Three Dog Night is a criminally underrated band who has a ton of bangers
Yep. Great band. 👍
Uh no, in the 70's Joy to the world was a mega hit. They sure as shit weren't underrated.
Underrated? I don't think so. They were one of the biggest bands in the 70's there was. On a side note, they were a huge part of making Elton John a huge star.
How TEUE! And this guy’s review was so funny! Very entertaining!!
One of the best and most original bands of the 70's. Loved when songs like this came on my car radio ......!!!
I'm another 74-year-old Nana. I love watching young people appreciating the music of my youth and prime. It's a good thing we can still hear this music. IMO, it's light years better than most of today's music.
Me too!!
Aymen to that!
It's amazing when they find out that their grandparents knew how to put it down!
You got that right!!!
I'm of the same vintage. 72 My son played guitar in high school bands and through college and every playlist from various bands he played with, was at least half if not more including songs I listened to from my high school days. Does my heart good. Three Dog Night Rock On!!!
I'm a 75 year old geezer listening to this like it was yesterday. It is hysterical watching your reaction to our old songs.
I know right I'm 64 I'm loving all the young keeping our music around and having fun!❤
Hear hear another 1948 here.
Sounds like owsley acid and old Mexican cannabis.... yes I am. 78 and that's what I have always experienced with the memory of that song
@@helenehudson9162 LL cale is my fav.
So you been here too? Do they still party like this😂? I just got flashes.....
I’m 60 years old and a black female. I’ve been loving this group for 30 years or more
Absolutely, white female same age. I don't know about your life experience but all my friends were black and white. We didn't have the racial divide we have now. Much love!❤
@@tupelohoney622
I grew up loving and enjoying the benefits of black and white friends…
Much Love
There was some awesome music made by both Black and White artists back then. I have a ton of Motown music and I absolutely cannot listen to Aretha's "Rock Steady" without dancing. The band for most of those Motown hits, the Funk Brothers, was _incredible_ . The drum, bass and brass interaction on Rock Steady is perfection. BTW, I'm white, just turned 69. (Seems like there ought to be something special going on this year.)
I’m 68- I love watching younger people getting to hear Our music. Keep ‘em alive kids.
im 63 lol
I’m right there with ya!
Me too, and this group was so ahead of their time, when they came out!!
I am 65 and our Boom Generation had the best music ever!
Yes we did!
65 and digging watching this generation listening to tunes I was raised listening to 🥰
Saw them in 1970 - Tulsa.
Saw a lot of great bands after - but that Three Dog Night concert was the best I ever went to.
Those guys were top tier.
Three dog night and Chicago were perhaps the most prolific bands who demonstrated consistently that music brings people together and demolishes racial and ethnic division
Through in KC and the sunshine band.
@kentoramakoto,. It was my privilege to see both bands. I saw Chicago, the full lineup with Terry Kath at Hampton Roads Coliseum in Norfolk VA. after I got back from overseas. US Navy. I saw Three Dog Night in Youngstown Ohio. The woman I was with almost got arrested. Another story. Great concerts.
You’re absolutely right!!
3 Dog Night never had 2 songs that sounded anything alike. Always creative and original! Definitely one of the most underrated and one of my all time favorites!
Yes, I too believe they were underrated by a lot!! They never won any awards did they??
I'm a 74 year old great grandma and I really love watching you react to "my music". I saw Three Dog Night in concert at Eastern Michigan University. They played in the gym and we sat in the bleachers. It was great. I really get a kick out of watching you. I'm so glad you're listening to and appreciating music from "back then". Much of it was pretty darn good.
I'm 54, it's my music too, 😆
I’m 47 and I love it! I thank my momma for introducing me to great music 😉
Absolutely - just recommended he check out Cream, and Blood Sweat and Tears for some more great music!
My husband and I saw them more than once at Blossom Music Center while we were still dating. Together 50 years this spring and married 46. Totally our music! I loving these youngsters discovering what we grew up with!
You go Granny
I'm a 64 year old Navy Vet, and to this day, they did one song that gets me really emotional, and that's "Shambala". Breaks me down over all the dead idealism every time. Can't help it.
Me too!
Best driving song ever!
