In this video I demo the potential of Boucheron on base game no DLC/stat boosters being used as one of my early game hard carries.
Boucheron has high BLD/SPD and can handle heavy axes easily but has lower STR/STR growth making him a unique build archetype.

@@davidescobartorrero1435 What's the point of bringing that up? Boucheron can still do it regardless, and now you're free to use a highly contested ring on someone else. Boucheron also makes really good use of the Roy's engrave.

For me, he has a very unique profile of being an Axe unit with high speed and dex who takes hardly any speed penalty that axes usually have because theyre so heavy
You can fix damage issues with Axe Power and other things like Eirika or Momentum and his high speed
Boucheron is basically a Saphir that needs to be trained. Wouldnt say S-Tier but he is slept on.

@Stacona They're pretty similar in terms of performance, with Saphir being more of a filler unit and coming with near equivalent stats to an equal Boucheron. Boucheron has a +15% lead on speed over Saphir which over 15 levels will mean he has +3-4 speed over her at IL 40 but -4 strength compared to her as well.
Wouldn't say Boucheron is cracked and also wouldn't say Saphir sucks. They're both just serviceable units.
“that needs to be trained” I prefer “that can be used early game”.
His availability makes him better in the grand scheme of things because you’re guaranteed to get use out of him when you only have 6-9 units compared to Saphir, who is only good if don’t have 12 better units to field already. Not that it really matters.
What I like about this video is that it's not ironic. Even if he isn't S Tier in comparison he is an absolute solid and fun and imo very likeable character. Bouchin time makes me smile anytime so thx for making him a main character in your current stream series. One day people will open their eyes and see what really matters in life: It's never too late for Bouchin time 😂🎉
This is my first run with him and when I tell you I am absolutely in love. I pushed him through as a berserk her for 20 levels so we actually got some decent strength level ups. After that I moved him to warrior to not only look hot with those ABS exposed but to also raises Dex cap. I'm sure he would perform just as well as a wyvern or even a hero. I've been running him with Ike and the well Axe has a crit build.

Funnily enough this is the exact build I have him as in my current run, except I'm using Edelgard after having him as Berserker for a bit to boost his Strength before Wyvern. He has Spd +3 and Speedtaker so he doubles reliably too.
You could argue that he has DLC which makes anyone a carry, and while I won't argue that, he still was a solid Frontline fighter early game and he's only gotten the bracelet compared to some of my other units who have gotten the SP books.
Funny enough you made this video,, because on my 4th maddening run and I've just now realized that Arms Shield+ on an Axe units is insane.
The Bouch and Jade can literally Leroy Jenkins in Spears and Swords and take little to no damage even getting doubled.

I ran him on one maddening playthrough and he honestly turned out pretty decent. His start definitely feels rough because he just isn’t reliable due to the lower Hit on axes, and his low Str growth feels pretty bad even if 40% on Wyvern is reasonable enough.
Having a high Dex means he actually starts to be pretty reliable with hit rates even on axes, and any unit with the potential to double with a Tomahawk is pretty great, especially since low offenses can be patched by the Weapon Power meta these days. If you give him an emblem like Sigurd, he can even use Brave Axe/Tomahawk and not be weighed down by around level 18 promoted, and can use +Wt engraves after even more level ups. Byleth is a great one for +30 Hit, 10 Crit, 10 Avo at the cost of 2 Wt (if you want to meme though, he could use Roy’s +2 Mt, 8 Wt engrave on A forged Noatun without being weighed down too lol)
Also, he’s a *beast* with the Revanche axe, especially with Byleth engrave, though it costs way too much to get to +5
The early hit issues can be mitigated with the Marth engraving (works great on Hand Axe) and/or Hit+ from Sigurd.
Once he gets Tomahawk with Lucina engraving he really starts popping off.

