CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Miles (Macaulay Culkin) interrogates Uncle Buck (John Candy) in the kitchen.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this cheerful, lightweight comedy, excruciatingly clumsy, disorganized, and messy Uncle Buck Russell (John Candy) becomes the screens most unlikely babysitter since Clifton Webb in Sitting Pretty. While their parents are away, eight-year old Miles (Macaulay Culkin), six-year old Maizy (Gaby Hoffman) and their teen-aged sister, Tia (Jean Kelly) are left in the care of Buck. Surprisingly, the very inept Uncle Buck entertains the younger children who come to love him and earns the respect of Tia when he rescues her from her worthless boyfriend. However, in doing so, Buck nearly loses his long-time girlfriend Chanice (Amy Madigan). John Candy is delightful in the leading role giving a touching and notable comic performance. Directed by John Hughes in his typical broad style, this youth-oriented comedy is perhaps the best role of John Candy's regrettably brief career.

John candy is my favorite actor EVER
Onions are gross
Natural born talent I guess🙂
He ain’t no Alex Vincent in Child’s Play but he still was one of the most precious child actors ever

@@HildaFan That's cause he is Kevin!
@@HildaFan yea its pretty much the same character because both movies were made by the same director.
It's an FBI interrogation.
The little Q&A between McCauley and John is my favorite scene. The straight faces is hilarious. Wish they did more movies together. They have great comedy duo.
Yeah, the ole Joe Friday interrogation from Dragnet..who ever put that in there is a genius writer!!
@@alanmcneill2407 old movies had the best writers who were paid well, period

Matthew Right lol I wonder how many times they had to try it xD
The way it was filmed back and forth im sure they did their parts seperate and just edited them together
It also showcases some great chemistry. I find it also amazing that this film was the only time they shared screen time together, cuz in Home Alone candy had all of his scenes with Catherine O Hara
I counted 11 consecutive questions asked by Miles
Kevin Macalister was in this a year before Home Alone came out?! Mind blown.
DisneyNerd1994, yes, he was 7 here, and 8 in Home Alone
That is mind blown.
this really makes me think that home alone could be the sequel of Uncle Buck.
You must be British

I love how the little sister messes up her hair after the older sister was combing it straight!! I guess she likes her hair messy!!! 😂😂😂🤣🤣
Or maybe she was doing it to get on Tia's nerves. 😆
🤣
Ok
What really got me was her eyes when she said “THEY DID?!” 😳 then “But you can’t drive!” before messing her hair back up 😂😂 I’d ask why Maizy is so cute but it’s cause she’s the baby therefore she’s supposed to be the cute one. 💙
He's cooking our garbage!
Was he really doing that?
@@ryboothe7461 No.
I like onion omelettes. But I can see how an 7 year old kid and a 16 year old girl wouldn't. Besides, Uncle Buck seemed like the type that would cook food that's been sitting out at room temperature all night, and the kids probably suspected that too. The not so nice smell from him doing that might've been one of the reasons he said that he's cooking their garbage.
Lol
@@alvexok5523 bruh I love onion omelettes as a teenager
I LOVE MILES! But dude, onions in eggs are AMAZING.
+Grey Fox Yeah, onions in eggs would be good. I'd eat 'em!
+Grey Fox But, then again, he's a kid in this movie and we know how kids are about food. They just want to eat the same stuff and not try anything new. But weren't we all that way at that age, lol?
***** Very true, my good man. Very true, lolz.
I like onion omelettes too. But 7 year olds and 16 year olds probably usually don't. Also, Uncle Buck looked like a character who probably cooked food that was sitting out for a while and/or was past the expiration date. The not so nice smell from him doing that may've been why he said "he's cooking our garbage".

From what I understand, during the closeups for the questions, they first shot Macaulay, and John Candy had Macaulay's lines on a card and put them on his head so Macaulay would keep his eyes focused on him and be able to deliver his lines.
I love this scene. The editing and straight faces while quick-firing the lines are just perfect.
On his head? You can still see John's whole head in the shot. And there's no sight of the card touching his head, unless they edited it out from the shot.
Isn't it funny that Macaulay Culkin and John Candy were both in 'Home Alone'.

Onions are great in eggs. Kids just don't know any better. I remember hating onions as a kid and now I use them in everything.
@@BarstoolBlues33 especially when you put onions in chorizo and eggs... Very tasty.
I LOVE green onions in eggs. Fry the onions briefly in butter (NEVER burn them!), then pour the beaten eggs over them, and either scramble it or make an omelet.

I love this movie so much, RIP John Candy. Man this is a classic. I can't believe I'm now realizing that Macaulay Culkin was eight years old when he made this movie.
He might've been seven going on eight at the time. However, by the time filming ended, he most likely turned eight.
***** yeah, i guess you're right

John Candy led a generation of new parents who were 80s kids. He taught that a real discussion is possible with little kids, even if it turns into an interrogation. It gives kids a sense of equality and value in conversation. This is so important when you’re little. I miss John Candy every day ❤️
John Candy was such a sure fire laugh. He was so genuinely funny but at the same time always came through as a really, really nice person.
He has been so missed. What a loss to us all.
0:03 still love that scene in this film. I laugh everytime and uncle buck mimicking the child being scared of him (found at 0:02)
An Angsty Teen, John Candy, and Macaulay Culkin, this movie is a microcosm of John Hughes Films.

The age before one understands sarcasm.
But after all.....Tia was pleasant towards Miles......she said she'd give him some cereal in a few moments.
1:59 I’m a kid that’s mah job 😂
THAT IS TRUE!
John was actually a subtle actor at times. Great talent.
The scene in Planes, Trains and Automobiles...that brought me to tears, is his serious defense of himself after Steve Martin's character ripped him to shreds, John Candy understood pain very well and could do drama as well as comedy..that scene always gets me. His talk with Tia in this at the end....such great acting...
+HYPNOGLANCE87 I myself think that John Candy was a great actor, and very neat, too.

“Is your sister always this pleasant?”
“No, she’s usually in a bad mood in the morning.”
Macaulay Culkin is so cute in this movie!!!
I actually believe Culkins performance in Uncle Buck tops Home Alone…and I’m probably a very select few in that regard. I LOVE when Buck packs his school lunch, he takes it and unwraps it…then quizzically asks his 3 friends about a possible lunch trade and the chairs go flying away from the table!

The uncle is the man in home alone who helped kevins mom get to Kevin wow what a stoey
Hughes and Culkin must have been huge fans of Dragnet. The questioning scene was just as fast paced as Friday and Ganon's banter.
Macaulay Culkin was an absolutely terrific child actor. He was the centrepiece of one of the all time biggest box office money earners. I don't think that any other child, his age at the time, could say that. He obtained immediate mega stardom and no wonder he became good friends with Michael Jackson. They could easily relate to each because they had something extremely rare in common.
Of course, he was marvelous.
They were both forced into the famous working business by there dads. So that’s also something they have in common.
Oh look it’s the boy from home alone, and the guy with the yellow rain jacket also from home alone
