- I know yesterday’s video was a source of confusion so hopefully this video can clarify. There are traditional, conventional or operational leases, and then there are Capital or Lease to Own leases. There are also Lease To Purchase programs with carriers. Let’s take a look at all of them.

You are so educational. I really appreciate the information you always give.
Her intelligence is so attractive off the chart
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. This is an eye opener. More Blessings to you and to your family. More power
Miranda,
Awesome information! Thanks!
Much appreciated!
Love the video and the new look
You should be a Model Miranda. Thanks for the Info
I wish more people could see this video cause a lot of companies are taking advantage of drivers but there are a few companies that do it rite but they are small and honest people but like always thanks for the video and I hope it helps someone make a better decision, especially in this market
Great job. Thank you for your assistance. You are such a insightful and educated person with a lot of practical knowledge that is needed out here. It would be nice to have you as a consultant.
❤ keep it up ! Looking beautiful as always 😊
Miranda, Miranda , Miranda 🤩 Gracias a Dios🙌🏼. Great info honestly.
Can you please do videos about your calculators like the lease purchase calculator and how to use that?
You move quick 😆! Great work, thanks for clearing things up! 🙏🏼
Been there, done that with lease purchase programs in the past... Got in financial trouble with that with the IRS, and they will tell you to not ever get involved with those programs again because they see truck drivers get into tax trouble on a regular basis... Learned that lesson long time ago...
Can you not write off the lease price?
Can you not write off the lease price?
I so love this woman
Yes, I just finished a lease purchase! I can say it was so stressful! I'm running now with no truck payment but other deductions are still the same. I use company accounts with vendors, i.e. t/s, dealers, national accounts. The bill my maintenance account, adding a fee. My truck is a '15 Cascadia it has a million miles plus, so, not salable! Your video should keep younger guys from making my mistake you are awesome, marry me and take me away from this madness!
This was a huge help. I'm supposed to do this with western express. I have ton of questions for them now. You rock Miranda! Thank you
dont do it.
@@haroldrodriguez5952 have you had experience with them?
Just made a lease purchase calculator you can use for free: www.calconic.com/calculator-widgets/lease-purchase-calculator/632c942bb6ab9e002ab6104e?layouts=true
Dude read my response to Amanda’s video. Western express is one of the major companies NOT to do this with. They simply work the system. Get some experience since am guessing you went through training with them. 6 months find a real truck driving job. You’ll make equivalent or more as a company driver somewhere else than you will as an owner operator with western. They pay poor after you finish their school. Then promise you a regular company drivers (driver at a good company) pay and it looks reasonable to you only because they have kept your point of reference so poor to begin with. It’s their system. You will shoulder the expenses of running they truck. They will keep a lion share of the profits. It’s a con. But it’s part of the structure of the company itself.
@@STONEDECISION I have over 20 years comercial driving experience everything from box trucks, school bus, flatbed. Doubles, 53 ft trailers. I'm currently doing Rv transport and it's slow. I'd jump to hotshot but I only have a 2500 Ram
My favorite class !
Lol
2054.40- 1053.97 = $1000.43/week ... Another fantastic video...
Gross: $5400
Fuel: -$2054.40
Truck, Trailer, Escrow: -$1053.97
Total Net: $2292.03
And then comes the maintenance, insurance, taxes, permits, etc. Our one day expense on maintenance on one reefer last month was over $2700. One unexpected expense, and kaput. Its just said that O/Os are being tricked into this isn't it? :(
@@TruckingMadeSuccessful thank you for clarifying Miranda. Every video is a gem, thank you!
so helpful
I’ve never seen a lease purchase that was for the driver, there might be one out there but never seen one
I’m hypnotized
Miranda, can you explain on video
how I can renew my truck license plate? On federal motor carrier safety administrations.
Still not accurate.
Some lease companies like SFI allow you to take the truck with you to another company but they require a couple of payments in advance since they won't be deducting from your settlement.
Also, all leases are expenses for tax purposes because there is no buyout option until that last payment is completed.
