The best part of Cookeville is the mom and pop restaurants. Rarely go down interstate drive, so much better offerings going toward the middle of town.

I live here. In my opinion it isn't the ideal place to live. No offense to anyone who does love it but I have seen a large homeless population and for such a small town I am surprised to see homelessness is such a huge problem. There is a drug problem here as well. I know that is the case all over the country however, this is a very small town. So to have such a large population of people on drugs and homeless is an issue. Homes and rent are as high as a larger city. I have found a mix of nice people and extremely rude people. I guess that is true anywhere. The cost of living here is really high for such a small town. If you have ever had someone sick and forced to go to Cookeville Regional you would have a different opinion on that too. And if you want to get anywhere before the sunsets stay off Willow and Jefferson. The problem is that they are the main roads to get to anywhere. LOL The countryside is very pretty and there are some nice places to just ride and look at the rural areas of this county. But overall it doesn't feel very inviting and it just isn't for me. This is all just my opinion but I just really disagreed with this video and wanted to express my personal opinion.

Agree 100% I lived there for 2 years and hated it. Just a weird ass mean spirited town with people who are kind of fucked in the head. I laughed my ass off when that place got blasted with that tornado in 2020. Luckily I was out of that dump of a hell hole town when it happened.

I agree. I lived there for 7 years. Pretty much everyone you met wanted to talk about their government benefits, pills and ailments. People would stop on a green light and go on red. Wasn't for me.

grew up in Cookeville , born 1960 and lived there until 1981. THAT was the prime time of the town...the last of the real "small town" environment and the beginning of the build up. Still a great place but grown up more than I care for
