Would you camp solo in Japan? Join the discussion in the comments below and let us know your thoughts!~!
*SUPER Excited for the upcoming livestream roadtrip on the new channel!!* -- All details are in the description box (along with a full-tour of the campervan if you haven't seen yet!)
Come join the crew and help choose where we go for our next adventure!!
I would love camping alone!
I would try it, I usually feel the need to be alone for a bit. But I would probably prefer going with a friend in the end if they wanted to join. I would love to just travel around Japan but we'll have to wait until the restrictions are lifted so I can move.
Hell yeah. That camper van, maybe extra solar panels, definitely a beefy LiFePo powerstation, and I'd be set to do some wicked astrophotography. That'd be the dream.
Is it still solo camping if I bring my dog? She'd love the mountains and woods.
But it sounds fun!
The idea is intriguing but the thought of bears, odd insects (thanks Chris Broad) and no signal in any number of areas outweigh the thrill factor. I'll just live vicariously for now. I hope to see a camping trip with you and Sharla. I'd include Chris but I don't think that's on his top ten list of things to do.
Not even half a minute in and already dropping stuff, Linus could learn from you 😜
😂
My worlds just collided in a single comment 😂
I finally found the 20% that watch this channel and ltt
Kai, Linus, & Norm.
Was not expecting an LTT comment lol this made my day
For you people who watch Yuru Camp out there, Mt. Takabotchi is where Rin solo camped on ep 5 ^^. It is great seeing it IRL here \0/
holy sh.. i swear ive seen this place before i thought.
So that's why it looks so familiar!
Oh my gosh, the views from that second campsite, just wow! Gorgeous!
I've only been camping once before, but after being cooped up in my apartment for the last year I would totally go, solo or not!
I love being able to connect your live streams and videos with behind the scenes videos like this!
Can’t wait for the next stream!!
I feel like I say this on every video but Japan is just absurdly beautiful. The view from that second campsite was incredible and that's only on my phone screen.
I’m sure cameras just can’t do it enough justice but I’m totally with you! It looks like such a beautiful country! One day I hope to visit it!!
Living the life, Norm. Holy shit.
... I should move.
I support that decision~
I support that decision .
I want to be able to do that decision myself, unfortunately I'm in college 😂
@@KEI23675 It's way harder when you have a job and your parents are getting older so you have to be there for them. Look for exchange programs! They arrange so much for you that you'd otherwise have to figure out on your own. The hardest part at that age is saving up enough money to be able to make the trip in the first place and to do touristy stuff on the regular.
Sup Norm!
I want to go camping so bad, haven't been in years. The summer heat in Alabama is killer though
Need a fan! Lol
Very much so!
I get that! I miss camping! Maines weathers been out of wack recently!
I bet the Pinhoti trail looks amazing in autumn!
I don't even like camping that much, but doing it in a car, even a kei car, looks a lot more palatable. Your adventures are always inspiring me to think about different ways to do things I probably would have just avoided altogether beforehand.
Also, the night view from that foggy second campsite is pretty cool.
Wonderful music in today’s video, Norm! It’s the morning in my part of the world, and it all just made the video feel a bit more magical. Thank you for the video!!
Glad you enjoyed it
i always feel like im running out of music haha
Whatever it is you are doing, it’s working!
Your enthusiasm is so contagious, and makes all your contents so incredibly enjoyable!
Anytime there is any b-roll i just say "wow" and that's exactly why i want to go to Japan!
Thank you for bringing us Japan deprived viewers along your adventures.. Really appreciate it..
Damn that payoff with the rainbow was incredible, haven't been camping too often but seems like a REALLY good way to get exploring and seems fun. Might have to get into it again lol
The mountainous backroads were definitely the way to go; they were so picturesque and gorgeous. Thanks as always, Norm!
That sea of clouds at sunrise was one of the most beautiful things. It must have been magical to experience in person. And I've definitely added it to my bucket list.
Great video and I always look forward to the notifications on Sunday mornings for the new vid. Hope you're having a great day!
Definitely going solo camping in Japan after watching Yuru Camp, and now this! If only the borders would open up soon.
that campsite he used was one of the campsites featured in yuru camp too.