YES. FINALLY. Recognition for my main man sexy himbo Boucheron!! He was consistently doubles with a Brave Axe and Hammer from midgame. Yes, he take awhile to get going, but he's a solid unit overall. Plus, until/ if you promote Diamant he's your only good axe user for awhile (we don't do Lance/ Axe Wyvern on Chloe here). Ugh, yes this is just what I needed lol
FUCKEN FINALLY SOME REALIZES THE GLORY OF BOUCHERON
Boucheron, my underrated beloved. My favorite things about him gameplay wise is his early join time, backup support, hp growth, and his personal.
The more backup units you get, the more opportunity his personal kicks in. Hell with the Chrobin Bracelet, he can activate it himself sometimes.
With the DLC I gave him a Tomahawk +5 off the bat and he was doubling almost everything a few chapters later. He gets 16 BLD fairly early.
Im 3/4 through a backup only run and boucheron has actually been a huge asset. His ability to quad with brave axes and double with tomohawks is unmatched

Boucheron Beserker with nearly 100HP just tanked so many units it was crazy 🤙🤙🤙
He's been my hard carry on my current maddening run since the start. Had him on Edelgard the whole time. As warrior. With Starsphere. He absolutely slaps. Primarily just using the FoH axe which is plenty good enough.
Really like his growths as Berserker for that 50% str, too bad about the low dex cap.
I'm running Warrior Bouch on my current run, but now i will definitely be considering Wyvern Bouch for a future run
Pretty much everyone is usable and good with the right build, this game really is amazing

Boucheron's english voice actor is in Tears of the Kingdom as well, you should be able to hear his voice when you meet the character in Zelda.
ITS BOUCHIN TIME
In my army I have him as a secondary bow user, a Warrior, and just being a back row support back up that sometimes come up to smack, he is more valuable than most.
From Day 1, I knew I wanted to use Boucheron when I started looking into this game (had a friend play it for me and my group so we wouldn't be hit with buyer's remorse). When I got my hands on Engage and started investing in Boucheron, his unique build makes him a fun unit where I end up using heavier, higher might weapons and forges to make up for any Strength deficits, while also doubling with high Speed and Build to make up for any damage that he'd otherwise be missing out on. Overall a fun unit to make work, and one of the more grounded characters if you ask me.
Try Halberdier Boucheron with Marth. Divine Speed and Break Defenses (and Moved to Tears) on a Brave Weapon hits some obnoxious numbers.
That's what I've been saying, don't even need to be wyvern, warrior is enough. I personally never even realised he has 20 str growth till late game where i began to wonder why I'm not getting much strenght anymore but he'll get the build and speed to weild 30 mt axes and use long bows with no penalty. He won't one shot as much but he'll dish out major damage and don't sleep on his hp it becomes massive.
Brave Axe Boucheron with Eirika SHREDS enemies. Very very few enemies will be able to survive a round with him.

Eirika is so much better on other units though, with little to no investment nearly any unit with arts and Eirika shreds.
It’s just again an example of people saying a unit is good, when it’s actually the emblems that make them so good.
He should do good damage outside of Eirika
@@Matteo_nr1_evermore_stan Which units make better use of Eirika? Bouch Eirika has two significant advantages over giving it to an arts user. The first is the option to flex to 1-2 range with Tomahawk. The second is most Bouch classes will have a decent durability advantage over an arts weilder because of Boucherons huge HP and decent defences. He's very tanky with Gentility. Boucheron Eirika is also not a very high investment build. He really just needs Eirika and a weapon no one else wants to use because they don't have the build for it.
@buddyjesus10 Agreed. The two best Martial Master Eirika users are Framme and Chloe. Chloe is usually better as a flier and Framme will be either slower or equal to a Wyvern Boucheron.
I do think Boucheron would be a better fit for someone like Roy due to patching strength and pairing him with Axe Power. The only reason I would give Eirika to a arts user over another Brave user is because Axe users have other ways to ORKO. Arts users basically need Eirika to ORKO.
I gave him Ike and an engraved killer axe on my Hard/Classic run. He would survive everything and counter with one-hit kills a lot of the time. I found myself reaching for him over Louis in some instances where I needed some enemy phase shenanigans, because the large HP pool and halved damage made him better against mixed damage attackers. But then, I dunno if that's Boucheron being good, or just Ike being good.
IT'S BOUCHIN TIME
Boucheron is the best Marth user in the earlygame. Marth synergises with high single hit damage, and Bouche is the king for this. With divine speed/break defenses, he just pne rounds most enemies. His high strength and backup class mean he will also do a lot of damage with lodestar rush, making him one of the best boss killers
With Mercurius, he will get more xp than most units and get good stats fast. I like to promote him to warrior in ch11/12 and give him Ike. That way he's both a flier killer and a tank. At IL24 during ch18 with spd+4, he actually doubles wyvern knights !
Crazy good unit, definitely one of the best pre-ch10 recruits

