Can An AI Beat RE5 Without Help? Sheva is your AI partner in Resident Evil 5. My opinion is she also happens to be a pretty horrible teammate. So can she beat the game without my assistance? Or will I have to help her along every now and then? Let's find out.

People forget that Sheva has nothing to do with the AI. If you have Chris be controlled by the AI he's just as bad.

It still baffles me that Sheva has a Left shoulder camera in the campaign mode.
Sucks how Sheva is just completely abandoned after this, really liked her character amongst the other ladies of RE. Still hope she gets some redemption in a future installment.

@@FluffyBunny9002 By the average hotness of resident evil characters she might as well be a 4 especially with RE3 Jill dropping a nuclear bomb on the bar, you might be right on the second point but considering the series it's not saying much.
She's a legendary skin in dead by daylight if that helps

You CAN actually make Sheva just walk into explosives, Dante. I do it all the time lmao
Just have her set to 'cover' first and then set her to attack, she will run forward everytime

0:20 Sheva doesn't heal you when you don't need it, she heals herself, but is programed to always use healing items next to the player to make the most of them
But she's basically full health in that clip. Unless the AI is programmed to heal even at 90% health.

Sheva always heals either herself or Chris if their health gauge is orange.
@@frankkennedy6388 She healed Chris because he was low on health, and what NemesisWesker says is true. If she is low on health, she will come to Chris to heal him if there is no enemy, even with full health, otherwise she will heal herself. I've played the game and messed with the A.I so I would know.

Oh, it's possible in normal mode or below, it's just that some bosses cannot be defeated only using sheva, unless you give her an infinite rocket launcher. It's only impossible for her to succeed in hard difficulty.
If you have the Xbox One or the PlayStation 4 version EAI is a lot better It seems that he's playing on the PlayStation 3 so ai is bad
I love watching AIs do stuff. Maybe this is why I enjoy games like World Box so much, or watching Civ and Paradox games play out over time lapse.
yeah, i used to play cs1.6 and just spectate the bots. I guess it's a way to appreaciate the dev'ss work.
the Warriors franchise is great for this. massive battles filled with Ai

oh also the prototype series is pretty good for watching large groups of Ai fight.
Speaking of Ai doing stuff.....the most awesome npcs I came across in a game were in dead rising, the 1st one. It was the 3 women that got trapped by the evil fatass security / cop chick mini boss. I save them but considering the fact its 3 npcs to lead thru a majorly infested area to the safe room, I decided to arm them. I actually had a few smgs on hand n figured...eh might as well try it. What I expected was for them to just be slightly more capable than being unarmed. What I didnt expect was that with the smgs......they became ruthless goddesses of death and destruction. The super infested outdoor plaza area we had to run thru was freaking purged in like 10 seconds. Not only that but after entering into the next building the sniper family mini boss encounter happened. I was thinkin "ah fuck this wont end w-" and as I was thinking that the 3 death deities fucking slaughtered the snipers like it was nothing. I....really really did not want to take them to the safe room after that but sadly had to. Was one of those moments in games that made me wonder why tf im supposed to be the main hero when theres npcs like them around who put down more zombies and minibosses in seconds than I do in an hour.
Ai that learns or evolves over time is really interesting
@@BreadApologist I've always heard that the AI for the survivors was awful, but I guess I'll need to check out the game again and see for myself.
it's hilarious how easy most of the battles in this game can be when Sheva has the sniper Rifle
no fucking clue why but her Ai will almost always get headshots, which are one-shot kills on the majority of enemies.
so in your next video on this, give her the sniper, she'll be awesome.
I think in some games the AI is designed to only see players or hostiles as a small point in the head, thats why in some games with just covering partialy the head, the AI gets confused
@@crazybunny1134 makes sense especially because Sheva tries to headshot everything but never gets the crit unless using a sniper rifle does not matter if it's bolt action or semi automatic she always gets the crit in 1 or 2 shots usually 1 while you as the player need the whole mag to get a crit on most enemies
Half of the time, I always give her the Sniper Rifle as soon as I get it, since I suck at using it in the RE games anyways. Other times I give her an sub machine gun as a backup. I never give her grenades or mines, once was enough.

@@craigsands2567 I prefer to keep the Grenades myself, I tend to have problems with Sheva either wasting them or committing friendly fire.

thats what i love about him, if you fight an enemy that has a higher level then you (the purple bar's) you'll easily get one shotted by any of their attacks. But then Atreus just tanks literally everything from them if their attention is on him.
You could give her the rocket launcher with infinite ammo in new game plus. It's a bit sketchy but technically within the limitations of the game.
Thats what I was thinking, but then she still couldn't beat the el gigante during the car section. Still though, if that's the only time I'd need to help her out it would be pretty interesting
@@DanteRavioli That is true but I still want to watch this. Don't stop just because the challenge failed. Finishing the game is more interesting even if you had to help her in that instance.
Or maybe the infinite bow? It's quite op but slow to use.

I lost faith in Sheva’s AI using the Bow. She is great with the guns but not the Bow.
I rather use Sheva myself with the Bow than depend on the AI.
Even though both the AI and I miss, I miss less.

As someone who used to speedrun this game. You'd be hella surprised how many despawns you can do by just restarting from checkpoint lol.
Takes me back. I LOVE this game. I have so many good memories from it. My brother and I would play through all difficulties with the goal of acing all chapters. Split screen. So much fun. I really miss that.
Sheva opens barrels more often when she is in attack mode. She will roam the area collecting items
People feel Sheva is a horrible AI because they don't control her they let her react in her own, arm her with a sniper and another powerful weapon know when to have her retreat, stop or attack. When you control her like your suppose to in the game she's actually a great help
Which also means you have to get access to that weapons first. You have to enjoy the suffering until then.