It's already a good sunday and this video pop up on my notification just makes it better
Hope the rest of the day is great~
Usually I avoid narrow roads, but these winding treks through the mountains…may have changed my mind. Loved the sea of clouds…so beautiful and serene. Thank you for waking up early to capture it!
Oh wow. That mountain top viewpoint was just spectacular with the flowers and clouds and rainbow. Couldn't tell what the red flowers were but lovely either way. Even with the fog! Really loving these camping vids, definitely excited for the road trip coming up too! I would so love to go solo camping in Japan! It would be such a nice way to get out and recharge from all the hustle and bustle of the big cities. I know they have their own greenspaces and their own charm, but being able to get back to big wild spaces like the woods, mountains, or the ocean is what makes my heart happy. Thanks again for posting this one!
More camper van streams!!!! This is amazing. Thank you so much.
Thanks for joining!
that rainbow with the picturesque landscape has me speechless🤩 what a view😌
Always take the backstreet! You’ll never ever regret it! Thanks for always posting these videos at this time. Getting the notifications means I’m always one of the first to watch the whole thing when I have time!!
Thanks so much Nicole!!
Everyone excited about the rainbow and I'm over here like "fog!" 😍 I used to get fog where I lived and sometimes I couldn't even see the pine trees right across the street. But where I've been living for about 2 years now, no fog. Ugh. I miss the fog; absolutely love it.
I would 100% camp solo in Japan! This looks like so much fun! Also the fog at 6:48 reminds me of something out if Silent Hill, just waiting for pyramid head to casually walk through it in the background😅😅
Much love from Arizona ❤️❤️
A Veritech fighter in a second-hand shop? Awesome!
That shot after coming up the mountain, walking to the view point, looks straight out of a film or anime
The rural roads in Japan look very similar to those in the UK. Narrow winding roads are common in the UK too.
What I like about your channel is that you seem are talking to just the person watching, and not an audience
I *camp* believe we get this quality for free! Like a tv documentary...
I've gone down the rabbit hole of camper vans and the van-lifestyle vids thanks to you lol. Definitely inspiring!
Haha glad you’re enjoying it so much 😊
That drive up was worth it just for the rainbow Adobe alone. It reminds me a lot of the drive up the Sandia Mountains in Albuquerque, NM. The drive started at 70 degrees and dropped to 23 degrees at the top!
Camping in the mountains seems so relaxing
I hope you continue this camping series! I love this casual yet fun adventures in unknown places of Japan!
Norm! Ok so had to share that I just got a new TV and decided to watch a bunch of TL camping videos as the inaugural ones....and best decision EVER! Such vivid colours, crystal clear resolution and felt like I was actually inside the damn screen. That rainbow & flowers from this viewpoint?!! WOW. (it's a Samsung 50", because I know you're wondering) 🌸
Your adventures always lead to such beauty! Thanks for sharing with us!! 🥰
Glad you like them!
hope your day is great~
I've always loved taking scenic, rural routes! Yeah it takes longer, but it's fun to just get a glimpse into places that aren't meant to be touristy.
There are very few vehicles I would ever want to own. That van is on the list: so amazing!
Is always a happy Sunday whenever Norm post! Hugs from Brazil!
Glad I could put this one up!
that mountain is burnt into my brain it really is beautiful , also the fog was oddly scary but the lighting the fire omitted + you cooking your dinner made it an oddly peaceful piece of scenery , cool video as always !
The view on the moutain looked amazing ! Really beautiful
I love your videos so much! I am sitting at home recovering from covid and your videos just warm my heart
Outdoors in Japan, no better place in the World. Love it Norm, nice one.
Thanks Robb!
Wow that view is beautiful. The sea of clouds.
I probably wouldn't camp solo in Japan, mainly because I don't drive so logistically it would be an issue to do so. The little kei car camper seems a very good way to do so though if people do. Although it does seem that you could spend weeks it and still not find all the features.
Of course taking the back roads is always the best choice even if it takes longer! Although are you sure, given the size, that that was a sento and not just someone's bathroom!