I'm 67 years old and I appreciate the younger generation listening to the music of my youth. Thanks for the memories. ❤❤
70 year old here. Loved 3 dog night. It’s such fun to watch reactions to our music!❤
Three Dog Night is an American rock band from the 60's-70's. This band had a lot of energy. They had 3 guys with great voices that could all sing lead vocals. They had great songs such as "One", "An Old Fashioned Love Song", "Eli's Coming", "Shambala", "Joy To The World", "Liar", "Try A Little Tenderness", "Never Been To Spain", "Easy To Be Hard", "The Show Must Go On" etc.
It seems you are in a lot of the same music as I am! Love reading your comments!😁
👍👍agreed and their non inclusion in the RNR HOF is a travesty.
You got that right! I saw them on Dick Clark's Rockin Eve back in the 70's. Check them out.
@@kd6836 Them too? Is it a snub? Just like poor old Connie Francis.
@@theOlLineRebel When you see some on there and consider some not, I just have to contribute it to ignorance. Many acts aren’t even rock.
This song was written by Randy Newman before he became famous as an artist in is own right. This was his first song to get recognition. Great stuff!
Do three dog night shambala
Thank You for that information!!
It's autobiographical when you hear Randy sing it. You can really see his mom telling him to stay put.
Now I get why the singer was so taken aback by the scene with Randy Newman writing it it all makes sense
And after it became a big hit, Randy Newman called Cory Ward (the lead singer on this song) and thanked him for putting his kids through college!
Got to love Grandma’s music! I’m 70 years old lady ! Love watching you young kids play these great old songs. Fun times in the late 60’s 70’ s and early 80’s.
Oh Darlin'! 70 year old rock and roll gal here. I *adore* your reaction! We had fun with all the music we had - all being blasted at our riverbottom woodsies or some old house with the bathtub filled with purple passion! 🤪
Omg I forgot about the filled bathtubs. HOW!!!
Yesssss! Fun time until it wasn’t lmao
@@OldGreyMare547 Yes - some idiot would fall into the bonfire ~or~ a fight breakout ~or~ some other drama ... Good times !! 🤣
77 and still have the albums .. and still dancing.😊 All natural voices, no electronic enhancements or auto tune. Happy to see young people enjoying real music from my youth.
Back in the day, we enjoyed 3 Dog Night, Iron Butterfly, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Chambers Brothers....The Monkeys... Songs were sometimes funny, sometimes sad and sometimes just mellow.
Enjoyed watching your reaction to hearing this song for the first time. Reach back and listen to more of the late 60' and early 70's...
The 70's were the best!
The 70’s was just totally incredible music! Have you heard Pink Floyd yet, they are awesome!! And the Beatles were very good!!
Monkees
I am with you all the way. 71 years old and nostalgia is accompanying me!
The music of our youth is giving the same smiles it gave us when we heard this in the 70’s, music from 60’s,70’s, with a group of people laughing and kicking it back…man, the time goes by quick, so many from those times not here today. Just fragmented memories of yesterday is all some of us have today.
"Who is this guy?" Just the greatest singer that ever lived, the legendary CORY WELLS!
Three Dog Night had a ton of blockbuster hits. Glad I got to live during those days. The 60's and 70's were THE days for music in America.
I'm 72 and of course this was our music in the 60's and 70's. I love seeing your reaction. I still listen to Three Dog Night. I'd love to see your reaction to Eli's Coming..
65 year old granny here. 3 Dog Night…so underrated. Love the reactions to the music that got us through the 70’s and 80’s.
Maaaaan, the way he introduces shakiness & breaks in his voice when he sings "I don't wanna see no more" & "'bout scared me half to death!" is BRILLIANT. He drops from belting w/ his full chest to shaking in the corner w/ Shaggy & Scooby.
DO Y'ALL KNOW HOW IMPOSSIBLY HARD THAT IS?!?!?!
It’s easier if you lived it
"Momma told me notta come". How many parties I've been to back in the day and THIS single lyric running through my head along with my massive hangover the next day!
Yes... Me too... Wasn't my mama.. but it takes a village to raise a child... As was always said. Glad to see we can still have a reach to teach ... Our on line village. ❤
O I had occasions to recall this song, too!
They released this one in 1970. The days of drugs & free love & Woodstock. Vietnam war & civil rights protests. I graduated in 1971 & these guys were very representative of the times. Many songs were more discreet & used 'code' in their songs so the meanings were not so obvious.
