The genre is "Philly Soul", a dominant sound of the '70s. They met in college in Philadelphia and formed their band during that time. With mega-success that stretched halfway through the '80s--they had SIX #1 Hit Songs overall--Hall & Oates is the greatest selling duo of all time. Try my favorite song of theirs, and one of their six #1 hits, "Out of Touch", you'll love it!

If you haven't been schooled, Daryl Hall is the blonde on the left, John Oates is the man with the 'stache on the right. Daryl did most of the "lead" vocals while John backed him up on the choruses.

"Rich Girl" was the first of Hall & Oates' SIX #1 jams! They've had 29 Top 40 hits! H & O have dance jams: (I Can't Go For That, Out Of Touch, You Make My Dreams); slow jams: (Sara Smile, One On One, Promise Ain't Enough), and rockers: (Family Man, So Close, Don't Hold Back You Love). Daryl & John have called their music "Rock & Soul". I look forward to Jordan and Amber reacting to more hits from the best-selling duo in pop music history!

I'm from Poughkeepsie NY, but lived in Pawling NY for about a year & 1/2 (about 30 minutes away) where Daryl had an online thing going on that has turned into a TV show called *Live from Daryl's House*. It's his club where he has fellow famous musicians come & jam out, cook, eat, drink & be merry! It's a beautiful thing.🥰

They are the kings of "Blue Eyed Soul" and worth deep dive into their catalog. You guys should check out live footage of them. Daryl Hall ( the blond guy) is the main lead vocalist. You should also check out Live from Daryl's House, where Daryl jams with a guest artist. He has a wide variety of guest from Smokey Robinson, The O'Jays, to rockers like Joe Walsh and ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons. He's also had great guest that were younger lesser known acts like Elle King, Fitz and the Tantrums, and Anderson East that were fantastic shows from start to finish. One of best live music shows in last 20 years.
