Dude! The Corvette is hands down America’s car. Every detail about the Corvette is America; from its history on how it was founded and throughout its progression in design and technology, to the amazing machine we have today. The world of motor sports reveres the Corvette.
Until they went mid engine and started using an engine designed by Ferrari.
@@mosquitofleetfishing6599America and it's foreign reliance persistent in their automotive industry.
Manual is unavailable. That was American.
What do you mean. They literally bought 3 Ferraris and copied them. They bought the engine out of a crashed 458 Speciale and straight-up copied it. So now its a flat-plane crank, high revving V8 just like Ferrari.
@@captain_context9991 Just the red ones are Ferrari's. 🤦♂
Exactly, who cares about lap times when the cars arent even on the road. The C7 Z06 is a dream car because of how raw and a little scary it is.
Absolutely. 👍🏻 I love the C8, but I’d love to have an old school 6 speed C7 Z06 or ZR1 just bc of how raw they are. I don’t want paddle shift I want that raw driving experience from a Vette. Maybe I’ll just supercharge my C5 🤣🤷🏻♂️
@@MrJunior82006 yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I have a C5 as well. Also C7s have a 7 speed.
People who track their cars bro.

The starting price will be around 180k-245k. The Zora is last & that will be 225k-290k. I still have my 2020 C8 it’s just that much fun to drive.
have you dont anything to it? like small mods?
Right on the nose 👃 with the pricing , I don’t think most people realize how much the c7 z06s and zr1 were , I have an 18 z06 3lz with carbon ceramics and sticker was 108$ 6 years ago 😂
Nah I think it’ll be $150-175$
No it won't. The last ZR1 was nowhere near that. They started at 125K in 2019
GM's not capable of mfg. an 800 hp engine that's even close to sustainable ... the C7 Corvette factory recall proves that!
Working at GM and seeing these cars where I am at i promiseeeeee you this car is going to break the internet lol
That sounds interesting. 😊
That’s awesome.
Porsche GT cars still superior
The auto-shift gearbox is weak & having many failures, & there's not currently a manual-shift box available. Think "updated Rock Crusher" & develop it
I just got a z06 c8 a month ago and it's such a fun car. I'd be honored to tip my hat to a zr1 next year.
If it’s 800 hp w/ 800 ftlb then it’s not a flat plane crank. More than likely it could be a revamped 5.5L motor used during the GT series in 2010. That was an amazing motor.
he says that its not a flat plane crank
It's going to be a cross plane crank instead.
Looking forward to see the 2025 ZR1 price and features . I still have the 2020 3LT with 36,000 miles. I plan to sale it in order to buy the 2025 ZR1. Love the way my C8 handles on and off the track. I was able to go to Ron Fellows track for two days. I highly recommend going to it, it teaches you what the C8 can do on a wet and dry track. Love the experience and the training by professional instructors . Love your video
The ZR1 will only be king of the hill until the Zora comes out.
IIRC. the ZR1 is the ZoRa.
@@ExileXCross Na the Zora will be the ultimate Vette and unattainable for us commoners, we will have to settle for a mere 800 hp car. 😊
@Fred-vy1hm the ZR reads as code for Zora though
A Zora is what exactly I’ve never heard of it before 🏴👍🏻
Hey, if GM can also bring a next level ZR1 called the Zora to market, let them. Will be amazing.
I swear that ev’s won’t take over and I pray that they don’t. Meanwhile Ford and GM are our hope. I’d really miss a few hydrocarbons once in a while. Here’s hoping that lots of us get to test drive this new vette and it sticks.
I agree completely but I think hybrid is the way of the future. Charging the hybrid system with normal driving or powered through braking. EV is a fad and will go away one people realize the penalty for using them.
EV are not gonna end fully, because of the low cost, the thing EVs cars need to change is their transmissions for better range and not a crazy unnecessary acceleration, hybrid cars are also gonna get bigger, combustion only cars are also gonna keep on market because of the better top speed
@@fuselpeter5393Every electric car has a transmission, even if it is just a one speed. The electric motors still do not drive the wheeks directly.
Dude. EVs are taking over. Its the law. Ford and GM are not allowed to make any more engines past a certain point.

that video shows ERay and Z06. then ZR1. i think it will have the Z06 engine and ERay front motor.
most likely. Even without turbos that would make total package 800+ hp.
This was a great, realistic speculative video. Well researched, not hyped, well informed. Earned a sub
Not hyped? You gotto be joking.
The Corvette has always been an I want American car but as a Brit not always on my radar unless I’m watching LeMan at which they sound earth shattering 🏴👍🏻
Exciting video. Thank you.
Was wondering if there ever was a Z06? For some reason I thought that was a model Corvette I heard about growing up in the 80’s.
Thanks bro!!
Loved this video!!
I literally see more C8's than I do ZL'1s, both 5th and 6th gen. Which is kinda wild.
Love the fact that the Corvette is still practically a luxurious and comfortable cruise sports car - shame they had to go MR, as I love how the C7 looks with the long hood (I love long hoods, like Viper).
That's what they say every year oh this is the most powerful Corvette we ever built until next year until they build another one
And that’s why we love Corvette I hope they keep it up far into the future when mfers are driving all electric vehicles and don’t even remember the sound of a combustion engine until my 2055 fire breathing vette with 3,000 HP comes flying by at Mach Jesus.
...i mean, this is basically what every other auto maker does with their performance models.
See: Dodge Charger and Challenger
And for my entire life, they have said "Now its finally as good as a Ferrari". Every single model. And they will keep doing that long after Im gone too.
@@captain_context9991 ... until it's better. Which will happen.
Probably be 800+ horsepower and 200 electric to equal a 1000. Cost will be 160K base and top out at 200K. This was a guesstimate years ago and probably will come true.
