CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Uncle Buck (John Candy) explains to Bug (Jay Underwood) what he likes to do with his hatchet.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this cheerful, lightweight comedy, excruciatingly clumsy, disorganized, and messy Uncle Buck Russell (John Candy) becomes the screens most unlikely babysitter since Clifton Webb in Sitting Pretty. While their parents are away, eight-year old Miles (Macaulay Culkin), six-year old Maizy (Gaby Hoffman) and their teen-aged sister, Tia (Jean Kelly) are left in the care of Buck. Surprisingly, the very inept Uncle Buck entertains the younger children who come to love him and earns the respect of Tia when he rescues her from her worthless boyfriend. However, in doing so, Buck nearly loses his long-time girlfriend Chanice (Amy Madigan). John Candy is delightful in the leading role giving a touching and notable comic performance. Directed by John Hughes in his typical broad style, this youth-oriented comedy is perhaps the best role of John Candy's regrettably brief career.

I love that part where she says "He's all talk" cuts to next shot to him holding up the hatchet "here it is" gets me everytime
☺️
“Maybe later?.......okay”..... 😂
@@toniroberts8117 not to kill. Just to maim
Just imagine if he had a crutch.
That and the shine of the moonlight off the hatchet
"You're not a gnat, are you, bug? Wait a minute... bug.... gnat... Is there a little similarity there?... whooooooooh I think there IS." That "whoooooooooah" part always gets me.
for me is when he says "maybe your bug can join us for ice cream" like the fly in the ice cream hahaha
You can even highlight gnat and check the definition if you wanted. 😁
Classic Candy
Uncle Buck, most underrated comedy ever.
totaly agree, my 3rd favorite by john hughes after breakfast club and ferris bueller
Its probably my favorite John Hughes movie next to Plans, Trains, and Automobiles. :P
Ariel Rocks5 PT&A is def my fav. This is # 2 on my list.
Pretty sure it was successful. You're watching this clip, aren't ya ?
Ariel Rocks5 ikr
He's all talk...
HERE IT IS!
Freakin hilarious!
supreme2005 I
😁😁😁😁😁
lmao
Come on over!!!!
A shame John Candy died so young(43), he was one of my favorite comedy actors of all time.
Dumac 40 actually
At least he has Robin Williams to keep him company
Roy Campbell No it was 43.
Was 'Cool Runnings' not His Last Movie? That was also Classic! ;)
ikrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I like how Bug is on the verge of tears. It takes a lot of fear to make someone cry, and you can tell he's feeling it all
haha yeah he's like wigging out
He's realising that there's a scary unknown entering his life.
Spotting at 1:24🤣
John Candy, a giant of comedy..sadly missed. One of my fav films of his.
It's one of my favorite movies bye him too Leo. Have you ever seen nothing but trouble? That's a good one too. Oh and bye the way your one of my favorite youtubers Leo. I subscribed to you. Can you please subscribe to me?
Giant You've got _that_ right!
leokimvideo true
leokimvideo it's my favorite john candy film too lol
Same here lol
Uncles Against Drunk Driving
And Bugs
Hmm, what about Uncles Majorly Against Drunk Driving?
UMADD?
Yet he tells the drunk clown to get in his mouse and drive away 😂
"Maybe your Bug here can join us."
Hahahaha
I like how Maisie is like “I bet she’s getting the tongue”, and Buck looks at her like “Where did you learn about that? You're six years old, you shouldn't know these things.”
HAH!
Who can blame him?
From the producer 😭
lol
lol
lol
Bug gnat, is there a little similarity there, woahhhhh I think there is😂
Gotta love the expression on Bug’s face when Buck says that line.
Gotta love how your name is Nat.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Funniest scene for me.
Candy's delivery and Bug's facial expression are just perfect.
Oh hell yes and when that axe pops up...perfection.
Ironically she appreciated him later, Buck has a radar for scumbags.
Cause he's spent his life around them/was one of them.
Daddy energy
Predators is more accurate
"Maybe later...okay..."
Haha "he's all talk"
**Throws Axe Into The Boot Of The Car/Closes The Car Boot**
Hehe!
John Candy's performance in this movie is the single reason why this movie is hilarious. Without him, this movie would not be the comedic marvel that it is.
Rest in peace John candy, I only knew him from home alone and this movie, but from what I've seen he is a comedic legend.
At first it was going to be Danny DeVito who turned it down, then it was Tom Cruise and Thank God neither said yes to it. John Candy was a legend in this one I can't tell where Uncle Buck and John Candy start and finish. However if Danny said yes the school toilet scence wouldn't have been very funny.
I like how the car bounced for eight seconds after he closed the trunk.
"Why I've been know to circumcise a gnat. You know what I mean, don't you bug?"
😂🤣😂
"come on over, come on i wanna show it to ya"
Maybe later
Ok 👌
the cars suspension always cracks me up
My first car was a coupe and looked like it had been to hell and back, and the struts in the rear suspension was so bad that it did the same thing as buck's old Grand Marquis, so I had a friend that would call me buck, and I'm also an uncle, so that added to it.
