Cookeville is also a regional shopping area for surrounding communities. There are chain restaurants and big stores particularly near I-40. There is an excellent hospital and medical professionals. But traffic is horrible. The town has experienced a lot of growth due to its regional nature but the roads and traffic signals have not kept up with the growth. There also seems to be little coordination and design of joint access resulting in numerous driveway cuts into major roads. Don't get me wrong. I love the area but Cookeville is no longer a small town and needs to work on its traffic problems.

As a resident, I would not call the hospital excellent by any means, or the general medical services.
