    My family has lived in the area for .. oh .. about 200 years. I live about 1/2 mile north of downtown in old north knoxville with my family of 5. West Town Mall is rather atypical I would say because it's damn near 50 years old and looks brand new. The problem with this video is that it covers the downtown area and then jumps directly to the suburbs without mentioning the extensive investment that has gone into some of the older neighborhoods surrounding downtown.
    Also, I'd like to mention this to anyone looking to move to knoxville. Don't come as a missionary. We aren't interested in hearing what is going on in Atlanta, New York .. hell, most of us regard Nashville as an alien entity. East Tennessee has its own branch of rugged individualism and we'd like to keep it that way.

    There's so much vacant land all over Tennessee where people could live spread-out, but certainly Knoxville isn't a bad choice as it appears on this video. Appreciate it Forest. Thanks for the tour. be blessed. sep2023

    It's exciting that they are developing along the riverfront and that they are bringing the baseball Stadium to downtown Knoxville. Market Square in downtown Knoxville has wonderful restaurants, like Tupelo Honey, Cafe 4, Emilia and Ruby Sunshine. It's such a nice area for couples on a date or for families to spend an afternoon or evening. The Mast General Store on Gay Street is a big store with a small town feel and has a Mayberry-type vibe. We love Knoxville, thanks for the full tour Forest, you gave us lots of great information here for future buyers wishing to make a permanent home in Knoxville.

    Great video. We are moving in a few years to Knoxville! My question is about south knox, is it being revitalized? We were there on vacation a few weeks ago and our family there told us south knox might be the new up and coming area the city is putting effort into?

    • @livingintennesseeteam
      @livingintennesseeteam  7 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks for watching! Yes South Knox is definitly one of the up and coming areas. The area known as the South Waterfront has seen tremendous growth in the last couple years, both with resturants, breweries, and coffee shops, as well as residential developement.

    One of the best Knoxville videos I’ve seen. The 3 top uncertainties I have are crime/homelessness trends, air quality, and allergies. Is crime and homelessness increasing and are the police well funded and supported? The lung association ranks Knoxville 25th worst air quality likely because pollutants are trapped in the valley. And is the allergy season long and severe and are there any areas maybe higher in elevation like Greenville or Johnson City or closer where you can escape to avoid some of these issues? I live near an airport similar to Knoxville’s and yeah flights are a little more expensive and usually have a connecting flight in a bigger city but I get to the airport only 1 hour before the flight, pay hardly anything for parking, and am through the gates in 20 minutes no hassle, it’s amazing especially with a family.

    • @livingintennesseeteam
      @livingintennesseeteam  9 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks for watching! The police are well funded and supported. The homelessness is mostly concentrated around the homeless shelter next to downtown. The allergy season is about half the year for a lot of people, but is usually well controlled with medication. As far as I'm aware, the allergy season is about the same in most of east TN. Thanks again for watching and feel free to reach out if you want to talk more details about all this. 865-850-2327

      I’m from New York I just stayed in Knoxville for 10 days I absolutely loved it the allergies we’re not worried about it because in Long Island the allergies are insane so actually when me and my family went to Knoxville in August, allergies were great. We felt like the air was so clean compared to Long Island in New York and I’m in the suburbs in Long Island, but the allergies are crazy out here, I love Farragut that’s where I want to be. The only thing I don’t like is I read on they have a lot of snakes in Tennessee. I’m afraid of those and as for driving in Long Island even though we do have public transportation it takes forever so you really need a car here anyway, I haven’t taken the bus in 20 years, but we do have trains. Do you have trains there are you don’t even have trains?

    • @livingintennesseeteam
      @livingintennesseeteam  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hey thanks for the input about allergies. That's very insightful. We do have some snakes in Tennessee, although it is pretty uncommon to see them anywhere around town. I've only come across them a handful of times in the past 30 years. We do not have trains. Buses are the only public transportation.@@mommyface2675

      My family has been in the area for 200 years lol. Crime isn't really a concern here. I live about 1/2 mile north of downtown. He's right in that Knoxville has a very concentrated homeless population. Literally .. they all seem to be on the same block on broadway. You don't see many homeless around the rest of the city tbh.

      Hey! The challenge with Sequoyah Hills is that it's very desireable so properties typically sell quickly when they come on the market. The lowest priced homes are condos. is the cost of living cheap in Knoxville TN. I am planning to move to Tennessee in Knoxville from Colorado in 2024. I dont like Colorado since its a blue state. I want to move to Tennessee since its a RED state. I am a gay male and im a conservative. I would like to find a place there in 2024.

    • @livingintennesseeteam
      @livingintennesseeteam  8 месяцев назад

      The cost of living is considered low primarily due to low taxes. The property taxes are very low and there's no state income tax - there is a sales tax. The cost for a home is about the same as the national average.

      To say Knoxville isn’t as bad as some other cities simply isn’t good enough. Twenty years ago I could take my young son to Market Square and the Old City on the weekends to go antique shopping and never worry. I wouldn’t think of it now. He’s grown, but I still worry about his safety. It’s so sad. I’m so nostalgic for the way Knoxville was back in the day.

    The river stinks. Lots of pollution. Allergies are realky bad. Roads are bad, very narrow. No shoulder. Pot holes on the streets. Building are run down too. They have asbestos in some. Many restaurants, but very expensive. They are taxing people exorbitant price for that baseball field. Property taxes have doubled too. Housing is expensive. Be prepared to pay 300,000 and up for homes that are worth 100,000. Gangs are selling Fetanayl on the streets to the homeless addicts. It literally is a warzone. It used to be a nice city at one time. Lots of cities have a Fetanayl problem, so it seems. Must be coming from Mexico.
