The 2024 Hyundai KONA HYBRID is *FINALLY HERE* and is bringing with it some INSANE claims...
How does 3.9L/100km sound for fuel economy? Pretty great right? Well it would be, if it were true. In fact, there's a few things about the 2024 KONA Hybrid small SUV that we LOVE, but some that we question. So in today's review, we're going to take a look at this hot new small family SUV and see how does it fair against it's biggest competition: the Toyota Corolla Cross Atmos Hybrid. Strap in, it's going to be an EPIC review!

I just bought the 2L Kona N-Line premium tennis ball. Nicest car I have ever driven. Turns plenty of heads.

We’ll done Hyundi for including a spare, I wouldn’t consider anything that doesn’t come with at least a space saver spare

When you compare this to the Corolla Cross:
    - Has the same safety features.
    - Has a way better interior in almost every way.
    - Is roomier and more practical than the Corolla Cross while being smaller on the outside, so easier to park and maneuver around town.
    - Has more tech.
    - Is more fun to drive than the Corolla
So the only things going for the Corolla is its proven reliability and stronger brand. With how good Hyundai is doing with its electric cars, I wouldn't worry about the brand either and Hyundai's are pretty reliable too.
I would go with the Kona everytime.

That all true. Toyota is much cheaper to service if you service at dealer. $250ish per service. Kia and Hyundai also have cap service, but $600+ cap service for years 3, 6 and 7 is not cheap at all. Also you can resale your Toyota easy and hold good resale price.
$50k driveway for small SUV is not cheap, you are not far from top specs hybrid rav 4 with 2 size up.

Service on Hybrid is due every 10,000km also. Not 15k like many quote. We have the new hybrid, nice car, but not cheap at all.

Add in the Toyota is harder to get. December there wasn't one on the forecourt in CBR.

Corolla Cross with better power 0-100 8s VS this 10.5s, better fuel economy and also better safety, Kona only got ANCAP 4 stars~

Great reviews CarSauce!! I've been looking at buying a 'new' car after owning a 1997 Mazda 121 Hatchback for the last 20 odd years. I'm keen on going 'Hybrid' as well and the Hyundai Kona Hybrid looks like a good choice. Boot space is important to me as I am a musician and need to cart around a drum kit to gigs. My 1997 Mazda Hatchback is still the best car ever for cargo space (back seats down) for any muso that has to cart around their equipment. However, alas, time has come to get a new car. Having said that, just wondering if you could do a review on Hatchbacks/small SUV's with the biggest cargo/boot space specifically with gigging musos in mind?? Kind Regards, Neil. Your reviews are informative and hilarious!! good on you guys!!!

Big improvement on the previous Kona, and I love that bit of road - have given it the sauce through there many times over the years.

Great SUV for the money, I love the look of the N-line pack, plus it makes the interior so much better, I test drove the hybrid and I was impressed, it was fun to drive. Great review guys!

$49k with On road, at least that's my bill for what you have here.
That Neoteric Yellow really stands out with the Black N-line accents.

Yaris cross, jokes aside, this kona is really feature packed, wish they will bring this to the philippines as well.

This for sure, feels like two classes above the corolla cross when you compare the interiors. It's also a smaller car so easier to park, but bigger and more practical on the inside.

Kona Hybrid for me. While the Corolla Cross has an excellent hybrid drivetrain, the interior and exterior styling is too bland for my tastes and I’m not prepared to wait 12 months+ for one. The Kona doesn’t offer as much outright performance, but the smooth drivetrain is perfect for inner suburban driving where I spend the most of my time and I love the integration of technology and physical controls in the cabin.

Watching your comedy video is really fun. I test drive the 1.6T version, the interior is not comfy compared to CC. The hybrid version which is More than 10s is not acceptable compare to CC less than 8s. I have been waiting for CC for 13months. I have been looking for some other cars which can be better than CC while waiting, unfortunately I have to wait so far.

13 months. Hahahahahahahahahaha! There wasn't one CC in any trim on the forecourt when I went looking at my local Toyota dealer.
And here I thought nine was going to be rough.

I scrapped the Corolla Cross from my list. They are getting a facelift version overseas (Thailand cos they build their version there) and doesn't seem like we are getting it in Australia. It looks much better than our version. I will just go with the Kona or Seltos and call it a day. Honourable mention to the Nissan Qashkai Hybrid in TI trim, but it's FWD. Great interior though.