RE5 is one of my favorites, I have everything unlocked also fully upgraded and I still play it from time to time to this day.

Dude I've been playing RE5 for the past week trying to 100% it (currently almost done with pro mode) and I've been thinking about you making more RE5 content lol.

@@murasakino101 unfortunately i had to cheese 3 or 4 parts with infinite rockets due to her A.I. other than that, was a solid, "new game" playthrough. Good challenge for anyone who likes the game, highly recommend.

I cant imagine how much hours you spent just praying for sheva to do things. I always had to go co op because the AI just wasnt for me
In my playthrough, I just give her a shock baton and call it there. As I don't want to waste ammo and I find the AI kinda not helpful from time to time. It would be pretty cool if they added the mode where you can play solo with out the bot.
Give her an upgraded sniper rifle and a shotgun and set her on attack mode.
I mostly my copy never had problems much. I mean inwas good bwck theb with little annoyed on ashely rescue mission and easily so having a parther that can at least depend and help out is a bit helpful to me.
Congratulations, you gave her the one weapon that glitches her AI and actually makes it useless. But hey those bullets are not for shooting enemies, gotta "Not Waste Ammo" meme.

Shock baton is lowkey OP in this game. AI sometimes doesn't know how to use though.

@@Kn1ghtborne A section where you go against Wesker and Jill, Sheva split up so many times instead of dealing with Wesker as a team it's not even funny, also fact that she kept trying to get behind Jill without any cooperation, while Jill kept peppering with bullets, i would rather not have that level, i lost my patience enough to where a rocket launcher was needed, a rocker launcher and even then it failed more than once because game about cooperation doesn't work if A.I's cooperation module fails so badly and painfully, made second part look like what i would call "Eazy peazy lemon squeazy, gg ez, eazy as relasing the piss while pissing, eazy as allowing myself to "relase" while doing right hand business." like that's how eazy it looked in second part, as if A.I suddenly started working for some reason.
@@Kn1ghtborne The AI is LITERALLY programmed to get out of the way when you aim your gun. The AI in this game is better than 99% of players you find online. The problem with the AI is that those 99% of players are the ones making assumptions about it and posting these comments.

I remember going for all gold on all difficulties, and for the second to last stage I decided to pass Sheva the Infinite Rocket Launcher. Boy oh boy, that was the worst idea possible, at one point we had cleared the last enemy from the hanger area and Sheva thought it was a fun idea to try rocket jumping, it didn't work.
When this game came out, a friend and myself wrecked it in one sitting. Sheva bow ftw.

Dante, i’ve watched most of ur vids atleast 10 times each and when i saw how fast you and waifu could speedrun re4 i was pretty amazed cus i literally took about 10-12 hours to complete the game. It was probably a couple hours less since i paused a couple times to watch youtube and calm down a little but still, that’s damn impressive( the small amount of time it took you to complete the game).
Hey Dante, you are one of my inspirations! I was trying to do this same challenge as a way to try yo record something (mostly for myself) to post on RUclips and got stuck in the truck section. I hope I can get better at communicating throught this "exercise" and recover some of the fun with games again. Thank you for this video.

this is my favorite resident evil. spent so many hours in coop on the campaign and mercenaries. I hope they remake this like they're doing with all the remake releases. that would be amazing. I can't wait (crosses fingers)

At least ashely is normal 20girl -equiped with ballistic- with no military training while sheva.......
Atleast Ashley has a knight costume that makes her Invincible and enemies take damage when they try to carry her in that outfit.
The whole point of RE4 is to escort Ashley and she's only with you in the half of the game.Ashley always stays behind you and crouches when ever you aim at her direction.There will be this dumpster that you can tell her to hide in.She only gets captured in the scripted scenes.

Unfortunately, all boss type enemies have to be killed by the player. You just got really lucky with that first chainsaw dude, 'cause I guess explosions bypass that rule. I wonder if you gave her a grenade after she dropped the batilpillar's HP down to 1 if she'd be able to take it out that way.
from the way Sheva acts and my own pain trying to deal with her AI.. as resilient as you are Dante. i'm pretty sure the game forces you to act in several places to progress

Love of Resident Evil/Love of Dante
This challenge could be easier in professional because enemies only focus the player.
Also, the RE5 AI is really good if you know how to use it. Mantain it in cover if you want to conserve ammo, and a real game changer is giving it a SMG/Rifle combo, then the AI uses SMG on weaker enemies at close distance and shoot powerful rifle rounds at long distance or big HP enemies. The AI just aims to the chest, so the Rifle is really the best weapon to give to it. If you give it a Handgun it will use it always when in cover mode. Attack mode make it more agressive and use all weapons freely depending on the situation. Also, don't spam cover or attack commands, that just resets the "priorities" and the AI routine, so it will stand still.
Healing is the only thing that you can't control directly. The AI uses the most powerful healing item when you have less than 33% HP. And logically it does not have means to anticipate a red herbs or a possible combination, that's a limitation that have sense, because if the AI "knows" the healing items that will come in advance, it will give an advantage. Last point, this aproach to healing is better in veteran and professional difficulties, because you die in 2-3 hits (1 on professional), so saving healing items is not really much difference because full HP or even half HP is the same when you will die with one more hit anyways. The real objective is staying out of orange HP.
I learned all of this thanks to the official manual/guidebook and just experience S ranking all missions of the game in all difficulties, and when you learn how to use the AI, RE5 is really an enjoyable game on higher difficulties and you will see that's very well balanced towards having a partner.
