Thank you for actually talking about FL outrageous property taxes. If I lived there, I would be paying waaaaaaay more tax in total than I do in PA. But everyone likes to say FL has no state tax! Whatever.
The industry has driven home prices too high for most families. The solution is for prices to align with family budgets, even if it means a market correction. The wisest thing that should be on everyone mind currently should be to invest in different streams of income that doesn't depend on the govt.
Especially with the current economic crisis around the word. This is still a good time to invest in Gold, silver and digital currencies ETH, XRP..).
What if you don't know how to trade any of these? I mean, see your point some people have the money and are willing to invest, the question is where to.

Us natives of East Tennessee don't mind outsiders moving here to a degree. Just don't move here expecting us to change for you. You change and adapt to our ways. Also, don't bring your ideals and way of thinking with you that is giving you cause to move from where you live. We like how things are here. We want to preserve our landmarks, mountains, lakes, rivers, and our countryside. We do not want our beautiful landscapes ruined by condos, private estates, and the makings of subdivisions. We don't want your kind of change. We see what your ideal of change has done where your from.
I would say this to you, I don't give a rat's behind what you want. I moved here years ago not because I had ideals of where O last lived it was because I hated it & enjoy only the ideals of a red state & conservative people. I'll take up residence where I want because I'm an American & I own this country. If's some of y'all are getting tired of housing going up, subdivisions and all which I also hate then stop selling your land and being greedy!! I won't sell off none of my land even though I don't need it, it just ain't getting sold period. You say you don't like my kind of change, what the hell is that? I ain't here to change a dn thing but leave the way it is. Now let's talk preserving things like the beauty of things. This is the only state I've been to that out in the mountains and such that people throw crap out their car windows in ignorant bliss. I'm used to the illegal aliens doing that. We lived in Tennessee and i was glad to get out of there, no work,most people dont have auto insurance,laid off every winter im glad im in Florida

@@jeffsprague2967 Absolutely. Living in Florida is risky. Florida has become unaffordable. Insurance does not always pay on time; sometimes not at all if the insco goes broke due to massive claims. Where do you live if a cane or nado takes your home; and it takes months to years to rebuild. If you are not rich, you can always live in a campsite, trailer park, or vehicle if you still have one. Some have lost their shirts due to insurance paying less than property value or inscos going broke. Florida is best for rich people. Nice place to visit though.

@@ganymeade5151 I live here and I'm not rich. 22.7 million people live here. You have to work and it's no longer a great place to retire. Certainly middle class can live here 100% I'm retired at 55 yrs. old in Sarasota, Florida. It's a postcard, love it!
bring in a few 100k more people and NE TN will be just as expensive as the once-inexpensive florida. 10 yrs ago, a 3/2 house in Palm Bay, FL was 140k. The same house is now 500k, the taxes are double, and the insurance is 400% higher. Look at the TN trend, it's unfortunately destined for the same.
Thats my hometown, Palm Bay. I agree to an large extent, the cost in PB is going nuts! If people could start getting together and start building the kind of homes people want and need, not mcmansions on 0.34 acre lots in hoas, things would be on a good track. Like, small homes on 2-5 acres. Allowing manufactured and farm animals. Finding home+land in PB is like $1 million home! Nobody has that kind of money. Was checking out Malabar/Valk. prices this weekend and trying not to spit out my coffee 😅
If anything, the area can learn from the Floridian mistakes. People are going to come in droves. But spreading people out in reasonable housing imo would alleviate a lot.

We left Boynton Beach in 2009 and moved to Raleigh NC to be near kids and grandkids. The Raleigh area is being exploited as the greatest place in the history of the world to move to and it's ruining the area. If we had it to do over, we would have stayed in Boynton Beach even though we know it's now far more expensive than when we left. Raleigh has gotten outrageous too and Raleigh NC is death compared to all of the things we did in S Florida and our grandkids are teens now that we hardly ever see. People who are moving based on prices or thinking emotionally and thinking they will be happier in NC. SC or TN than FL may end up very disappointed.
i live is south Florida and i just visited Kingsport TN in October . my favorite thing i noticed besides being very beautiful , everyone speaks English !
When you have an immigration system that favors a certain group of people that's what you get. Those people in south FL don't have to assimilate either because they are the majority now. Same thing in south Texas.

