Hey Everyone! So this video was originaly... 45 minutes long!! (o.o)
If you guys are interested in a LONGER version of perhaps a different style of Japanese Supermarket, let me know below!!
And it’s linked at the end, but here’s Sherry’s channel! ruclips.net/channel/UCrUXL60iLgwjMowTF-toqWA
Tokyo Lens this video made me so hungry! I’d happily watch 45 minutes more 😋
Tokyo Lens I’m down for a longer one! Possibly a Japanese brand store next time, that can show the differences? This store definitely seems like an old school US grocery store.
gimme all that candy 'n' crisps asmr...
Would definitely watch those 45min and even more
Yes, upload that long one to.
This video made me hungry lol
you're always hungry Sharla lol and gorgeous too obviously
Me too.
Chris didn't show up! omg!
@@howardshubs7157 we need more sneaky crossover cameos !
Me too! I have seen the coffee before in a Chinese market in the USA. They were made in India but packaged in a Japanese marked bag.
It was a lot more fun than I thought! We don’t have SEIYU in Ehime so it was a fun experience:D Thanks Norm~
Thanks for opening up the time on your visit!
Maybe I can get people to bug you enough in this comments section to come back one day to do a podcast episode with me!
@@TokyoLens yes! Do it! We love to hear from Sherry
If you don't have SEIYU, what supermarket do you have in Ehime? Please make a video ^_^
We have a SEIYU in my little town of Minami-Kusatsu.
Tokyo Lens no more vids with sherry I enjoy the vids when u guys are together!!! 👍
Do the thing, hang out for a podcast!
I didn’t expect a supermarket tour was just what I needed to pick my day up! Definitely on board with any longer videos. Also, the bloopers were a grand idea and I’m looking forwards to seeing more!
I live in Southern California and there’s a city with a huge Japanese population and they have stores like this one you showcased! How cool, most items you were showing I could find at supermarkets that I like to frequent. Thanks for showing off a Japanese supermarket
That’s really cool!
Thank you so much for sharing that!!
I am missing Japan so much that videos like these, just with the everyday stuff are very reminiscent!! Thank you!
Loved the video and love the bloopers, I would definitely be interested in both the longer version and any other style of shops.
Woooot!
Love people who watch the whole vid 😊 lol
I think this was the first video I ever got to watch from you. My husband and I came across it while looking for videos on Japan. Weve been wanting to go since 2018! Thank you for this video. It sparked our desire even more to want to experience their culture and food!
Love these 'everyday' Japan videos! 💗 Sheri was such a great partner, please consider collaborating with her on more videos!
Wow! That was fun to watch. Looking forward for the longer version of the video. I got to know so much about the price of food in different countries. Thanks Norm :)
Amazed how fun a simple video about a supermarket is, when you and Sherry are involved.
PS: a 45 mins video with you two wandering around a supermarket would be fun to watch :D
I think I'm narrowing down where I need to visit when I finally come to Japan! A definite yes to a longer supermarket tour!
As a Japanese American, 1) Had no idea that spirits were so cheap there, 2) Going to ignore the whole short Japanese eggplant vs. long North American eggplant thing ;-p , 3) I can't believe Sherry doesn't like natto. シェリーさん、どうして納豆が嫌いのだな?めっちゃうまいのに! Thanks again for the super-entertaining vid, Norm!
Thanks Norm! Enjoy your videos ... wish there were more. Sherry is always a happy sight to see! Thank you for reminding us just how affordable living in Japan can be.
This video, more than any of the travel or sightseeing videos, made me miss Japan so much. I LOVE Japanese supermarkets
Love your videos Norm. Sherry’s smile is so infectious too!
Man, I've been in the Rox building several times and have actually eaten at that Choco-Cro but had no idea there was a market there. Love exploring markets and seeing what they have. One thing I really enjoy is finding US brands being sold and checking out how they change the name and labels. Dannon's Bio yogurt is called Activa in the USA as an example.