No
Yea bloody AWESOME musicians and mean as times I would like to be back then ,New World sucks big
It was about a painting Julian Lennon had done of his classmate, Lucy.
Like Hell yeah!
Music had a message back in the day in many artists from that time.
Epic band. Crazy sad ending. One band that should be included in a time capsule and buried for 1000 years ❤ Harmonies are insane.
I'm 75 yrs. old, and I love this song now as much as I did when it was a new release. Thanks for reacting to Three Dog Night, it brought back many fun memories.
This song, the words, the tempo, the sounds, the smoke that could choke you to death......absolutely captures the complete essence of a 70's house party. Music blaring. Alcohol, weed. Other injestibles, people taking turns in the bedrooms...... I always made a quick escape and was so thankful for clubbing at discos where most of this could be avoided.
I love the sound effects at the end
Not me, I stayed for the party! ❤
I went to a few of those parties myself.
I was a seventies teenager in England. I was fortunate enough to have parents who kept an eagle eye on me otherwise I wouldn't be the happy, healthy adult I am today ....😅
@@madwhitehare3635 I'm so sorry...
Here's the thing about Three Dog Night. Three LEAD singers who could all front a band (and did) and who could all hear well enough to sing multiple harmony parts. They got together and put some songs and some arrangements out that were really good. When they hit the airwaves they were a phenomenon that never looked back until they had cranked out multiple chart-topping hits. They may not be a 'favorite band' of many, but everybody remembers their catalogue well...and most have a favorite song among them. They were all over radio for at least a decade and it's really fun to watch you react to their music 40 years later. Keep it up. Check out "One," "Joy To The World" and "Black and White" just to name a few.
Don't recall the year, but "Joy to the World" was song of the year.
They are not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame because they didn't write their own songs. Some sites even list them as a "cover band"! So infuriates me. There were previous versions of some of their songs but it's THEIR versions that we all remember. If I hear Eli's Coming, it's in my head for weeks! 😄
Any song by 3 Dog night is considered Classic Rock, loved hearing it again. Thx for the memories👍
I love their authentic smiles. They look as though they are actually enjoying performing. Great lyrics, very funny
They went to one of them crazy '70s parties! All you guys that were teenagers and older back in those days know what I'm talking about!!
Why yes, we do.
Three Dog Night was a BIG part of the soundtrack to my life growing up as a kid in Hawaii🤙🏽
I remember it like it was last year. I had just completed my first year in the U.S. Army, met my soon to be wife and Viet Namn was closed out. Soul was for everyone, no matter your color or upbringing. I rember by mother embracing this music years later. It's infectious. Thanks for bringing me back to this time.
I'm a 57 year old Mamie, Ninnie, and Gamie. I love watching the reactions of you young people. The sad thing is that y'all's generation won't ever know the peace and innocence of that era. This is way back when everyone gathered around outside in our yards or down on the river banks. This is when music was music. You had fun, but this is when you had to have a voice that could carry a tune. There are so many great songs and bands from back then. I wish they were still around and able to teach their music. But they would also tell you that you had to have soul. What I mean by that is when you sing, you have to be able to feel it in your soul. Because if you can't feel it, then you won't be able to sing it like you should. Keep on keepin' on. Thank you for bringing back memories.
You can't believe how popular they were for five years. When I drove home from my enlistment in the Navy 1974, "An Old Fashion Love Song" was playing. It was the last big hit for them, but I will always remember their wonderful music.
Also, always listen to your Momma.😉
OMG! It’s great to see you get the biggest kick out of Three Dog Night like we, 70 here, did the first time we heard it. A timeless classic! 😊😎
I’m 62. Saw them before Covid. They didn’t disappoint ❤❤❤❤
I too am 74-year-old grandmother. I have six grandchildren, five boys and one girl. It makes me so happy that they love my music and play it even when I’m not around they obviously appreciate good music.
They don't make music like they used to, sigh!
Loved Three Dog Night - great rabbit hole of some great music!! You have to have heard of "Joy to the World", "Shambala", "Never Been to Spain", "Try a Little Tenderness". Also love Cream. And you should check out Blood Sweat and Tears for their songs like "Spinning Wheel", "You've Made Me so Very Happy", "And When I Die", and can't forget "Got to Get You Into my Life".............................ahhh part of the sound track of my youth these groups!
