Mike is the sort of you guy you wouldn’t see for 25 years and then meet at a BBQ, he’d remember your name, your kids name, and take a good guess at what you drink and absolutely not let you pay a dime. Legend
What makes Mike Myers genuinely funny is he is naturally goofy. He doesn't accent out or exaggerate acting funny because it comes out naturally. He's that one guy that makes you laugh when he's not even trying to make you laugh.
Mike Myers is so generous towards the other talent. Most actors seem to play dumb, when it comes to giving credit where it's due. That gives you an idea of how collaborative of a spirit he has! I was hoping he would talk about his Ray Foster character in Bohemian Rhapsody, because the other actors have spoken about how deadly serious Myers was about getting it just right; that he takes the art of comedy/acting/production very seriously. He was uber-prepared with all kinds of concepts and things to try. I'm somewhat paraphrasing here, but the other actors said that it was like watching a masterclass.
@@C-bc6fj With all due respect, I've also heard that Mike can be a bit of a jerk on set. However, I don't know for sure whether it's actually true. I take the quote with a grain of salt, but yeah.
I freakin' love So I Married an Axe Murderer! The dad was hilarious too, with his hatred of the Colonel and his wee beady eyes and his membership in the....Pentaverate!
He's remarkably insiteful. He has bits of social commentary that give glimpses into the trueth about, media lies, classism, imperialism, goverment, and bullying, that are eye openning. Great interview.
I was in the theater, watching Wayne's World (when it first came out), and the Bohemian Rhapsody scene came up. I immediately started "rocking out", just like the characters did on the screen. A girl sitting near me was shocked as if to say "How did you know they were going to do that?" I didn't. It's just a thing we do, when that song plays. Party on, Wayne!
That scene was reenacted by an entire generation on repeat. We added Bohemian Rhapsody to the tape we listened to on the carpool to school in our friends Mini, specifically to do this. Wayne's World quotes also became part of our vocabulary for daily life, complete with American accents.
The Bohemian Rhapsody scene in Wayne's World was filmed in Covina California. I know because I was in high school and walked down that very street many times in a day. That particular night I got grounded for being late all because of film crews. Thanks Mike. 😁♥️

The parts where he said "Canadian's inherent trust in government" and "trust the experts", I couldn't help but think about that scene in Wayne's World when the studio gave him those placards with things he _had_ to say.
Canadian raising refers to the way we diphthongize certain vowel sounds and has nothing to do with our voice going up at the end. Whether someone does that or not has nothing to do with nationality.

I was a bit bummed in this interview that a) he doesn't review 'So I Married An Axe Murderer' (his best in my opinion), nor does he acknowledge that 'The Pentavarate' was first mentioned in that movie.
Yeah that was a movie that didn't do particularly well, but my family had a love for it. We watched it frequently when it was on, and quoted it all the time. It's actually a very clever and well-done movie, but I think people just didn't know what to think of it.
Mike is pure class. No one like him. He always knocked it out of the park when he acted, with ease I might add. Always made it fun and very entertaining.
Don't forget about So I Married An Axe Murderer and he also played a role in the Queen movie, Bohemian Rhapsody, as well. He played Ray Foster, which I hardly recognized that it was Mike playing until I saw the credits and was like, wow! He did a great job!
The "Mole" scene influenced a friend of mine who was the front desk clerk at a very prestigious hotel in Vancouver. The story she tells was she was checking-in Sean Lennon and all that was running through her mind was "DIRTY GREAT BIG UGLY MOLE STARING ME IN THE BLOODY FACE!" She said it was the hardest thing she'd ever had to do was keep a straight face and smile and be all polite when her own brain was betraying her and replaying that scene in her head.
That was so stupid though, it was literally on a place where a man grows hair and normally shaves off anyway, namely his moustache, obviously all he did was not shave that spot and then use a sharpie or something to color that spot on his skin. It simply begs the question of why did he shave all but that one spot of his moustache?
I didn't realise I watched so many mike myers movies. I only knew he was ausstin powers, but that's beca mike has a face you instantly forget and sort of morphs into everything. he is not attractive, but he also is not outstandingly ugly, he just has no distinctive features to his face. That makes him the perfect actor/spy
"I think I'll listen to that Led Zeppelin..." Awww Mikey, you remember so much detail. 🤓 And thank you for sharing inside secrets about your characters! My dad (who retired in his fight with colon cancer recently) took me to the theater for Wayne's World premiere right after my mom left us and it was the greatest thing in the world at that moment, Aye?. We laughed and laughed and afterwards, we didn't care about it so much anymore; she was missing our SNL late night parties and the funniest ppl ever! You & Dana Carvey were my FAVORITES! I still watch reruns of those good ol' days! Later, Tater & God Bless Canada!
Would happily watch the full unedited version of this. Mike Myers brought something wonderful and unique to the movie comedy scene that was perfect for the time yet also immediately classic. A huge star yet clearly very humble.
He should have been more picky before doing the Pentaverate. That show was pretty terrible amd came off as a forced attempt at humor. It didn't feel like organic Mike Meyers.
@Newsbender II - If you can't at least laugh at Wayne's World, Austin Powers or Shrek then you must be one miserable S.O.B. and I feel very bad for you...

Isn’t he known for being a jerk on set?