And, if course, great t-shirt design from Laura 💜💜💜
I guess that means I have to drive for our camping trip then? lol
I like how the lore about a video expands with added live streams and behind the scenes vlogs, so you get an all around picture :D
Also, I swear I have seen that hill with the rainbow in Yuru Camp.
My favorite thing is camping! Pretty well equipped for any kind of camping but that van, enticing!
Your video are getting better and better. 👍🏽👍🏽
Man, loving your work lately. Also liking how you are able to create multiple videos out of a single trip and weave them all together. Its like little easter eggs for people that watch all your videos.
🌈 Gorgeous rainbow. ✨
Rainbows come to me in the best moments of life. 💗
As someone who wants to visit Japan I LOVE your content
Awesome Norm, I’d camp solo if I knew the area really well
💪
red flower mountain top rainbow = pure epicness
The view from that mountain top, spectacular!
You know your on the right channel, when the cam gets throw around right at the start. =)
Thank you for your time in camping. I loved it so much. I have never gone camping alone but loved to camp with friends and family cuz it’s fun.
Fantastic as always! Now I definitely HAVE to go camping in Japan!
And… I’m nothing if not predictable, COOL T-SHIRT 👀👀👀
Best
T-Shirt
Ever
@@TokyoLens I wasn’t expecting you to actually mention the tshirt in the video. 😭💖
@@lauraboanas7817 hell yea
And take a peek at the description box 😉
@@TokyoLens 🥺😭💖 absolutely amazing. I honestly can’t thank you enough!
Ahhhh! 6:04 Thought so, the pathway to the top, the overlook to Lake Suwa and Okaya....yeah the animators of Yuru Camp really nailed their depiction of that area. (For those interested it's season 1 episode 5). So envious of you Norm.
As soon as I saw those stairs I figured that this was it. Fun part is those places in the anime all exist, would be fun to check them all out. Yuru camp was part of my inspiration last year to tour western US national parks solo last year in my truck for 3 weeks during Covid
the scene is so beautiful, i wish i could see it with my own eye
11:35 Norm is driving a Kei camper van and STILL manages to lose stuff inside it! I guess the Japanese must have TARDIS technology-bigger on the inside!
I loved the scenery on the mountaintop. That drone is a real asset to enhance your videos.
I seriously doubt I could walk out of one of those second hand stores with my arms empty.
Thank you for this. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I got the Doctor Who reference! Yas! lol. Japan: Norms coming. Challenge accepted!
I gotta say, I'm always still bobbing my head along with the music choices on this channel. Makes the video that much more fun to watch.
Please do more of these camper videos - they are so cool to watch!
Luckily there are like 5 or 6 already!!
This is one o' my dream bucket list items. Not even in Japan, even doing that (solo camping) in my own country would spark joy for my frigid soul. 😊♥️🇵🇭
since watching this vid I'm planning on going to Japan next year to follow in your footsteps, looks like ana amazing way to travel Japan
Beautiful area with the rainbow in the distance
Here's your "oh, that was random" comment for the day: This is probably the first time I've "seen" you go to an onsen/sento and you were totally conservative and unobtrusive about it. I don't know; I just like how that matches he whole vibe of your channel. We need more of that on the Internet nowadays.
Seas of clouds = always worth it.
Those drone shots are amazing! What a beautiful location. Love the pink/orange flowers on the hills.
I've never been the type of person who enjoys camping but holy crap Norm, the vibe of your videos is something else. So beautiful and calming and just plain enjoyable to watch. You make me want to pack up and go into the Japanese forest (I cannot, I am stuck in Australia).
Weekend camping here in japan is one of the most fun things I can think of. Never gets old
Going back to make sure I have fully watched every video and making sure I comment too. 😉 I loved that sunrise footage. Props for getting up at 4:30!! Also that public bath was really small. 😅
🎶 Hold me closer tiny camper🎵
/That looked like fun
// Book Off is my stopping spot, seems like I can’t pass one without looking in
You are always up for an adventure Norm. I respect that about you.