And the exhaust also
Or lack thereof.
@Mr. Big one time i drove a little to fast over a speedbump, and my buddy hit his head on the roof
"That's a pretty stupid thing to do during flu season."
I think she's getting the tongue
Love that kid - but realise he's a grown-up now! Lol
Yeah...... little did you know what what that would mean in 2020.
@@PaninaroAurora And then Buck looks at her like, “Girl, where do you learn these things?” 🤣
@@kevinspirk ya a fake overhyped 99.97 survival rate scam the MSM pushed to create hysteria.
Say for example someone's been drinking and about to drive a loved one home,
then I like to know I have it ! 😂
the look on Bug's face at 2:08 is priceless! I've seen this movie at least 200 times and I've never even realized how funny his facial expressions were until now
Uncle Buck should be the blueprint for what all uncle's should be in this world because every kid deserves an Uncle Buck
John Candy was a treasure and this movie is a classic. Great stuff!
"I've been known to Circumcise a gnat!"
"He's all talk..... Here it is!!!"
I remember my uncle babysitting me and my sister and we watched this movie. Now im an uncle i watched it with my sister's kids. They loved it. Laughed thru the whole movie.
I need to watch the film with my niece and nephews and show them what classic films are rather than let them watch terrible Minecraft videos where the content creator just shouts for no reason instead of talking.
John Candy is too adorable and sweet to pull off crazy.
Ah, but he does pull it off! Spectacularly!
kyokogodai lol. Yeah he does
Damn, I miss him.
The ones who are sweet and adorable are usually the ones that are most crazy lol
Not if you don't already know him!
Am I the only one. That loves the Car?
I love the role model on display, for all his faults and being rough around the edges, he got through to these kids :)
This scene (and, really, the whole movie) makes you wonder at the dramatic actor John Candy could have evolved into. Watching this scene, I can absolutely see him being incredible in a current day Tarantino movie. I’m so glad we have of John Candy what we do…..but it does make you sad for what we missed.
I could imagine him being in Pulp Fiction.
love how his car spits out more smoke than a ship
I have memories of back in the 80s, many cars burned oil like crazy, and in some areas it was like a game, follow the smoke trail to see if the car looks as rough on the outside as it smokes..
The fact he fixed the bang bang of it was hilarious
Even back then folk knew how to roll coal.
One of the greatest Canadian actors/Comedians ever to grace the screen. Been a huge fan since his SCTV days. There will never be another John Candy.
He was so special to the country of Canada.
Today it's exactly 20 years since JC passed. RIP JC.
Type the fucking name, bitch.
+Tony Vega I still miss him and Leslie Nielsen
Now 25
27 two days ago
The eerie music playing is funny as hell. And the shaving kneecaps while the cold breath blows makes it even funnier.XD.
It's the random wolf howl when he walks back to the car that gets me
Lol!😄2:36 Love the serious expression on his face as he waits for her. I got an uncle like this.
Man.....he really doesn't like Bug......can't say I blame him.
Syphon Filter Bug seems like kind of an annoying hipster
He had Bug pegged the moment he saw him. The guy was a total sleaze. And Buck was right about him, too - he ended up cheating on her.
Didn’t he also force someone near the end of the movie
This has always been one of my favorite movies. My son and I were watching it one day and saw the scene when UB says "here it is.come on over" waving the axe around. We both laughed like hyenas. Miss this kind of humor.
I love the comments from the peanut gallery in the back seat.
Lol Hoffman and Culkin were so cute
Buck: you know what a hatchet is doncha bug? Bug: its an axe; Buck: sorta yeah yeah...🤣🤣😂
Those little kids were priceless in this movie!
Maisy and chanice would do field of dreams in the same year of 89.
Never put a loving uncle's niece in danger. Especially if he is Uncle Buck! R.I.P. John Candy.
John Candy is definitely one of the greats!
Indeed. Maureen O'Hara said that very thing, sitting right next to Candy when they appeared together on the Tonight Show to promote 'Only The Lonely'. She said John could recreate some of the great Charles Laughton roles, like 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame', in which she herself co-starred in 1939.
"Do you understand what I'm talking about?? I don't think you do.. I'll be right back...." "Ha ha ha".
His facial expressions during his little chat with Bug are dead on.
🤣🤣 “He’s all talk”
* bugs face looking at Tia after Buck pulled out the Hatchet *
RIP John Candy 🙏🏽 this movie will always be classic. Me and my mom still laugh about it all the time lol
Every kid needs an Uncle Buck
i love how the cars suspension bounces almost 10 times just from closing the trunk
OMG when the spooky music plays behind him, it makes it that much more hilarious! 😂😂😂😂
Great actor we lost out on a bunch of great movies. And he was a funny person
Bug literally had tears in his eyes😄
Uncle Buck as silly as it sounds is one of my favorite movies.
Not silly at all. An excellent film !
Definitely not silly ! It's John Candy!
It's a brilliant movie with a superb soundtrack.
I love it too and I don't care who knows it !