What a lovely companion! Suits you well not to go out all alone. I really like to see everyday japaneese reality and having someone 'native' with you that grounds your feelings is nice. Keep up the good work!
That was where my husband and I got our first meal in Japan!! Definitely going back there now that I know the name!
Ah I love Sherry so much she’s so fun! Loved the tour I hope you got/get her to try a bunch of the stuff she hadnt seen before!!
so cool! I love to go to the grocery store/supermarket in different countries I visit to see how different everything is. So fun ! Great video. Definitely interested in the longer version
Very interesting - loved this, it's nice to see something that's connected to ordinary daily life in Japan, for locals it's might be boring but for us who have never been to Japan a video like this is great fun.
I love checking out all the snacks in Japanese and other Asian markets that are around here, they always have such a crazy selection.
I've already been binging your channel over the past week or so, so now having more of a reason to is great!
Loved it! It’s amazing how much like Walmart it is, the self checkout in English made me lol 😂 and I loved the bloopers!!
Great job again Norm!! ❤️
I love that video, definitely something else haha, would also watch for 45 minutes 😂
but wow so many thing are really cheap now I can't wait to go to a supermarket in Tokyo
Thanks Norm, that was fun! I'm always surprised at Japan's fruit prices--always. I think if I ever visited, I would just have to go to a farm or farmer's market stand or something, lol. I love all the rice and curry dishes--I would definitely eat a lot of those. Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream for the win! Glad you and Sherri had a great time--I loved the bloopers!!
Lol Norm knows his bacon... sweets and coffee ... perfect tour guide...
Lol bacon sweets and coffee
Add popcorn and that’s pretty much my life outside of youtube lol
Loved the video; always enjoy price and product comparisons. Well done,Norm.
Thanks for the video Norm, Enjoyed the tour of the supermarket. Always fun to learn about something new.
Thanks Mark!
There.... may be a longer version coming lol
@@TokyoLens Looking forward to it, I have to eat before the next video though it makes me far to hungry watching all this food. Also good to see Sherry in the video. Odd add in but the average egg plant in a supermarket in the US is about 15" inches or 38 cm so much larger then those in the video.
Sherry!!
Loved the tour! It was really informative and neat!
Thank you so much for posting a video like this. I've always wanted to visit Japan but haven't yet and I was curious on their prices and how everything set up in a supermarket in Japan this gives me a fair idea on what to expect.
the coloured covering for the melons is so cool!! such a simple way to show what type it is
LOVE!!!! Japanese supermarkets especially the bento/tempura section extra special when discounted.
A new place to add to my list when I come to Japan 💕
Perfect timing Norm! Now I know where to get snacks before leaving Japan :D
This video was put up the day before I had my first Coolish. Pete Donaldson on Abroad in Japan raved about it, so I had to try it. All I've wanted ever since is for Coolish to come to America. So good!
Loved the video. That is one of the things I love doing when travelling...checking out the supermarket in different countries. Japan and China have been the most interesting so far.
I love Tokyo Tuesdays so much !
Hi there! I always watch but never comment. This time I will. I just want you to know how much I appreciate your videos. I also like to visit supermarkets when I travel and find interesting products to try. Keep up the great work!
Just discovered your channel and this awesome! Between supermarkets and the convenience stores ... I had a lot of fun discovering new things ... now need to find your full length video
Im going to japan in a week for a working holiday, thanks for the video was super useful! i wanna try the things you recommended 💕
as always, thx for the video Norm :)
The longer version would be so cooool too!
It reminds me so much of my trip to Japan last summer :)
Wait, Seiyu is owned by Walmart!?...if only Walmart will sell stuff from Seiyu... haha
I support that lol
Walmarts in Hawaii has some stuff from Seiyu.
YES!!! More Japanese supermarkets pleeeeease! I love natto! 😍
Omg yas!!! Supermarkets are my happy place! Especially in different countries! I’m definitely down for a longer video!
I miss those curry rice cakes! 🤤
And I absolutely love those Ume chips! 😂
Great work guys!! Can’t wait for the next one!
