With stuff like UsUK, it's not technically incestuous, but I just find it a bit weird. You adopt a little brother, later he disowns you, then later you two have a romantic relationship? I mean they're countries, but it just feels odd to think about.

These characters aren't human, so holding them to the human standards of science and morality is ridiculous. I see them as deities whose genetics change over time depending on the influence they have over each other. This is why America has at least a dozen "parents" (not including the indigenous tribes he has unfortunate history with).

Well..Before Spain existed, there were several kingdoms like Castile, Aragon, Navarre, Andalusia (Granada / Moors / Arabs), Galicia and Portugal, although they are Hispanic and Latino (less Andalusia), have different cultures and etc, Portugal and Galicia believe they would be brothers, they speak the same language, they have the same religion and the same historical and population origin and etc, although they separated, Spain arose only when Castile married Aragon and formed the Kingdom of Spain, so I think Portugal is maybe brother or half brother of Castile and Aragon and that Spain is perhaps then nephew of Portugal .... it's just a theory of course..

America and Lithuania lived together in the comic "Lithuania's outsourcing" set in 1920-1930's America. I quote from the comic "After World War I, Lithuania was so poor that one couldn’t even eat boiled rice in that country. Thus, about one third of the population went to America to seek jobs."
The comic follows Lithuania working at America's house, that's why he was there :P Sorry for the text block I just heard you say Lithuania was living with America for no apparent reason and I though there was one. I'm sorry, I could be wrong :P

Nah I see it's more of like *Nordic settlers come into what is now America*, *magic country genetic stuff happens* *BEHOLD AMERICA THE BASTARD EMBRYO* I mean even if you look at it in terms of language, Swedish is Germanic and Finish is finno-ugric. They are most certainly not related. It's just that because America is such a melting pot of genetics and cultures and his only real birth story is England finding a weird child in a field, it's incredibly hard to logically explain his birth or genetics without having to make up a orgin story reminiscent of a creepy and probably non consensual orgy between a shit ton of countries + some sort of represation of pre colonial America which would most certainly be both horrifying and inappropriate, even for Hetalia.

I would just like to point out that there is a canon comic showing America and Russia getting lunch together as friends. To sum it up, France sees this, is confused, and talks to them about it and Russia and America agree that they have, at least, a decent friendship. I don't really know the name of this comic, but it is out there and canon unless it got deleted or something which would be a shame since it was funny and added some background to the characters.
(Plus it's nice to see in canon that America and Russia aren't still bitter over the Cold War since a lot of people in those countries don't hold a grudge for that today.)

Alright I'm tired of seeing it so I will just come on out and say it. Have some of you fandom people ever considered that maybe nations like Russia and France aren't being as creepy as you think when they ask another nation to call them 'big brother'? When one nation calls another big bro/ big sis it usually means that they are either their blood related younger sibling or a colony within the control of the older nation. If a nation such as France were to ask, lets say Iceland, to be his little brother, it would be like asking if he would become his colony or territory (as France's character likes to say) and therefore adding more technical landmass onto their current amount. Also, it leads to more power and more money. So really it's just a dickish way of saying "make me more powerful!"

I go by the head canon that country relations are based on language groupings (romance, slavic, Germanic, etc), but then the problem is that a lot of pairings like Spamano and Dennor would end up being a bit incestuous (because Spanish and Italian are both romance languages and Danish and Norwegian are both north germanic). So it's probably best to keep actual relations ambiguous (kissing cousins).
Regarding the Baltic trio, I disagree about them being completely unrelated to each other--I think Latvia and Lithuania are related (kinda like brothers) because their languages are from the same group, East Baltic (which is the only surviving branch of the Baltic languages--everything else is dead). I agree Estonia is not related to them as a blood brother, but only because Estonian is part of the same language group as Finnish, Finnic-Uralic, which means he and Finland are actually related. That said, I see the Baltics having a brotherly dynamic behind of their geographic location and their shared experience as underlings to Russia.