I’m 53 and Three Dog Night was my favorite band when I was little and I loved this song! My dad would come home from work at put on this album and I would dance all over the living room! Good times and in my opinion, this was the greatest decade of music!
3 Dog Night was one of the top bands in the 70's.
I was a freshman in college when they released this one, still hilarious! Try their Joy To The World, please!
I saw them in concert waaay back in the '70s. Aerosmith was the opening act!😮
I saw Three Dog Night in concert three times, when they were at the height of their popularity. Cory Wells, singing lead on this song, passed away just a few years ago. My all time favorite band.
THIS IS 1 OF THOSE SONGS💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊🪝👀❤❤❤
I got to see Three Dog Night in concert way back when. A lot of bands just kind of left you hanging when they took a break between sets but not Three Dog Night; their drummer did a 30 minute drum solo. So cool. I'll be back to watch any more reactions you want to do to them and, of course as always, Home Free too. 😄
Floyd Sneed was a damned master on the kit. He was one of the reasons I got into playing drums.
I'm a 65 year old grandma and this is one of my favorites bands along with Credence Clearwater Revival. Please react to either band's music.
I remember this song getting a lot of radio air time in 1970, fun to watch your reaction and how respectful you are for us who have great memories of the song and times when it was a hit..
This song is cracking me up hearing through someone else's ears. When it was a hit, we were all just singing it like it was nothing. Thanks for a good memory! I loved these guys!
Such a fun group! Shambala is another great one from them. It has such a feel-good vibe.
Yup! Right back in my dorm room dancin' and singin'. I love this song, but I'd forgotten some of the lyrics. "Turn out the lights, I don't wanna see no more" made me laugh out loud. Three Dog Night had quite a few hits "back in the day". The thing that really made me laugh was the green iridescent Lycra pants on the keyboardist. Yikes! Great reaction to some classic music.
One of my favorites from them-actually saw them live 2x, in mid-70's. Awesome performers!
One of the best bands ever. This is one of my favourite songs from back in the day. Hitting 70 this year but this made me feel like I was 17 all over again. Thank you. 😊❤
Three Dog Night was a favorite for me in the 70's. The 3 part harmonies were stellar. Thank you for your reaction. (do you know what a 3 dog night is?)
A cold night.
Guessing it took ‘three dogs’ in the bed to keep warm -
Such a great band! Eli’s coming is my favorite though! My mom got me hooked on them
Awesome song, I still remember, singing along. Awesome song and concert.
“Open up the window sucka, let me catch breath”….my favorite line of this song😂👏👏👏👍
Love this..another 74 yr old enjoying this righteous song!!
Please do "An Old Fashioned Love Song" by these guys......they will crack you up !!
I saw these guys in Concert back in the 70s!!!!
I loved Three Dog Nights
Cory Wells was such an underrated performer. He had it all, looks, talent, moves! I wish he had gone on to a solo career.
I so glad to see you young folks listening to music and watching movies from my generation. The 60s and 70s were to cools decades.
LOL!!! This crazy song came out when I was a teenager... Lol!! The look on your face just sums up how I always react to it too!!
I love Three Dog Night. I grew up hearing it as my Mom LOVED them.😉
I saw 3 dog night a little over 20 years ago, I used to listen to them way before that in the 60's. I'm 70 now.❤
Three Dog Night was my favorite band - I still know the lyrics by heart! It's only been 50+ years!!
Your reaction was superb! Thanks for appreciating a song from my generation so much!
3 Dog Night...members from Los Angeles but their name refers to night temperatures..the colder..the more dogs needed...
Formed in '67..known from '68-'75 achieving 21 consecutive Billboard Top 40's and 12 consecutive Gold Albums...
They were still touring and recording in 2012..43 years after their first album...
Thanks for the memories Greg...🌿🌿🌿
Found out they still play from time to time, but sparingly, not all original members. Really enjoy this group.
Yeah, I heard it was an old Alaskan phrase referring to how many dogs it took to keep you warm in your bed at night.
The 3 dog night was a cold one in Australia
That’s what I heard. An Australian band. They sleep with their dogs and that was the saying… it was so cold it was a three dog night!!
