Ok so, I dont think I've ever even seen a Rolex in person. Having said that I'd like to buy one for my son, and I'm talking for when he graduates college or something. Something to be held long term and passed down. Like an heirloom. But I've been hearing that you almost cant even get in the door to buy one unless you've already spent thousands building up a history with a dealer. Is this true? Ideally I want the sea dweller 126603. Brand new, in the box, unworn, with papers. So straight from the factory to the AD to me. How likely am I to get one. Keep in mind, I dont mind waiting. I'd need likely a couple years to come up with the roughly 18K price tag I saw.
I got one a few days ago. Walked in the dealer, asked for one and they happened to have on on stock which was probably pure luck. This bla bla about building relations with dealers and waiting lists etc is just bla in my opinion. Waiting lists do not exist they are just there to keep you coming back. Dealers are not allowed to advertise what they have in stock and have to sell retail over the counter. So if you are looking for a watch, walk in and ask for any stainless sports watch they will most likely not sell you one as they think you are a watch flipper. The reason I bought one is pretty similar to yours, I got some money from my parents, didn't want to just put it in the bank but wanted to buy something something of value. 20 years ago when I graduated I got a watch as a present from them, that I still wear to today. The Seadweller I bought will probably go down to my kids later as well. One thing to note is that a seadweller is quite big, not only the size of the bezel but also the thickness due to it being a diving watc. It wears heavy on the wrist. I have 8 inch wrist circumference so can take the size but if you are buying something for your son later in the future it's a bit of a gamble size wise. The 18K you are referring to is the price on the gray market, from a dealer you are talking just over 12K.
Thankyou for the information unfortunately every authorized retailer i have contacted says that their existing customers are already on wait for past atleast 2 years. Lost hope of getting one
Richard, if your son is 3 years old then I'd say you have an excellent chance of getting him the watch for his college graduation as it will probably take that long to get one from an AD.
I almost pulled the trigger on an AirKing at my local AD 2 years ago but it was just too big on my small wrist. Kinda regret it now as they went up from $6,200 to $9,000 on the grey market. The second they come out with a 36mm though I’m running back to grab one.
Perhaps a silly question but do owners ever worry about being mugged in the street. I live in central london. Do you ever feel anxious knowing your multi thousand pound/dollar watch is on show and so easily robbed? Just wondering
Somebody I know nearly got mugged on NYC Subway for it. But he was wearing short sleeves to work that day. Don't show it off in public Also, a multi thousand dollar watch would only be worn at special occasions
@@aquarius4953 That's not what I said at all. I'm saying don't be a walking advertisement for people to mug you. Wear it out at work or events, not openly when you're shopping in the supermarket
1 thing I can't get my head around. If I want an item but can't get hold of one due to supply there is NO CHANCE I am paying the same price second hand let alone more! Just get a different model. I think the only people who pay more than RRP are people with WAY TOO MUCH money...if you have too much money and want to spend it on nonsense, I can give you my details and you can just send me money whenever you want.
1966, nam, i was issued a army wrist watch and a rifle. Watches became hard to get. Gave mine to a friend that had a long tour left. I see e-bay prices are very high, i cant imaging a grunt ever selling his, the greedy, grieving, families must put it on line.
People who buy Rolex watches just want other people to notice them. They must be so lonely.....It is sad but true.... The ROLEX BRAND knows this very well....
Rolex the most overhyped brand there is. Exclusive???? They produce 1000000 pieces a year. Grand Seiko and Zenith produce 35000 pieces a year. Both are technical better and are better time keepers. But most of the people are living in LALA land. They pay over 10K-12K for a sport watch, that cost 2K to produce. The rest of the money is spend on marketing and the overhyped AD stores. Rolex dump the watches self on the grey market. I sold my Sub years ago and i'm glad with my Zenith and two Grand Seiko's.
Okay? Can yo uh tell me what makes a Rolex a watch worth loosing body parts? Have you looked at what other well known brands offer? If you really want a super nice watch that won't break the bank. Then walk away from the over priced Rolex and get a Omega, Breitling, Zenith, heck many outstanding brands that offer way more watch for far less funds.

@@BertM3 thanks for the info. I'm gonna look into it at a local AD
I must have a Presidential before I leave this earth
Thank ü Bob's! 🌹🐾🐯📿🌺🌸🌊
When my net worth exceeds 1million I am going to reward myself with a $10k Rolex.
My Net worth is sitting at about -$200,000 and I still love collecting Rolex (:

I almost pulled the trigger on an AirKing at my local AD 2 years ago but it was just too big on my small wrist. Kinda regret it now as they went up from $6,200 to $9,000 on the grey market. The second they come out with a 36mm though I’m running back to grab one.
Hey Jonas, that is a bummer, but you defintely want to perfect watch for yourself. It will be worth the wait!
Perhaps a silly question but do owners ever worry about being mugged in the street. I live in central london. Do you ever feel anxious knowing your multi thousand pound/dollar watch is on show and so easily robbed? Just wondering
I don't wear mine without wearing my p365 9mm. But I'm in the states. I suggest OC spray and asp baton.
Somebody I know nearly got mugged on NYC Subway for it. But he was wearing short sleeves to work that day. Don't show it off in public
Also, a multi thousand dollar watch would only be worn at special occasions
@@Nootlest Yes, buy it, put it inside a drawer and forget it.
@@aquarius4953 That's not what I said at all. I'm saying don't be a walking advertisement for people to mug you. Wear it out at work or events, not openly when you're shopping in the supermarket
Never even crosses my mind
After watching this video, I will be buying my first Rolex from you guys!
Did you ever buy from Bob's Watches?
Why am i here i am broke af
1 thing I can't get my head around. If I want an item but can't get hold of one due to supply there is NO CHANCE I am paying the same price second hand let alone more! Just get a different model. I think the only people who pay more than RRP are people with WAY TOO MUCH money...if you have too much money and want to spend it on nonsense, I can give you my details and you can just send me money whenever you want.
I bought my 1st Rolex off some dude named Leo down Michigan Ave. Its prolly legit, LOL
First thing to do: find an AD to go down on
Or you can win the Rolex 24.
I’m good waiting. I find the ridiculous suck up videos are seriously the people who are spoiling the market.

I want 40$ tennis shoes and a rolex
Who tf would dive with a Rolex 😂
Buying from an AD ?? Rolex , all shops are empty, listing 7 years full
How to buy any other watch brand:
“Hey, can I buy this?” “Sure! Let me ring you up!”
I can’t afford one but I would cut one of my pinky’s off or maybe a middle finger for a datejust or a submarine.
@@Patriot-rising I guess you haven’t checked the prices on all the other brands you mentioned, oh if you don’t know what a figure of speech is then I don’t know what to tell you buddy.
