Britt, Three Dog Night was simply a monster hit machine in the 70's. The library of their music is a deep rabbit hole to go down.

Three Dog Night is a great rock band from the 60's-70's. This band had a lot of energy. They had 3 guys with great voices that could all sing lead vocals. They had great songs such as "One" (written by Harry Nilsson), "An Old Fashioned Love Song", "Eli's Coming", "Shambala", "Joy To The World", "Liar", "Try A Little Tenderness", "Never Been To Spain", "Easy To Be Hard", "The Show Must Go On" etc.
Celebrate was another one.
they had a nice hit with it but "Eli's Coming" was a song written and released by the incredible "Laura Nyro! R.I.P. Great one! Lauras version will allways be my favorite!

Three Dog Night is great. This is one of many favorites by this iconic band. Just remember, these guys drank wine with a bullfrog, so ya know they got some good stories. So many great songs.

Three great lead singers in one band.
One of the BIGGEST bands of the 1970's, but no where to be seen these days. Many hits, many fans, many crazy stories about their life on the road. Other great songs, "One", "Black and White", "Joy To The World", "Celebrate" and "Fire Eater", an instrumental.
Part of the reason why their not around is 2 of the 3 vocalists are dead. Cory was first, Chuck died a few years ago, I believe Danny is still around.

They still tour. Singer Danny Hutton and one of the band members are the only original ones left.
I was fortunate enough to see them perform in the early 70's and they were great. All three of the three vocalists had their songs to be lead on.

One of the best live songs
They took their name from native Australia saying. The colder the night the more dogs you would need to sleep with you to stay warm. A 3 dog night was a pretty cold night. That's the story I heard. The band had monster hits in the late 60s and early 70s. Suggest you check out BRICKYARD BLUES and BLACK & WHITE.
Great band with many great songs, suggestions for next up: “Shambala” and “Never Been to Spain”. And yes to the church feel - he sounds like he was raised in a southern Pentecostal church 😄
Love Three Dog Night. My personal favorites of theirs are Pieces of April and Family of Man, but they had tons of hits - One, Joy to the World, Shambala, Easy to be Hard, Black and White, Liar, Never been to Spain, etc. The list is enormous. They took their name from Eskimos who sleep with their dogs for heat. A three dog night is an especially bitter cold night.
I named my car Shambala.....true story.

I highly recommend listening to "One" by TDN. That's another earworm. For several years, I had a friend who was a woman about 15 years older than me, and we used to go to concerts together. Patti was always ready to check out new music! It turns out, she used to go on tour with Three Dog Night because she was dating the bassist (back in 'the day')!

My first date was when I was 15 years old and we went to see Three Dog Night. I wore bleached denim bellbottoms and a matching fringed vest over a white shirt. 1970. While Elvis was doing his wild thing in Vegas.
We didn't know what he was like in Vegas because we only had the radio and newspapers, 4 tv channels. Good times back then! Still discovering ❤

Tom Jones and Stereophonics' version also reached No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart in 2000. Randy Newman also recorded “I Love L.A.”, “Short People”, and many other great quirky songs.

When I was a much younger boy, my family would take a lot of trips to Lake Texoma State Park to go swimming and horseback riding. Every time we crossed over the Lincoln Bridge to get there, this song would be playing on the radio! Not kidding, every time!!&!

This was a fun song written by Randy Newman of later fame for Toy Story movie songs and many other movies. He had 22 oscar nominations 2 wins and 23 grammy nominations with 7 wins. He wrote the song about his first experiences of the party scene when he moved to los angeles in the sixties. Also a fun thing if you want to look it up. There's a hilarious version of the song by the jackson 5 just funny hearing a 13 year old Michael Jackson talking about whisky in your water.