Another great video! My favorite section... aside from the sweets... is the grand prepared food section! Ohhhh so great! I generally hate grocery shopping, so boring, but shopping with both of you was very fun! Great vid! Thanks for sharing!👌💕🍱🍙
Wow, thanks for the tour. I was stationed at Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa Japan in 1985. I miss Japan.
It was a nice tour, thanks! But even I just finished my breakfast I got hungry at bento section 😅. And again bloopers put me into better mood 👍. Have a great Golden Week.
So cool to see you do a video somewhere I’ve been before! The liquor prices are insane.
Hi Norm! I love your guest every time I see her ^^ Oh man, there's still so much Japanese food I don't know of, that I want a video on more of it. Seiya reminds me of Uwajimaya in Seattle! Uwajimaya is full of other items like gifts, kitchenware, and it also has it's own cafeteria for shoppers! Theres also a cute little book store/gift store within its walls. (I wanted to buy everything). On the same happy note, there's a Daiso right across the parking lot. Daiso has everything! Please post more food videos! Thank you so much ♡
Supermarkets are always fun stops!!
So much fun to see a place we visited while we were in Asakusa! The alcohol prices surprised us too coming from Canada.
Really enjoyed this video! It’s interesting to see the differences between Japanese supermarkets and supermarkets in Canada.
Also enjoyed the bloopers at the end 😁😂
team #totheend represent!! Lol
Love all your videos.....especially the super market and the thirft stores.....the apartment ones were cool too..Rock on 😎
That was fun! When I lived in Kagoshima many years ago, there was much less English, so shopping could be hit or miss. I got a chawanmushi (savoury custard) once by mistake … still haunts me . I visited Japan again in 2017 and remembered many of the snacks fondly …
Also Sherry's natto reaction... priceless!
You know I really don’t think about supermarkets there much. Fascinating
That supermarket was amazing! The vast array of different foods. I need to stop by one and buy a suitcase full of goodies!
Interesting and informative! It's interesting that it's owned by Wal-Mart. When I visited Scotland, they had Asda near where we stayed, which was also owed by them. We'll have to check this one out! Drawing close to our departure!!! Thanks for the great videos!
Supermarkets in japan is definitely one of the things I heavily miss now that I’m back in Canada!
That was fun, my favorite sections are the sushi, snacks, and pre-made bentos 🍱 😀
I love the bento boxes in Japanese supermarkets! 😃
Me too!!
Lovely video Norm I’m looking forward to seeing Japan
Thank you~
Love Japanese supermarkets, I could spend hours in them alone. Great vlog Norm
It's always a interesting experience to visit supermarket in different countries.
Saludos desde Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.
I love Japan it is like I am always getting to explore😊
YEAH! Tokyo Tuesday!
When I studied abroad in Nagoya, I had this peanut cream (15:12) all the time. That's nostalgic. Thanks for reminding me :)
I love the late evening discount.
I’m one of those viewers that live vicariously through your videos and I wanted to thank you for putting your heart and soul into them! It really brightens my day when I watch one... or seven. 😄 Your enthusiasm is wonderfully contagious! I would love to see a longer video and maybe you could answer a question of mine? I would really love to visit Japan one day, but there’s just one problem. I have MCS and to avoid migraines at all cost I only eat organic food. In the States we have the USDA Organic seal to let consumers know that the product is certified organic. Is there something like that in Japan?
Japan is admittedly a bit behind on that, but getting better every month! Best bet right now is purchasing online!
Tokyo Lens Thanks for letting me know!
Wauw, Sharla uploading an old style vlog, you showing us around a supermarket. It's like old school RUclips :P Very interesting to see and hear the differences in the products!
I will definitely go there the next time I am in Asakusa. I Usually shop at life just up the street near Asakusa View hotel. Enjoyed the video. Keep up the good work.
we have umeboshi in the States at certain markets :)
When I was in Japan, I fell in love with those pour coffees since they had it at the places I stayed! I got them at the local Japanese markets back here in the States but they are more expensive of course! However some American brands make them and they are like $5-6 FOR ONE SERVING! It's insane. I just get the Japanese ones and have them at work or camping!