That's how both of the accountants I've used since 2008 have done it, and that's the right way to do it.
You can only depreciate the equipment if you actually own it. There are forms to submit deductions for equipment purchases.
The rule about titling varies by state.
Another great and clear video, I can't reach you on your website regarding the dispatch course
Oh no, so sorry to hear that. Email me at talkabouttrucking@gmail.com
Any suggestions to what companies are worth trying by there Lease term in your opinion???
I was hoping for someone like you with the brains to calculate all this was gonna have a channel & help us out....
Well said!
Anyone in the trucking industry, either driver, owner operator, dispatch, etc is helping to move the stuff around what is needed but the issue is what if someone doesn't like the present set up as you explained. Means, sometimes people have their own attitudes like the driver may be looking for: it is to lease a truck, not by fixed monthly installments but by paying % out of take home earning. It is very simple and easy but no one tried this way. In other words, if someone makes 4,000 in a week by driving local pick ups that mean 16,000 in a month then you take 25% for equipment (which is truck and trailer in this case) mean you have 4,000 for your truck and trailer payment. In this way the driver has no stress because he is paying 25% from take home and if the truck or trailer broke down then no payment as he has no take home. Or may have a couple of weeks off that means payment relief or no payment for off days or sick time. So, if someone books more money then he may get a very nice and new truck. So, someone has all kinds of freedom while dealers or leasors will make the money they need.
Given the shortage of drivers in USA, leasing a new truck and giving it to the excellent driver might be a better option. You have to do DCF analysis by factoring in this thing....
nova is one of those shady carriers that take advantage of drivers that want to be owners a former co-worker got shafted by them. looking perfect
I've seen so many people get screwed on lease purchase programs. When I first started driving I worked as a company driver at a big company that also did lease purchases. I compared my pay to LPs and always made an average of $400 more than them a week. If they pay the truck off in 7 years the truck will be worth about 60k after miles and warranty expired...thats in a good market. $400 a week x 7 years= $145,600. I could buy a brand new truck and they would have an old high mileage truck. The math doesn't add up. The only way I would do a LP is if I was homeless and needed a place to stay while stacking cash on the road....to buy my own truck. If you are wondering why I always made an average of $400 more a week is because they give the company drivers the best loads and I was getting raises and they didn't. They had downtime with negative settlements and i didnt. The plus to being a lease purchase is that you can start an LLC and get funding for your own truck after 2 years of tax records of 100k plus gross. I would also only do a LP from a 3rd party like Excelerate leasing just so I can put the truck on with any carrier i want.
Do you recommend any financing companies or lease to own for a 35 ton RGN? Thank you.
I'm thinking about making the switch to owner-operator I have the cash for financing but I'm a little nervous to make that jump would you suggest that I should take on at lease where I can get hands-on experience such as load boards and what not with out going broke trying to figure it and if so where should I look for a decent company that would off me something like that
Que hermosa mujer
Are there companies that have lease purchase programs that aren’t scams? Wouldn’t a person be in the same position as far as expenses if they were to purchase their own truck from a dealer? Or, do they make more of a percentage being owner operator in their own truck?
You are absolutely gorgeous. I know you probably hear that a lot but facts or facts.
I own my own truck can you explain balance sheets I've been Trucking since 89 but always has a company driver I just got my own authority and bought my truck out right cash I might be leasing your trailer if I can't do power only

How worth it to buy used truck than lease purchases?
I did a lease purchase in 2018 and I finished in 2021 and I had no buy out
If i have liability and cargo insurance
And i rent a van out, will that cover the rental and if so do i put the ca dot and ms on the rental? Or ?
Liability and cargo doesn't cover equipment.
Miranda 👋 How much is a termination fee ? For conventional rental ?
It carries from dealer to dealer
Can you make a video on how companies are scamming O/O by not providing rate confirmations and giving only text with rate conf probably taking from the top. They refuse to give rlofficial rate conf. Also who can we report this?
work for another company
Read your laws for leasing 49CFR 379.3. THEY R OBLIGATED. the issue is who can enforce it. FBI, DOT?