We moved here from Florida in 2016 and my only concern is the substandard medical care in this area thanks to Ballad health. I am a retired ICU nurse. Had we known in advance we probably would have chosen a different area. Still considering moving down towards Knoxville for access to better medical care.
Substandard medical care ? I live in Bradenton Florida and the doctors here suck there are no good doctors there might be one or two good doctors here but my doctors that I had when I lived in Nashville Tennessee with the best doctors by far compared to Florida
Once they tell you it's a good deal, it's not. Like the stock market, when they tell you about a buying opportunity, that opportunity had already passed. Tennessee has become very overcrowded and expensive, especially based on income earnings. When based on earnings opportunities, it is one of the highest ratios (earning/cost of living) in the Country on par with New Jersey based on a recent report. Actually Kentucky is a better value at this time.
I don't understand this video. Florida's Home owners insurance are the same as Tennessee's, and their property taxes are only around 50.00 more per month. Am I missing something?

I’m glad your making a living in Tennessee, but the world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows, all the agents overemphasizing moving to conservative areas are pricing out the locals that live here.
Florida at one time was cheap to live also and look what happened.
You are 100% correct my friend! Fifth generation Floridian here.... My 50k Florida home is now supposedly a multi-million dollar home. I cannot even afford to rent a studio apartment less than 1 mile away. It would be 250% of my take home pay. Luckily I can work remotely anywhere in the world with my job. This is why I moved to Western Kentucky 10 years ago. If Kentucky ever drops their state income tax, i'll become an actual resident. Having the ability to hunt deer from my kitchen window is always a nice plus as well. I looked into TN but their hunting regulations are insane.

One thing that is rarely considered when moving to a new area is healthcare. Since you are mostly talking about retirement in NE TN, you should include available healthcare in your presentation. Healthcare was something my parents didn't consider when they moved to Florida and the area they moved to lacked good healthcare. I'm talking about critical healthcare not primary care or clinics when you get a cold or the flu. What major, highly rated hospital is available in NE TN...?? Rehab facilities..?? Etc...

What part of Florida is that? Down here in SW FL, that is the largest employer. We have an insane amount of hospitals and healthcare facilities. I guess because this is where everyone moves to die. lol
Ballad healthcare is the current medical monopoly in northeast tn and they are horrible at best. Do some research first I doubt you will be impressed with what you find on the subject.
As a Florida native I’m so ready to bail. 10 more years. I have no idea where I will go but it won’t be Florida.

We live in eastern NC and go to SE Tenn (Chattanooga area) regularly to visit our son and his family. We would love to find some land there and build a little place. We shop every time we visit but the prices are crazy high! It’s obvious to us that far too many folks bought up land a few years ago just to flip - which is fine - BUT - to expect to make 100-200% profit in that short of time is unrealistic. Nuts actually.

There seems to be very few homes to buy in northeast Tennessee, and we have found it much more crowded with high traffic from Knoxville north

Great honest video, we are considering being reverse snowbirds to escape the heat of summer in FL to TN. Currently live on the space coast and since 1988 it has EXPLODED with double the population and driving to Orlando or Tamps, Miami has become atrocious! not to mention the non stop hurricanes. I love visiting TN to ride motorcycles and enjoy the Smokey's so we are considering just south of Knoxville honestly.
Thank you so much for encouraging a market and lifestyle in Northeast TN. Perhaps many who moved to Florida over the past few years will move to Northeast TN and Florida could become less crowded.

The price of homes here in.NE Tennessee have gone up $25,000 to $80,000 or more in the last year and a half.

I've been checking the real estate websites and Tennessee looks even more ridiculously priced than Florida. Almost nothing shown for under $300,000. Guess I'll stay in Wisconsin.
I left Johnson City and moved back to Sarasota, Florida after two long years of living there. I have to say, you cannot beat the beauty of Florida it's a gorgeous state, it looks like a postcard it's so beautiful.
I've been thinking about moving from Florida to Tennessee. My 4 reasons 1. Homeowners Insurance 2. Auto Insurance 3. THE HEAT! 4. It's too crowded here now because of all the people that moved here in back three years. I have to get to Tennessee and have a look around.

Don’t do it! Wait till Tennessee prices drop about 50% since they went up about 50% in the last three years. It’s only a matter of time before blows up. The weather in Tennessee is not great. If you’re looking for cooler temperatures, go to Georgia and still feel like you’re in Florida. I’m not saying that Georgia is an improvement over Florida, but much cheaper than Tennessee and much closer to Florida.

They figure if they get caught doing a scam, at least they don’t lose their home worth millions of dollars. It’s a total scam and that’s part of what’s causing Florida prices to skyrocket. It’s a safety net for millionaires and that’s how politicians want it. Florida is not a state for people with no money. You have to have deep pockets.
You forgot to mention the car insurance crisis here in Florida, the car insurance rates are too expensive, even the monthly payments are out of control. I visited the Gatlinburg area and the smoky mountains and i love it.