    • @hoppersworld6431
      @hoppersworld6431 6 лет назад +5

harrietamidala1691 I agree with you on the Baltic part! I also think they could be related to each other, at least for Latvia and Lithuania. And I’ve found she’s kind of inconsistent in some part of this video. Since you’ve also mentioned about the language group, it makes me sort of weird that at 5:54-6:02 she says, “Since he is related to Sweden, and Norway, Denmark and Iceland also speak Germanic languages, he may be related to them as well.” This part implies that she has considered the fact these countries’ languages have originated from the same root(Germanic language), so they should be classified to Germania’s descendents. But at 5:02-5:08 she also says, “Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia and Finland do not have siblings at all.” Like you said in the comment, Estonia and Finland are from the same language group(Finnic-Uralic). And I also remember Himaruya DID mention in canon that out of Nordic five, Finland is the only one whose language is different from the other! And “It’s more closer to Estonia and Hungary”! So why in Finland and Baltic’s case, she omitted the language factor and just jumped into conclusion that these four are not related at all? While in other four Nordic and Germania’s case, she included the language factor and said they are related?

I haven't watched the video yet,but as they are personifications of countries, they do not have parents and family. All Hetalia siblings are not really related. When they take DNA tests, like they did with Norway and Iceland,it probably shows the countries that were close to their countrie,at it's start. But the question is: can countries make a child? Of they can, willl it be another country? Normal human?
But as we all know,Hetalia is a dark hole to fall into. Maybe this sibling and incest stuff wasn't meant to be explained at all?

I think the allies fighting pokes fun of how alliances can make heated arguements over propaganda. It's widely known today and has existed for many years. Even during their time of getting along, the English and Americans have had their times of leaders going into very heated debates, because despite having a 'special relationship' they still don't agree on everything. One is more Conservative than the other yada yada yada.
That being said, this is very intriguing on the relationships. Man, so many countries are related to each other lol would it be surprising if Spain was France's distant cousin? Also, you didn't mention that it's hinted in cannon of the possibility that Romania might be Ancient Rome's grandson too.

boooks 4ever I think is just kinda like the Lithuania and Poland’s shipping thing?! Let’s not forget Himaruya is a Japanese. And sometimes from a foreginer’s point of view, the unification between two(or more) European countries is like a friendship, alliance or even marriage to them. Because it looks like the relationship between those two(or more) countries would be good enough to make an union. Otherwise they won’t do such a thing. It’s just from outsider’s point of view. They don’t always notice the fact that sometime the people of those countries are not always fond of each other, even though their governments have formed an union together.

I’ve gone through the whole comment section, and found no one ever considered the fact that what if it would be possible for the nations’ bloodlines relationship always CHANGING through time! Since the people in every countries are interacting with one another. They may be living together in another countries, travelling, working, studying… Meet someone from other countries/races, and GET MARRIED to each other! Born the MIXED-BLOOD KID! And when that kid grow up and meet another mixed-blood person, and they get married, too! And born another kid… Don’t you think this process would make some countries to be SLOWLY related to each other? Even though the process would take quite bit a long time like decades? It’s possible in the ancient time most of the countries were not related to each other since their people were not interacting with people from other countries. At least not like the present time. Some of the countries/villages/ethnic groups back then were somewhat closed to the outside world. They seldom got the chance to meet people from other countries/villages/ethnic groups, didn’t married to them. In this condition it is save to say that the countries were not related to each other. But in the modern time, there’s rarely any nation that doesn’t interact with others. So I think in the modern time, these nations are all somehow related to one another!

Mostly because if you look through any songs from when england took over Irish people portrayed Ireland as a woman, with the people as her children, wishing for them to come home during the famine.
Also if Ireland is a women then her nickname could be Erin after the Irish version of Ireland which is Éirinn.

Personally, I ship who I want. Everything in this anime is purely fictional and some of the scenes are not 100% accurate historically. There's no need for shipping wars because frankly, they're NOT real. That's why a lot of people out there still watch incestuous anime series and whatnot. I really like Germany x Italy and America x England. Those two are my forever OTP. Hetalia is one of those anime that I didn't loved for the first viewing but eventually grew on me and became one of my stress reliever anime. Something I watch for that parody and light-also cute and flirty-scenes. This is just my opinion and I respect other opinions out there.
