much.
As we used to say "keep the faith brother".
Their fantastic voices!
Great song!!!
We loved dancing in 70s we went to a lot of live shows at schools bands shopping centres open air concerts before MTV
Lynnwood 😈 Brian in the 70's my cousin scene these guy's in LA. She was telling me how good they were. They were soulful and the drummer was a brother.
