To be honest.... That was the best advertising for an audiobook I've ever heard, because I'll buy and listen to that book now regardless of what it's about.
I can imagine walking down a dark alley and hearing a man speak with a woman's voice and wetting myself knowing that my death would not be quick or at all painless.
You are a narrator that l search for books on Audible and that is how l found Cradle. I have just finished Waybound and needed to gush!! Your variety of vocal work for a massive cast of characters was phenomenol. Your emotional acting made the entire series satisfying. When l doubted the story (Blackflame and Bloodline) your narration held my interest. Will Wight wrote an incredible tale but you, Mr Baldree, brought it home for me. Thank you. My favourite vocals: 1 Eithan: His accent and lively delivery. 2 Lindon: Loved the contrast betwen his humble tone and when he bellows his commands. 3 Ziel: A most perfect drawl and you conveyed his soul even though he had the least dialogue | POV of pivotal characters. 4 Fury: Such an awesome hippie vibe that he stole every scene for me! 5 Malice: Her vocals had a sultry feline quality? I always forgot she was voiced by a man!! 6 Fisher Gesha: Elderly done right. 7 Dross: A robot with personality
Watching this after I finished the Cradle series. This makes me miss the Cradle universe. Thank you for making the characters come to life! I love your narration! You're amazing!
Your narration, just as much as Will Wight’s story telling, is one of the reasons that I think this series should be fleshed out into an entire animated show. Something like Avatar the Last Airbender. The characters just have so much charm and the world is so vibrant. Sometimes I feel like I’m looking into a real world when I read the Cradle series.

I know I am 3 years late to the party, but this was amazing. I love Cradle. I have brought my wife and numerous friends into the world of Cradle and introduced them to some of my favorite characters of all time. You, Travis, were awesome in the Rebel Galaxy games, but I fell in love with your talent listening to the adventure found within Will Wight's pages. I am now training to pursue my dream of becoming a voice over artist and to one day follow you and ascend to the heavens.

This past august I listened to the entire series, and man I’ll never not associate the characters with your portrayal of them. Your voice is inseparable from the characters. Your Mercy IS Mercy to me. Same with Yerin, Dross and everyone else. Even watching you now I can’t help but picture everyone as if they’re all real, distinct people(or turtles or AI) the moment you turn their voice on. Great work my man. With every voice you do I get such an incredible case of whiplash because those are their voices and I don't think I can separate their voices from them.
My first attempt at the first cradle book many years ago I didn't love the book and I didn't love your narration. I think it was just that the story and your voice were so different than what I had been used to at that point. (which wasn't much) my second attempt at the series led me to falling in love with them and I can easily say cradle is my favorite series ever, and you are my favorite narrator by far. This was fascinating to watch.
I never listen to audiobooks but this sounds like I'll have to "re-read" the series. Those voices are amazing, especially the Hiddleston Loki-esque Eithan
You probably won’t see this since it’s been years but I just want to say that I’ve really enjoyed your narration of this series. It’s enhanced my experience with it because of how colorful and varied it is. I can’t explain it because it’s not just about you doing different accents. I think it’s acting. I get lost in the narration in a way I don’t with most other books because I can feel the personality of each character. There’s so much character and personality in your acting that I forget it’s being narrated at all. Also your narration outside of the dialogue flows so smoothly it always effectively communicates the correct tone, seamlessly transitioning from dramatic moments to comedic moments etc. And adding real weight to the action. I know nothing about voice acting so I’m sure there are many more techniques and talents you employ that I don’t pick up on. Just wanted to express my appreciation for delivering these truly treasured experiences to me. Edit: I admit, I wrote all of this immediately upon clicking on the video because these were the feelings I had from reading. I’m glad that a lot of my observations about your strengths were affirmed and expanded upon as I watched this video. I hadn’t exactly picked up on the shift in Lindon’s voice but I FELT his growth. Also, I love how you mentioned that no one in the series (at this time up to underlord) will sound like Yerin. But maybe it’s just me but I did pick up hints of Yerin in the sword sage flashback in Wintersteel. As if just a little bit of his personality and mannerism rubbed off on her.

Your voice for Orthos especially gives me chills when he gives Lindon pep talks about being a dragon (Ghostwater, before Lindon VS the Dragon) Amazing work :)
This is exactly why you are in the top tier of narrators for me. You put so much effort into making the characters more real and unique. After Cradle I have explored other stories you have narrated and I hope others will add well. The narrations you've done for Tao Wang are just as good.
I recommend this series to every one I can, and a large part of that is due to the absolute master piece that Will made in it's creation, but no small part is due to Travis himself who is a god among Voice Actors, and did such an astounding job at bringing these characters to life. It's to the point I day dream about it being made into a animated show with just Travis voicing every role, I just can't imagine anyone else, even among the numerous VA out there doing such a perfect job at brining the story to life. Travis Baldree is by far my favorite VA, and his delivery in the Cradle series, now complete, has made it my all time favorite series to listen to.

I just recently discovered the cradle series or rather re-discovered it, I found unsouled in my pile of to be read or in this case listened pile of books and I polished off all the books up to and including uncrowned in a week and I have to say you're a great narrator.

Oh my goodness. So happy to find this on RUclips! I listened to all 10 books that are out so far and then the Traveler's Gate trilogy, then the Elder Empire trilogy "light side, reading shadow side in Kindle". Listening to all of these books cemented Will Wight as one of my favorite authors, right up there with Brandon Sanderson, and Travis is one of my two favorite readers, right up there with Michael Kramer. My wife is more of a reader, so hadn't heard any of Travis' voices, but she laughed out loud when she heard Dross' voice. She says Dross is her spirit animal. 🤣
I love how you bring out all of these characters! It goes beyond just a change in tone. You make it sound like they have a whole lifetime of personality!
I'm reading paperback books and I had to listen to your Wintersteel except to hear your impression of Dross' voice. In my head he sounds like David Mitchell, a British comedian, who plays Mark in the comedy Peep Show among other series. My reality has been shattered 😭!

I love how as soon as you start talking about a character your voice changes ever so slightly toward that character the whole time before you start actually doing the voice

Honestly Ive listened to every audio book you have narreted, no disrespect to the books you've narrated (Cradle is my favorite book series ever) but you really make every book 10x better with the huge amount of intrigue and gives it so much more "character" with your different accents or just different tones you use for different characters which really brings alive for me. I started reading the series a month back and now I'm onto winter steel and this is my first time hearing the audios of the characters since I was reading but OH MY GOD WHY DIDN'T I IMAGINE EITHAN AS TOM HIDDLESTON IT MAKES TOO MUCH SENSE ALSO HELL YEAH IM NOT THE ONLY ONE HEARING DROSS AS WHEATLEY
A book series has to be really good before I'll buy the audiobook. I'll know its worth it, because I've read the print version a couple of times before I commit the Audible credits. On rare occassions, the audiobook is better than the print, better than how it played out in my head. And all of those, every single one, is by Mr. Baldree.
You totally need to do the book that has no known as the book that no narrator will touch and definitely need to do something with soundbooth theater live

This was great! I had only read the books until recently when I decided to do a re-read audio style of the whole series. A book series has to be really good before I'll buy the audiobook. I'll know its worth it, because I've read the print version a couple of times before I commit the Audible credits. On rare occassions, the audiobook is better than the print, better than how it played out in my head. And all of those, every single one, is by Mr. Baldree.

This was great! I had only read the books until recently when I decided to do a re-read audio style of the whole series. I'd love to hear how you came up with Akura Fury's voice - there is something just slightly familiar while he sounds like no one else in the series. Anyway, glad I stumbled on this!!