The low dex cap is annoying but give him a tomahawk and combine it with a solid build for his ring, engraving and skills, he can still double crit with that tomahawk
how do you set up the big override on ch 5? do you have to warp ragnarok in, destroy the wall, then warp out?
You break the wall, aggro the first group, put ice tile in front of armor as they start to line up and stay out of range

Paladin Bouch is certainly an interesting choice. Have you tried GK? How would you say it compares?
@@shannonjones8877 i have not but i had him as a berserker at first for str level ups and then switched him once he had the max build for paladin and speed and dex. I made alear a great knight tho and they always have the class skill and their passive active if i set stuff up right.
but gk is kinda slow and he already has ike on so its not like he kinda needs the bulk since his hp and speed is naturally high as well as the ike skills but maybe i’ll try gk next run on him im havjng fun with it on alear

[B]OUCHIN TIME
Without starsphere, Boucheron is the only unit that can double with the heaviest of axes like brave axe & tomahawk because of his build growth. Heck you can use Ike engraving and he won't miss that much of speed anyway. His passive is also good if you build your units around backup. Each chain attack give you +2 unmitigated damage per hit. It combo nicely with brave axe.
Passive is just if Boucheron attacks and someone chain attacks with him, then he gets +2 damage per his own hits and no more, aka an additional +2 might. This damage is modified by crits as well.
@@MasterStacona nah it's better than +2 mt because it's true dmg. This was great when you first start running into Wyrms because you just position Goldmary in range and Bouch next to Alear and that's guaranteed 5x2 dmg.
Boucheron has the highest BLD growths in the game if I remember at 20%, put into berserker or general and that is raised to 30% Bld growth. May not be high compared to other growths numbers but for Build? That's pretty damn high. Raised up to 45% with starsphere in the after mentioned classes

His main issue is trouble getting XP.
Sigurd does tend to let people overstate how large the gap between Bouch/Alfred and Chloe/Louis is, but the fact the gap exists at all creates the feedback loop that makes it larger.
Early units have much more polarized quality due to this.

I decided to use Boucheron in my iron man hard difficulty run and he's legit my best unit holy shit I just see him one shot everything and wonder why people call him bencheron

Not taking anything away from bouch but in terms of this specific role Jean has him beat. Kagetsu ofc outclasses everyone who uses a physical weapon. I have a save file feeding Boucheron kills and he is really good just needs to stay in berserker to fix his strength and after that idk hero warrior or wyvern all seem workable to me. I wouldn’t say S tier but he does seem like an A tier since all he is lacking is the strength growth.

doing a maddening right now where I'm playing him with Sigurd ring which helps vs sword ennemies (deploying Alear Chloé Céline Framme Boucheron atm and trying to feed kills to Alear, Bouch and Céline), will prob make him a Warrior when I get Leif then give him axe power and brave axe for his passive
problems early are his accuracy I found + the heroes axe has less accuracy than iron axe

I gave Alfred Marth's ring after Alear maxed him out. I think Marth works well for slow characters who wouldn't otherwise be able to double. His main emblem after arriving in Solm has been Lyn, though he also does very well with Ike or Leif imo. There are other options for emblems he can use but imo those 3 are his best.
His weapons didn't matter too much in the beginning, but since midgame his main weapon has been a Byleth engraved Killer Lance. He also pulls out an Eirika engraved Ridersbane when necessary.
Other than that he just has Pair Up since he's my main tank.

Boucheron was better as a griffin knight than wyvern, though everyone is good on wyvern because it is overpowered.
Axe Griffin Knight has a build cap of 14, only tomahawk is heavier than this, but its speed growth will allow him to always double so now you can focus on STR and MIGHT fixing.
He was a carry with the well axe and a crit engraving for that extra crit rate, did not even use axe power on him. With axe power he would pop off insanely hard and brave axe would then be better because with his passive and axe power, he will have +12 additional might per hit, and since he would quad as a griffin, unless the enemy is also insanely fast, that would be an additional 48 damage he would do as a griffin knight.
He is also good as a warrior, decent as a berserker (i would not do berserker), anyone is good as a wyvern knight, he probably be good as an axe wolf knight; he really just wants to be anything that is fast and can use axes.
Ive always thought that axe's name was a pun that sounds like "know-a-ton" for the nerds that like to deep dive on stats.