A few years ago, I took the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route and stayed one night at Midagahara…. was lucky to see the sea of clouds during sunset and sunrise. It was a spectacular sight that made my heart skip. And except for my breathing, there was silence. So peaceful and so divine. One day, I’ll go back.
Love your videos mate and the music you choose is always so good too.
I am going camping tomorrow.
I am rewatching your camping related videos in order to mimic.
I hope I could get some cool footage.
Legit if I hadn't seen your video on how hard you try to be positive I NEVER would have guessed, especially in this video with you like skipping through the forest. Also bonus, my dad really enjoys watching your videos with me so thank you for making content we can share together XD
By far the grratest channel I've discovered this year. Great content and thanks for this amazing experience
no wonder you're in such good spirits and health all the time -- you get to see amazing places like this.. wow
I like that you don't pretend you're perfect and show us all the clumsy moments. Because I drop stuff a lot. Specifically my phone. I'm not even sure how. So seeing how human and normal you are and still flourishing in Japan gives me hope for when I will spend my time there.
your video is very interesting for me, I also like the world of camping, greetings from Indonesia, friends.
Ordered one of the Shamisen Pidgeon t-shirts, looking forward to it arriving.
Take care Norm.
7:05 foggy nights in the middle of nowhere is what I live for- silent hill is a dream not a nightmare :)
So cool. When I went to college in Sacramento CA I lived in the west foothills. The Tule Fog formed overnight and filled the valley. Driving to school in the morning you crested the last hill and saw the fog laying still and grey like a Great Lake. The descent down the hill was a steep grade so you would go from a bright, sunny day into dense fog within about a half mile, a drop of about 80-100 feet. The fog would burn off by the afternoon most days, but some seasons it would last for weeks. Several of my friends lived in the valley and had no idea that it actually wasn’t very thick. One morning I told two of my friends how cool it looked and they had no idea what I was talking about. So at lunch I drove them up the hill so they could see it for themselves. They had no idea. It’s a cool phenomenon.
Bro! I’ve been watching you for a while and your energy makes me so happy and always enlightens my day. Keep it up
I just found and watch 1 of your vids and you are now my favorite channel!
bro please upload more of camping with your mini van, love this video
I really find these videos entertaining. Good job!
More irl Yuru Camp! Loving it!
Actual YURU locations too
@@TokyoLens hell yeah!
This was the first video I saw from your channel. I would not be able to stay alone in the pitch dark. I'm afraid of the dark. Yet, that sunrise was worth it!
The Suzuki Every Join was featured on Tokyo Lens for his camping trip here. Cool that these come with AWD.
These traveling and camping videos that you did this year are great. And I learned about your other channel today, which I'm going to check out later today.
I love the videos where you camp in a Kei van. We have a few places we want to visit whenever we get to Japan - we want to see a couple of cities, and a good friend of mine lives in Kagoshima - and these camping videos make it tempting to do a road trip for at least some of the trip rather than just flying everywhere. We've done road trips together around New Zealand and Ireland so it would be lovely to do in Japan too when we get the chance. Such beautiful scenery.
Ha! Somehow discovered the explore channel 😎 i loved the round shamizen logo "hidden everywhere" ...of course special mention to the one under the cap that i'd say started it all. Oh and Norm the reason people sleep above instead of inside is because it can become stuffy down there... On top the cross flow of air is really nice especially if you're on mountains... Oh yeah that cloud cover is really something to wake up early for i'd say most mountains will always have some sort of experience like that... some say it's better than a sunset/rise...
Tfw you see the mountain view and you feel all tingly inside and start smiling like a child :)
This place is beautiful! And you are brave!
Wooooo 8:31 NOICEEE...... very Nice looking sea of clouds
And that bit of music at the ending also very noice
And as always Have a great day bruhhh!!!!
First time seen your videos and I’m already loving it, the roof of the caravane is cool
Loved the mountain views. The rainbow, ocean of clouds and even the fog was beautiful. The drone shots were spectacular as well. Although I am not a fan of driving I would love to take a motorcycle on those small mountain roads.
Thumbs up before I even watched. Your last camper tour was a winner so I'm looking forward to this!
Our favorite Summer Pass Time! How I would love to own one of that Camper Van.
