I just bought a Datejust but I agree with you. I’m going to save money every month to get the same model. The epitome of class and style, absolutely stunning and timeless style….
congrats on the day-date! i figure that i too would wait till at least my 40s to get one. on a separate note, it is quite sad that we now have to worry about what watches we can wear out in cities 😞
The price delta on a 36 vs a daydate 40 is one jumbo spread. That being said, looks as though 40 MM daydates that were 53K (black-Denzel face Motif) and now are closer to 42K.
Grow some grey hairs, and yes! Totally agree on that, when I was 20, 30. An outdoor watch is cool and fun enough for me, now I’m hitting 43. It’s a time to think about day-date!
Great video…been wearing a 18238 since 2005 (when I was 31) and also have a 228206 9DD 40 plat) the DD is just soooo good. I have a bunch of others but I LOVE the DD’s.
The weight is quite OK, a little bit heavier than some of the steel models I have but not as heavy as my gold Speedmaster. That one you’ll keep noticing during the day.
@@robert-janbroer8936 Thanks - another question - if you could have got one brand new from an AD, without waiting too long, rather than your vintage piece - would you have done that? And why?

I had a gold Submariner (with Tiffany stamp, no less) 35 years ago, when I was 25. Gold Rolexes are beautiful, but very flashy. You have to decide if that's the impression you want to make. Brilliant, just spotted a couple of greys! The hunt begins! Excellent review and advice, but would expect nothing less. I agree, gold/champagne for the 36, but with white metal, perhaps 40mm...

I'd like to answer your question. Whether you wait to buy a rolex till you are older would depend on when you have reached that stage in life that you have become financially secure with an abundance of wealth. That is the milestone that you treat yourself to expensive watches. Age has nothing to do with it. A Rolex simply indicates that you have arrived, it is a status symbol. Do not spend your last dollar to buy a Rolex.

I have a white gold one, which I find more wearable than yellow or rose gold. Completely agree that the single quick set (which I have) is annoying!