Ngl I reclassing boucheron to hero class just makes him a versatile unit. Giving him a lot of weapon options just makes him too good in my runs.
Boucheron:
His passive is much better than Chloe's passive (without setup and Lucina ring NOT on him, he has a 70% chance for +2 might after Lucina's paralogue)
High base STR
Very high DEX growth (Very good for axes which are known to be inaccurate)
High Speed growth
Best HP growth
Best Build growth (With speed and build, he is technically the fastest unit in the game)
This means, he can not only wield the heaviest of axes without a speed penalty or barely a speed penalty (if he is build capping on that class), but can also double on them which is the highest might weapons in the game.
Well Axe is S tier on Boucheron, even better with Chrom ring which was made for him (he is not ring picky, just don't give him magic rings or Lucina ring)
Brave Axe and Tomahawk are also very good, Brave axe goes with his passive and Tomahawk is for range.
F tier is Hurricane Axe and I should not have to explain why it is terrible for Boucheron.
And the best thing about his passive is that the chain attack doesn't even have to land.
And yeah i also agree that he works well with most emblems.
Sigurd not the best for him as sigurd gives momentum which works best for low speed hard hitters that only attack once and it is less effective for fast units. Granted, Sigurd is still good for anyone and is a very safe ring option to use.
Simply give him Hit +10 and bam you win

I have been LTCing the game. Boucheron is botton 3. The only thing he has over Anna is availability. And honestly in a casual playthrough he might be worse than Anna.
If you think he is strong early, you are not using Vander nearly as much as you should.

Because everything you have show in this Video is Sigurd carrying Boucheron and nothing that Boucheron does himself.

I'm still using Vander after chapter 20 and i still think Boucheron is awesome.

@@IcedCoffeeGaming if you have higher str you don't need to quad with brave axe to kill. He is one of the few A rank wyvern users, take away brave axe and he is outclassed by so many other wyverns.

@@IcedCoffeeGaming Well yea Boucheron would end up Fighting for a good Emblem ring, and fight for resources to refine his weapons and possibly stat boosters. Those things all belong to Goldmary and Timerra
@@SaunaQueen69 honestly in my experience, Bouch hasn't needed any statboosters on my playthrough. He also works well with most rings so he can easily just use whatever they weren't using atm.
My favorite moment in the game was then he said, "it was Bouchen time" and procided to Bouch all over the place.😂

57 HP, 21 STR, 15 BLD, 25 SPD
30 Times
67 HP, 25 STR, 17.5 BLD, 30 SPD.
My average unit that hard carries levels up 10 times around middlegame entry, 20 times during middle game, and 30 times throughout end game.

Boucheron can unique use very heavy weapons allowing him to use AXES unlike Rosado and double consistently. Rosado isn't a bad unit on Lances/Swords either. He has decent bases outside of his STR.
I don't understand this comparison. The question is whether Bouch is good, and the comparison is being made to Rosado to prove that point, but literally every relevant stat you've listed is higher on Bouch, so how is he not _at least_ good?
@@shannonjones8877 same str, lower spd, only has more AS when using weapons heavier than 10 weight (The free FEH Axe weights 10 or less with forging)
I'm not making a unit a hard carry that looks like Rosado 2.0 with slightly more bulk and losing 2 spd for 4 Bld.
edit, also Rosado has 45% personal str growth vs Boucheron's 20%, they got the same 45% spd growth.
Boucheron has +15% more Bld to increase his Bld lead, so eeeh, more fun with heavier weapons I guess?
@@tricky2795 yeah ok that's only 1 axe, and it assumes having access to the FEH weapons in the first place. But what about every other weapon? 2-range options? Type-slaying options? Bouch has access to higher mt options that won't weigh him down, meaning he can more easily double (and at least be at less risk of getting doubled) with weapons that close the gap in atk anyway.
@@shannonjones8877 1-2 range melee weapons kinda suck in Engage. The only type slaying weapon that is good is the ridersbane, you either need high atk to OHKO or have enough spd to double, Boucheron isn't doubling cavs without a lot of help and his str is gonna be worse than Rosado over time, who is already known for having low str for his lvl.
I guess if both Rosado and Boucheron are using a silver weapon, Boucheron is Rosado 2.0 that loses 2 less AS only with those heavier weapons and slower with any light weapons.
I'm comparing Boucheron to Rosado here, what if we compare him to super mid tier units like Lapis?
