Simple yet effective. Hé also had the right enchantments luckily. I use the other krenko sometimes to make tokens on attacking and buffing himself. Also made a voltron kind of deck with him XD killing with both commander damage And a load of tokens is funny as well
Especially with everyone more worried Izami that game to keep Krenko in check with all the pieces it needed outside of umbral mantle or sword of paruns and phyrexian altar / skirk prospector .
Playing as or playing against krenko, it’s basically “do not let krenko resolve”. I’ve played a game where my krenko was countered 5 times, and I’ve also played games where the opponents krenko dies every time it’s played; if ya boy doesn’t resolve, the deck doesn’t function.
I have a krenko deck. I use tappedout as a means of play testing new EDH decks to learn how to play them, I NEVER use krenko as one of the opponents. Turn 3 krenko is out. and by turn 6 you can bet i almost have the game in the bag. Hell the first game I played with it I won, then almost won the second game after being mana screwed for 3-4 turns. My Krenko is a budget deck too. A beast of an EDH deck. The only deck I am currently making that can keep it down is The Reaper King, an entire deck of targeted removal.
Yup. Krenko is explosive and actually surprisingly resilient. There are a bunch of combos you can pull off with relatively low effort too and he can be very flexible. Definitely not T1 or overpowered, but he can absolutely have a shot at basically any table
I REALLY appreciate your thoughts on the By Force play. I mainly use mono red decks myself (Krenko and Godo) so it's nice to see even on the casual/competitive side how important it is to control the pace of the game. I feel this is the kind of play that would cause a bit of salt, but it is SUPER important to do, and it was necessary for Krenko.
As a Krenko player people never prioritise removing/countering him but I guess people don't mind losing to good old fashioned creature damage as opposed to combos.
As it appears nobody else caught it, the turn in which joseph destroys jordan's mana crypt, jordan is allowed to tap azami even though she just entered the battlefield as her ability can be used on herself because it does not contain the tap symbol, exactly how Heritage Druid functions in legacy elves decks, as such jordan missed a draw on that turn. Not sure if this was simply pilot oversight or the pilot not knowing the ruling for azami.
i like your videos, they are well done. just one suggestion: remove the part between the preview card in the middle and the frame by either increasing the size of the card or reduzing the size of the frame. i would prefer the first. especially when watching on mobile phones its hard to read the cards you dont know. keep up the good work.
I hadn't considered playing Yisan in a Gitrog deck but it looks like it can be very useful to find some of the pieces you might need. However, Yisan is not in the decklist you linked to, so maybe it was a late addition? Thanks again for the excellent content.
I know some players say Krenko is not a cEDH deck but I don't agree with that. Most cEDH decks aren't equipped to keep Krenko off the table and, like you see here, will often ignore the goblin deck while focusing on the other "more competitive" decks at the table. And I've found that even if you put cards in your deck to deal with Krenko that it can still be hard to beat, especially if the Krenko player has a fast start.
How did they let Krenko run away with creating multiple tokens? Lol the combo players were to focused on each other to worry about the amount of damage Krenko could produce and in the end got hammered by combat damage. Also if the Krenko player doesn’t play Breath of Fury in his deck build I’ll be disappointed.
That's because all three decks were about to win the game had they not been interfered with. They didn't have enough interaction to stop the insta w from gitrog or wizards and kill off krenko.
It might be nice if the competitive meter had some ticks, numbers, or other delineation between segments! It's honestly hard for me to eyeball the difference between some of them
Hi @Casually Competitive MTG! After watching most of your videos so far, I want to say that I think your gameplay is marked by tight play! I definitely enjoy this aspect and prefer it to say, seeing top tier decks piloted poorly. I'm a fan!
why didn't anyone tutor up an answer to the impact tremors, that was sloppy play for sure, they ought to know it would kill them. either deal with Krenko or deal with the impact tremors. but yeah, if you leave the Krenko player alone, he will just win out of nowhere. I've won on turn 4 without impact tremors or purphoros, I just simply generated enough tokens to swarm everyone at once because they were killing each other and leaving me alone. I need to say that one of the other players was playing Zada, Hedron grinder, so we were both playing goblin tribal and I cast that card that gave me mana equal to the amount of goblins in play, so yeah.
It wasn't much to win off of. If I remember correctly it was a crop rotation, a few lands, and some mana dorks and with only black mana up, the crop rotation wasn't castable
@@CasuallyCompetitiveMTG I was surprised Gitrog didn't at least pitch all its lands to Noose Constrictor one-by-one to dig for Dakmor Salvage. It should've drawn a card on End Step when ditching the Memory Jar hand, which wasn't mentioned but probably didn't matter either.