A few years ago, I had heard the term "halfbacks". Those that move from a northern state to Florida, and end up, for one reason or another, moving halfway back to their original state. Thus moving to states such as the Carolinas, Georgia or Tennessee.
Add " Hemi " to yiur vocabulary. short for hemorrhoid. The good ones drop diwn for a couple if weeks...irritating.... But the real pain in the axx ones, drop down and never go bsck.
They should all move to New York. They have cool rules and manage their economy wonderfully.

I really like my job here in SWFL. I live in Cape Coral. The taxes are ridiculous here. Then there's the insurance. That is way over the top. So I have been looking for possibilities elsewhere. I am not interested in cold weather at all, but maybe able to deal with a couple months of it. But the heat here in SWFL is getting intolerable as I get older.

On average, there are 201 sunny days per year in Johnson City and in Florida's the average is 237 days a year of sunshine. An extra 36 days (over a month) of sunshine is worth whatever the cost is to live in Florida. Sunshine is medicine.

I live in NE Tennessee. It is not cheap at all now to buy a house here since videos like this showed up, and most that are affordable are quite old and poorly constructed. It is quite hot in summer and pretty cold in the winter. I have to mow my lawn twice a week at least for about 7 months. The people are mostly friendly and polite. Note that this is a REALTOR video.

I lived on the Space Coast most of my life and on the ocean at Indian harbor beach for 25 years.
I finally got tired of the heat and humidity and moved to Blowing Rock NC area 18 months ago.
I’m in the mountains a few miles from the Tenn border and Johnson City is 45 min.
I prefer Boone and Blowing Rock and Banner Ell but each to their own.
I’ve laughed at some RUclipsrs who complain about the traffic in Johnson City. Driving here is a dream compared to Tampa

I was 6 years old when my divorced mother moved us from Buffalo in 1953 the Las Olas Islands in Ft. Lauderdale. We moved to Plantation in 1958 when my mother remarried and I still live in house they bought then. I lived off and on in Plantation. During this time, I have watched Ft. Lauderdale go from a sleepy town upset only by Spring Break to major high rises in the downtown area between Rt. 1 and Andrews Blvd. While I am retaining our Plantation home as a snow bird, I will be moving to NE Tenn looking at Mountain City in the Appalachian Mountain foothills. Except for Cost of Living, I share the other three reasons for my looking at Tenn. after I retire in a couple of years. I just worry that Tenn is filling up like Florida.

We tried saying that about Florida but no one listened. They came anyway. Most are moving here to Fl from the northeast and midwest.
I also heard TN job market isn't the best unless you give to Nashville or other big city which defies the who point of moving 🤔
Great Video! We tried Atlanta area 2008-2010 but hated the hills and muddy lake water, landed back in Martin County. Husband is an offshore guy, FL native, me 35 yrs (orig from NE) we both hate red clay and love to see the sky so the hills are no fun but so sick of the crowds and inflated cost of living in FL... did I mention the rising humidity?
Omg..yes!; our parents drug us from RI to FL as little kids. Always hated it. But as you form relationships and build a career, it is hard to up and move. Now in my 50s, the intolerable heat and humidity is getting even worse, not to mention the traffic! I am planning to move to TN within 2 years. I cannot wait.

Johnson City? WOW..... My fathers side of the family were all from Johnson City... My Uncle owned a restaurant there, my Grandfather was a Baptist Preacher there... Gosh, the last time I was in town, I was installing a filling line for a water company there.. Small world.

Actually two of my neighbours born and raised here in Florida moved last year to Tennessee ,also two just moved to the Georgia-Florida border,and three to Ohio.These are Floridians not snowbirds.

Currently trying to leave NW FL, possibly moving to Huntsville (very close to Tennessee) if hubby gets a job offer! Praying it’s a go 😊 I completely agree about the weather, I love fall and a change in seasons. We lived in Ft. Laud for many years as well and the endless heat was so exhausting!! We are now in NW Fla, (by the AL border) which is much cooler in winter and changes throughout the seasons, but I still want a more pronounced fall and winter that you can get in Northern AL 😊

I would move from Ft. Lauderdale too. We live in North East Florida., it's heaven... I never had any neighbor or friend move in the last 10 years!. I looked up stat's. the numbers leaving are basically leaving due to cost.. They thought Florida would be cheap.. Why would paradise be cheap? We have the best beaches, 325 days of sun. no traffic here in NE FL. amazing people, mainly from other parts of FL., Georgia and Mid west. South Florida is no longer livable .. In Tenn. you can sit on your porch and rot. No Beach, 25" snow a year, average winter temp. 30 degrees.