Basically no balloon payment
Miranda is too beautiful and sweet so I can't pay attention to the information!!
She is not single. Also I call first dibs when she becomes available. Thanks
I used a lease purchase though a leasing company.....though a carrier is not good
❤
Cóż, to prawda dopóki Truck się nie psuje i umiesz go naprawić jakoś to idzie… jak tylko coś się zacznie to po tobie… Dzięki za uświadomienie niektórych napaleńców.
I used a lease purchase company.
Hawtiee ❤
I did lease under a company they suck my blood i cant take it anymore they take advantage of u at all points from diesel to loads to percentage plus all those hidden fees that comes up now and then .. so best thing to do is just get ur shit threw a dealer
Unrelated question to the Video, what are the reasons why shippers can’t call carriers in general? I know some carriers work with shippers directly but it’s not the norm.
Usually its because getting direct shippers involves more work than just logging into a loadboard and buying from brokers. You would need to cold call shippers :)
@@suzanneelmore770 thank you for the awesome explanation

@@bmizzle1074 Yes, the carrier course can be found here: miranda-c-s-school.teachable.com/p/trucking-made-successful-carrier-course-starting-and-managing-a-trucking-company
@@TruckingMadeSuccessful does it have anything to do with Dispatching or Loadfinding as well? I'm not clear on what you offer for the $170. Thanks ~
The carrier course has nothing to do with dispatch or finding loads. It's all about to how open a trucking company and remain compliant with the FMCSA
LPs are definitely scams! I learned this lesson the hard way. Anybody reading this thinking about becoming and O/O please save your money, work on your credit and GET YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT! Thank me later!😉 oh yeah, Ooooweee!😍
So how is the leases going to work in California? Your state from the news i seen is not going to sell anymore diesel anyway. So are you going electric? Or are you going to do what thousands of other truckers are doing relocating to a non communist state?
What can I say, CA is forever known as CommieFornia. We will probably be moving our business out eventually.
😂😂😂 I do understand that you are a company owner and you don’t really want to have lease to purchase or lease operators but it’s not exactly the true and everything you will be saying it’s just because you need to have a company driver why you on service jump to the reffer what about dry van and why 1.80$ sometimes there’s 3-4 RPM and EVEN 10-15$ a mile at least used to was 😂 p.s. SORRY
I have ask you to clarify...are you saying there are companies paying LP drivers $3-$4 per mile...? If so, please tell me where I CAN SIGN UP LOL!
I think you need more in-depth knowledge of the system you are talking about to properly explain it. What you explain is why someone can in fact skate by in a lease purchase program. But what explained is not what happens. It’s more sinister. These are systems designed to fail for the owner operators. Where the expenses of the carrier gets shifted to the drivers. Yet the the profit margins remain with carrier. Sometimes the are upfront about what they are paying is slave labor. Still keeping the profit side of the margins for them selves. Sometimes they promise to pay 80 percent and since there is really no way to check them, only pays about 60 percent. Most the times what you get to take home is equal to or less than company driver on good weeks. But you still have to bear the expenses of bad weeks, breakdown’s, time off, crappy dispatching bad weather etc. But the profit margins always remain with carrier. All this is calculated and done intentionally. That’s why we call lease owner operators glorified company drivers. That’s why the California law was so on point. It forces DRIVERS to become real INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS. NOT GLORIFIED COMPANY DRIVERS. If they are truly independent the can make real choices for themselves. Not the carriers feeding sh*t about the choices the carriers made for them. I enjoyed your videos, but two years in this business coming in the way you did as a carrier don’t really give you the right insights to speak on this subject. This is a problem brewing 20-30 years in the making.
I appreciate your comment and insight. Please keep in mind that I try to make my videos concise as this topic in depth could take up hours to discuss. I cannot possibly put in every detail but the goal is to give a general overview. I would not be so passionately against this lease to purchase ordeal if I wasn’t familiar with the subject.
I love you darling
