About Chris Reed:
I'm just a guy who likes books a bit too much, and enjoys sharing the books I read for fun with my family and friends. I'm not affiliated with Will Wight... but if you are... I'm super jealous.
I remember seeing some folks gripe about the Abidan storyline “interfering” with the Cradle part but upon rereading the series, it’s clear that isn’t the case. It’s through Makial’s intervention in Skysworn that the Dreadgods are awakened. It’s also Eithan’s actions of wanting to raise allies to aid him as the Reaper that pushed the main narrative. So in truth, the Abidan storyline is vital to the series just based on simple cause and effect for the overall plot and characters. Your video does a great job, putting that into perspective and shows that this will be a major plot thread addressed in the final book to conclude the series. And I’m down for that.
Thanks! I spent WAY too much time on this but had a ton of fun.
I feel kind most of the people who have issues with the Abidan storyline are those who haven't done a reread since Reaper. That pretty quickly helps explain why the Abidan matters 😅
@@chrisreedreads To play devil's advocate, it plays so much in the background and the focus it gets varies on books; that I can see some folks just forgetting about it. It's only when I reread the series that I had noticed how well structured the Abidan elements were and how the most recent stuff we're seeing with Reaper and Dreadgod were lead ins from the other books.
Agreed. The lead in is great now that we know what it's all about.
@@chrisreedreads I think the introduction to the Abidan storyline is subtle and well accomplished. It is similar to how the different levels of progress were introduced. If it was to overt we wouldn't appreciate the growth of all the characters.
"THE DESTROYER HAS COME"
Chills. Literally gives me chills every time.
Pretty sure I just learned more about the Abidan from this video than from multiple rereads of the series. Maybe it’s because I only listened to the audiobooks? Regardless, thanks for the video!
Lol I'm glad you like it and that it was useful!! That's exactly the reason I wrote it all up!
1:40 Im commenting a year late but wanted to chime in. The mystery mantle would be the lost 8th mantle, the mantle of creation, which i personally think we'l lsee Lindon claim in a sequel series. Ozriel was first choice for the fox as well.
10:16 NO NOT WILL OUT OF A JOB 😱
Hahaha 🤣😂
Awesome content man! Filled in a lot of blanks for me!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!
This really helped me understand the rivalry between the two judges! Can you please make a video of Eithan’s life/ timeline? I love how he is the only character to appear in more than one series
What other series is he in?
@@endtimesarehere1322 He appears in the Elder Empire series in the book Of Kings and Killers.
Very nice (im at 2 : 03) but ozriel COULD get every mantle but phenix he wasn't FIRST CHOICE for one
Edit: first
Ah! Ok ok, so he may have been first for 5 of the Mantles and second for the remaining Mantle (that wasn't the Phoenix).
Thanks for that clarification, that makes a lot of sense!
Your welcome
It didn't cost him his house it caused it to fall and become broken with many of his family members dying becoming a smaller faction in hiding after which he left the continent. also Ozriel has 6 of the 7 judges powers he has zero potential has a Pheonix.
I know the Abidan storyline matters... I just think it's done in a very boring way. I barely know those characters and their feats are so over the top it's hard to care.
I'm more impressed with Lindon melting a mountain with his black fire than when a top Abidan yawns and a galaxy explodes.
Ah, I happen to have that issue with Superman. For some reason I don't feel the same about the Abidan, but I can definitely see how that'd be the case.
Agreed. I definitely skimmed (sometimes even skipped) all the Abidan stuff while reading the series. This video is pretty cool though. I may have to pay attention to those parts when I reread the series....maybe ;)
Rereads are DEFINITELY worth it! You should do it!