FL population is actually reported at over 22 million. When I moved to FL in 1989 it was 11 million and........ AFFORDABLE.
I live in central FL for now, but am relocating to the NE FL Jax suburbs.
Mainly for quality or life reasons, metro Orlando and Tampa are basically growing together and central Florida now has around 10M people (alone).
Like much of FL, east TN (and middle) is becoming pricy overall when it comes to real estate. Especially Nashville and Knoxville in that order.
A common theme of both states is no state income tax - I hear it all the time down here.
Voting: Don't sweat it. Much of Tennessee's FL residents will share many/most of your values.

Two seasons in Florida,dry and wet
TN is ok. But, SE Florida is absolutely amazing! No freezing, icy weather that we encounter in TN. Many more cultural events in Florida, extensive opportunities for healthcare vs TN, and one can be extremely active all year round. LOL The Fall colored leaves last 2 weeks. So, why not rent an airbnb for 2 weeks in a place with incredible Fall foliage, such as Vermont. Remember…. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

@@LivinginJohnsonCityTennessee I’ve lived in TN and I’ve lived throughout New England. The 4 seasons in TN are nothing compared to New England. Again, you get what you pay for.
I'm moving to Johnson City, Tennessee in the next 2 months or so. I have family that lives in Johnson City, I'm looking forward to experiencing the season changing of Tennessee. I presently live in California, and also and looking forward to being with more of my family's members.

I just looked at houses in both states and their home owners insurance is the same. I compared property taxes too, and Florida's was only around 50.00 per month more. So I don't get it. ?
Do you really think that if advertise this area that it won’t turn into Knoxville or Nashville…..more population means more infrastructure…means Higher Taxes!
NC insurance cost went up 500.00 this year.
In NM our property insurance went up 50%
My parents and grandparents were snowbirds to Florida for many years. I had dreamed of retiring to Florida. I have a brother living in the Orlando area. Our daughter and her husband lived in Lakeland FL for awhile, until SIL's employer moved him to Atlanta, GA. Dear Wife no longer desires to move to Florida, when we retire. One of the reasons being the hurricanes.
We have gotten accustomed to the burbs northwest of Atlanta AND the countryside from Chattanooga TN up to just north of Knoxville TN. During our many trips between PA and Atlanta, we've been checking out the NW Georgia and Eastern TN communities. Who knows where we may decide to retire to. Time will tell.

I think NE TN might be good for Floridians who live in the country or who are country-minded and there is nothing wrong if you are more of a country person. NE TN is gorgeous. But I just don't see a lot of urban Floridians wanting to move there. Personally, I would be a little bored.

But is there any cap in the annual property tax increases like we have if homesteaded in FL? My home is worth about $1M now but my property taxes are only about $3500 because I’ve been here since 2001. They can only increase 3% a year. If only we had that protection on HO Insurance - that is another story. Also you didn’t mention how high the sales taxes are in TN - they are really high.
I will stay in florida, I hate the cold, I guess I am a wuss!! I would rather sweat than freeze! I do miss the hills and mountains, here in florida the closest you get to going over a mountain or a hill is going over a bridge!

My Fl property taxes just payed. Market value according to tax office was 1.5m ,a 300k increase from previous yr. Amount paid to county was $ 2,522 ( less than last yr!). Yes, property insurance is expensive but thanks to Gov Desantis property values have increased dramatically during his administration. Local newspaper just mentioned ~250 homes in our town priced over 5m!! But it is very hot here.

That's cheap. My TX house is worth 500K and my taxes this year were just over 3K, which is down significantly from $4300 last year because of an October statewide election that passed overwhelmingly to increase the homestead exemption an additional 100K. Seniors have the option to make 4 equal payments thru out the year without penalty if they choose. Our homeowner's insurance has skyrocketed, but from what I hear, Florida's is outrageous.
I live here as well. All those 1-5 million homes are crap shitboxes worth about 400k in other states. If you are NOT ON the water (and even then) your house is either 60 years old and beat to shit or a new build that isn't built well. The housing in almost the entire state is a bad joke.

@@1969bones69 You speak the truth. My 30k (1982 purchased) house is supposedly now a 2-3 million dollar home according to some slimeball realtor that keeps calling me to sell it. These people paying these prices are insane. It doesn't make sense to ever sell it because then I would have to spend the same amount for another tiny crap box located in a worse location.
Property taxes are low...I've spent time in baileyton....nice town. I wonder why a lot houses are surrounded by junk cars...trucks..and you name it.
We lived in NE metro Atlanta most of our life. Traffic & crime kept getting worse. Plus it turned Blue. We moved to western NC, but no jobs & high taxes. So we’re going to retire in east Tn due to low taxes & Red state!
i bet it's not only home insurance that's cheaper than FL. Car ins is more expensive in FL