✊😂👍
i love how he turns around and laughs @1.54
"I've been known to circumstance a gnat" 🤣🤣🤣
What’s even better is John isn’t acting in this movie...he’s just being himself lol...one of the nicest and funniest guys ever....his laugh iconic
Johns acting is so amazing. Whether it be as big as creating giant pancakes, or the small things like the pronunciation of iced cream
1:46-1:48, Buck: "I'll be right back" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
1:51 - Such a perfect chuckle.
this should run as a MADD ad. "hatchets save lives, dont drink and drive":p
This was my uncle Pete 100%. He was the best.
"Okayyy" one of the greatest scenes ever.
The suspension on Buck's car when he slams the trunk shut - bouncy!
I'd be Uncle Buck when my nieces grow up.
I've got the waist line sorted and a car that needs work and the act is slowly coming along.2 nephews and a niece, I don't have an axe but I do have a short sword and some cordless power tools.
@@RobTheSquire yeah Uncle Bob! Go get 'im!
Her boyfriend was the perfect actor. Such a wimp! Well-acted cry baby.
“not to kill, just to maim” “you’re not a gnat are you bug” 😂😂 and when he turns around and laughs 😂😂
sure miss John Candy hes always been great actor and Comedian
The Bug actor (Jay Underwood) played the perfect sleezy, cowardly boyfriend. Totally memorable character
"not to kill no, just to maim, take a little off the shoulder"
timestamp: 2:11 "maybe later... okay" 🤣🤣🤣
maybe your bug can join us? too freakin funny!
"that's a pretty stupid thing to do during flu season" hahaha 2020.
When I went on my first date with my ex girlfriend her dad was cleaning a hunting rifle while whistling when he answered the door. Apparently it was the first and only time he has ever cleaned it. it.
My Fiancées dad showed me his .45 pistol 10 seconds after I met him
this makes me think of the scene in Clueless when the guy picks the girl up to take her out on a date and the dad tells him: "if anything happens to my daughter I've got a shovel and a 45- I doubt anyone would miss you." lol
So toxic
My fiancé s daughter told him she was bringing a boy home!He told her all the things he was going to do and when they got there the boy was so nervous he could hardly speak !Her father treated him very nice and got a good laugh over their discomfort! Stay safe people!
Parenting done right.
Uncle buck is the best to watch over the kids. Best to keep the kids in line 😂
Def my all time fav John Candy flix. Even after 20yrs I'm still shocked by his passing! It was so sudden. Never saw it coming
Hamzah Elsulayman mine as well! Love it
Love this scene. Reminds me of the Dad in Clueless. "Anything happens to my daughter, I have a .45 and a shovel. Nobody will miss you."
Rat Pack wannabe:"Your dad's scary!"
Cher smiles while getting in the car:"Yeah."
😂
Although I dare say that Buck wouldn't bury the rat. He'll leave the body showing all the drill holes and golf ball size lumps and dents as a message.
My favorite part is the turning on of the car's interior light and the following cold stare...
Candy 🍭 a Canadian icon 🇨🇦
I love it when he slams the trunk and the car car continues to rock on its suspension.
Buck was a low-rider
John Candy was a treasure. R.I.P.
LOL @ Bug's expression after Uncle Buck reveals that he does in fact carry a hatchet. He was about ready to cry
Thanks to this movie I now know how to deal with my future teenage daughter ;)
It was this movie that gave my stepdad permission from me to do this to any guy that comes into my life
By threatening to kill her boyfriend
No one ever worries about their sons, because boys are expected to get laid all the time, right?
Deadpool Boys need to worry about a girl lying about something being consensual now days. You practically need a damn contract with a notary. I’m grateful I was born in the 80s and I’m married. Dating today’s Femnazi would be horrible.
~shining a shotgun~ "You like huntin' Bug, I like huntin'."
Tell ne that wouldn't sound like an Uncle Buck line.
The old days of dealing with teenage rebellion. Damn, could kids these days use some of this.
@W H
They have 911 on Speed Dial....
Take a lil off the knee cap lol!
We all need an uncle Buck.
I'm well on my way to growing up into Uncle Buck :D
Wish they left the part in with that amazing bass guitar and drum loop right before the camera shift; the one that’s focused on the moon and the trees. Always stuck out as a groovy jam.
RIP big guy. You will forever be missed.
Best movie ever
uncle buck is what I aspire to be as an uncle, he is a legend in this role god we miss you John Candy
I love John Candy's laugh.
Ahh, the 80's. Back when you could threaten your teenage niece's boyfriend with a hatchet and not go to prison. Goood times.
John candy is a legend . Take this quarter go down town and have a rat knaw that thing off your face lol
One tough dude, Love all his rolls!! R.I.P legend!
You got both kneecaps? ROFL
Freezing cold weather
Let's get some ice cream 😄😄
I love John!!! Wish he was my uncle!!
I've been known to circumcise a gnat!!!
Lmfaooo!!
Who in their right mind would name there kid bug
My niece is starting to notice boys. I have this scene memorized in my head just in case.
I love how the rear shock absorbers were removed or blown from this machine for the film....Hahaha!