Crazy that they aren't in the hall of fame
I have to admit, at 66 yrs old, makes sense that this tune is humorous to this guy.
I got to see Three Dog Night every weekend at the Red Lion in Champaign Illinois during the early 1970s. Great musicians with their own style of rock. One of my favorite groups and I still love this song!
I was way too young to understand what some of the lyrics meant when this song was first released but always enjoyed it! They had some great music out back in the day. Try Joy to the World - one of the best first lines in music history!
'Jeremiah was a bullfrog...'
All I can say about that is listen to what your Mama told you!!! Lol Three Dog Night is a groove like no other! Great reaction!!!🎶💘🎶
Three Dog night had some GREAT songs. And they were some sweet eye candy to boot! 💃
Yeah! I'm also a 73 yr old that is just dying laughing at this young man digging on our "old"
music! I feel so bad for the young generations as it seems that they've missed so much of
a time that was so much sweeter. Sadly, things have changed so much. 60's music was
good too with the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Loving Spoonful and many others but that 70's
music was really something and at the time I didn't even realize just how very great it was.
I was in my 20's in the 70's and now I'm in my 70's in the 20's. Life was lots more fun then,
when dancing was not nearly the effort that it is now! :^D
Thanks for the trip back to high school. Their "Joy to the World" was one of my favorites and the first song I think of when I hear someone mention"Three Dog Night"
This is one of the best bands from the seventies and definitely one my favorites. Glad I was alive during the greatest days of rock, soul, and R & B.
Three Dog Night was a great band in the 70’s. Got to hear them in the late 90’s in Florida and they were fantastic.
I'm 72, and this is one of my favorite songs of all time.
I was around 13 years old when this song came out and I had no idea what he was singing about because my birthday parties were nothing like that. but I really dug the song anyways. has a nice beat and great singers. Every time I came on the radio I'd pump up the volume. My dad would bang on the wall of course.
I love watching your joy in hearing all the fun music I grew up with. It seems so strange the major artists you young'ins never heard of.
One of my greatest joys is seeing huge smiles and laughter of young people, enjoying the same music that I enjoyed in my very early teen years preteen! This the way that you feel about stuff like this is the same way we felt about it back then and it brings back a lot of great memories. Thank you!!❤
Those boys could harmonize! I grew up listening to them.😊
definitely a classic. Three Dog Night has many great hits. Very fun reaction!!!
Your gonna love this song ,!!! These guys are great preformers I hope it is a live show so you can see them !!!🥰
71 yo black lady...jamming in the basement, Inner Voices blasting the street. We had big fun EVERY weekend and eveybody listened to ALL genres of music. We also blended racially in DC. HOUSE PARTY‼️ Lamond-Riggs 4 ever❣️🙏🏽🙏🏻😁🥰
Love this song.....from my youth...brings me back
He told you a whole story.❤️🎼❤️ Rock n Roll….the party never stops….😎
Check out Joy to the world….👍😎
This is another classic - I enjoyed your reaction, not many even get to this song or band. Good job!!
Deep dive on them is a GIFT. Lol. It's a treasure trove! Loved your reaction. Thank you for this one!
This must be THE BEST reaction EVER! Thanks for this laughter Pal !
It's a classic.. always males me smile. We can all relate to being in a situation where our mama either warned us about or told us not to do it.. but we did it anyway and regretted not listening to mama.
Ah! I haven't heard this song in forever! OMG it brings back memories of my ill-spent youth! 🤣🤣😜🤪
My Mama told me not to go places like that too. I didn't bother telling my kids since I knew they likely would anyway. 😁🤣
OMG, THANK YOU for reminding me. 💖
I'm 66 yrs old and we've all been to at least on of these parties. 😊😊😊😊
Hahaha. The next time you see an old person, know what we were workin' with. The music reflected us, our culture. Back in the day these musicians had no pitch corrected, people played their own instruments.
Great reaction as always! These guys were so much fun and have a lot of really good songs. Never knew what they would come out with. Thanks Greg!
3DN was always fun.
Just a great group with 3 premiere vocalists up front!
Great memories man.
I was 15 years working at a movie theatre when I went to “that party.” Every time I hear it I wonder where those people are today. They were all 5 to 20 years older than I was in 1975.
Ohhhh! Love Three Dog Night! I love to see and hear the reactions to some of my favorites!