Lovely video, I really can't wait to come back!
We went to Aeon supermarket at Urayasu when we were in Japan, it was fun. 1 thing we notice though, the amount of plastic bags the shop use, while here in England now we try to not use plastic bag at all.
Hiya
I enjoy longer videos as I tend to watch RUclips while I'm doing other things, like cooking or the dishes.
And I just love Sherry's energy so definitely look forward to more collabs.
Ooh also the discounted bentos in the evening was such a good tip for people travelling on a budget or students on an exchange. They're such a good price anyway though, the bentos in my local supermarket are £10+ (though to be fair they are made fresh in a kitchen you can peep into). X
glad you went with the short and snappy version!
Just ended up cutting out all the overly Normal stuff lol
That supermarket seemed to stock a lot of foreign foods...love Japanese supermarkets. I also love the food halls in the bottom of places like Sogo. Amazing quality - nothing but the best!! Australia could learn a lot!!
I absolutely love watching Japanese supermarket videos. The closest thing I have is h-mart which I do love but it is far.
I LOVE Black thunder! I bought it once on a whim off Ebay and OMG good! I also like the Ume potato chips I got them in my japan crate before!
This crossed my recommendations again today and I just had to watch it again. Any Norm video is time we'll spent, and touring a supermarket like this is strangely interesting to me
I love all your videos!
For me, the best part of shopping would be to treasures you can find in the prepared bento section, whether for home, picnic, or a trip.
Hey Sherry! Just saw you in your new video line! Japanese supermarkets are an adventure to be sure. More and longer videos are always welcome.
More and longer to come!!
An interesting upload. I am a Japanese national who lives in Toronto, ON, Canada. The first things I noticed about this Japanese supermarket, in comparison with my local Toronto supermarkets 1. space between aisles is rather narrow 2. the floor is white, shiny, and clean 3. the ceiling is rather low. Another thing I want to mention is that (as for candy/snack sections) up till I moved here to Toronto, I had never ever seen ketchup flavored potato chips in Japan (they are just gross....). I miss those end-of-the-day marked down bentos!
Omg!!! I was in Asakusa yesterday but I didn’t see you and Sherry 😭😭😭😭😭😭! I wish I can meet you and Sherry in person, because your videos and hers are one of the reasons why I come to Japan to experience as a resident!
great vid! was wanting to see something like this!
Yesss... I missed Tokyo Tuesdays super ultra much.
Me too 😊
Supermarket makes me happy specially 24hrs open👏👏👏 love it❤️...
Notification squad!
I always look forward to your videos!
Thanks so much!!!
Gonna have to agree with Sherry. Those black thunder bars are the best
7:55 I just found those exact UCC one cup pour overs at a local Japanese supermarket . I got the Mocha and Special blend , can’t wait to try em our !
The odds I rewatch this video the same day I go to that store in a long time still blow my mind but I made sure to check for the coffee 👌
That's amazing~
also... kinda loving the binge of old videos youve got going on lately lol
hope youre doing well~
I love when they do videos together they are too cute
Very helpful and amazing video, as always! Love Sherry collabs 😊
Holy hell, I LOVE LOVE LOVE peanut cream! I only just found this video now. Crazy! But when I was in Japan last, peanut cream was my greatest discovery by far.
I remember Seiyu in the 80s, pre-walmart, and it was more of a total department store with just the grocery stuff in the basement. Once I took the escalator down to the food area and saw a big, still-living sea turtle being butchered.
Chocolate section was probably the most interesting 🤤
This was a very enjoyable video.
I would wander around that place and be in awe of it all
A supermarket shopping haul might actually be interesting! I remember I was totally overwhelmed when I stayed in Japan and didn't know what I should get. I took me a while to figure out all the different soup styles, furikake flavors, curry options... if you showed some of your favorites, it might give people an idea what to try. ;)
Was super overwhelmed too for a while. Sometimes I didn't get anything, and sometimes I got too much when I left the markets.