That’s what I’ve also thought.
The e rays’ front wheel driveline plus a turbo v8.
That would be killer.
That’s gonna be for the Corvette zora model
@@jahmondokatsugaya2945 they’ve been talking about a zora for 15 years. Still nothing.
@@mcgusto82 they need to make something because no vette enthusiast would want a hybrid ZR1. It would me in the same boat as the hybrid nsx.
@@jahmondokatsugaya2945 also the Ferrari Enzo, and McLaren P1. If I had the money I’d buy a hybrid corvette.
I was always a fan of the C4 ZR1 with the quad cam mercury marine engine. That engine was able to handle more power, but they worried about long term vibration
Awesome car, I had a 93 LT1 300 HP car and my Friend had a 93 ZR1 LT5 back in the day mine was fun but his was a true monster for its time. 405HP in 93 was awesome when most of your run of the mill V8’s where making 195-225HP
Corvette needs to join the American hypercar scene with Ford GT and Dodge Viper. Although, IDK if I'd call the Viper a hyper car since it's still got a ton of creature comfort and still huge.
AMG has an FPC Turbo V8, and so do Mclaren and Ferrari. I don't know how much benefit of the FPC is retained when you add force induction. Also, can GM achieve a level of reliability that they're comfortable with? At first, I had a funny feeling it was just going to be a 5.5L version of the stingray, maybe with beefier motors, however some articles are saying a twin-turbo 5.5L ZR1 has been previewed to dealers. I'm excited to see what kind of handling tech GM introduces. I'm hoping Michelin comes out with some new tire tech for the custom tires the ZR1 will inevitably receive. The Pilot Sport 4s has been the top dog for the last 7 years. (Besides the ridiculously track focused Cup 2s.) It would be awesome to finally see a successor. I'm hoping the ZR1 gets something crazier than the OEM only Pilot Sport S5, most performance cars will soon be rocking. The eventual trickle down will be nice. I feel like companies have been so focused on EV tires lately.
That's unfortunate that it likely won't be a flat plane crank V8. I thought maybe they were going the Ferrari route as they transitioned from the 458 to the 488. What they did was obviously keep the flat plane V8, but they lowered the displacement from 4.5 liters to 3.9 while also lowering the compression and thereby the redline as well. They ended up with a twin turbocharged 3.9 liter V8 that retained the flat plane crank configuration and a respectable, almost 8k RPM redline. Judging by the exhaust note, however, it would seem that they went with the Ford route. They kept the displacement the same, but entirely changed the internals.
Cross plane crank
First they bought 3 Ferraris when developing the C8 platform. First a 10 years older first generation 458 Italia, then they bought the 488, then they bought a 458 Speciale. To pick them apart and copy the good bits. Then they bought the engine out of a crashed 458 and straight-up copied it. And thats how they got the engine they use today. I very much doubt they will down scale it or do much more with it already. Its still a new design. They will just race it up a little.
it cant and wont .. turbos on that flat crank would be difficult plus someone very close to the inside confirmed its NOT the flat plane crank. Nobody going to be able to afford the couple hundred thousand dollar GTD and im sure the zr1 will be up as well (above the z06) and zora will be for who has FU money
Highly unlikely that either will have insane price points.
Thing is. If its going to cost supercar money, you would rather buy a European supercar.
@captain_context9991 its not. It wont even be 200K fully loaded because they never have been in the history of the brand
having had a C5 to my knowledge that is stock hearing people talk about the C6 or C7 or modern cars like the mustang and C8 topping at 200mph or just over is crazy b/c iv had my base model to at least 235.
when you hit 200 in a C5 the hud will 00 itself then start counting up again.
iv never had it there on a track but its been there in Mexico over a 20 mil run
That’s what I thought.
The 2012 ZR1 was admitted to be 212mph with a whole lot more power than the Z06 that was also supposed to be over 200mph. That was 638hp, going 212 on the books.
800-1000hp ought to do quite more than 212 and get to that in 8-9 seconds…
Glad someone else could say what I was thinking too.
@@dallynsrI doubt there's much benefit to gearing it to go that fast. Making the 0-60 and quarter mile numbers lower sells more cars to the average buyer. Not that a zr1 has ever been affordable to an average buyer 😅. But, I'm sure diff gear options will be available for higher top speeds 😉.
Guessing the $150k you mentioned. Gotta keep it as less than unubtainium. As Always, May God Bless you and yours! 😇
I love the GTD. Just wish the damn price wasn't so high that it's basically unattainable to some who's not a millionaire. Sure the zr1 won't be far behind in price though. The zo6 is a badass car, Would be cool if the use the same motor with little power compression and some stronger rods and pistons
I live close to the GM Proving Ground, we hear them
It's a bit wrong to call it front-engine - the last front-engine Corvette was 1962 (engine over the front axle). They've been front-mid-engine since the C2 in 1963. The engine is between the axles and in front of the driver. C8 is rear-mid-engjne - between axles and behind the driver.
Great video, thanks! very anxious to see the new beast!
I do not see that torque and hp being so close in matching numbers and still using the flatplane. My C6 ZR1 with 20k of mods was an absolute beast.
Hopefully it's a full-on GTD / ACR style car. We all want to see what the new mid engine platform is fully capable of! Right?
The standard C8, Z06, and E-ray are already the comfortable ones. Make the ZR-1 a stripped, racing bucket, track weapon!
C8 ZR1 is about to eat absolutely everything.
In a straight line and and zigzags.
Porsche still king of the track
The C8 is the most game-changing and iconic American car made since the Ford GT40 from the 70s.
The Ford GT40 was built in England in the mid 60s. And also its funny how GM bought 3 Ferraris when developing the C8 and copied them. Then they bought the engine out of a crashed Ferrari 458 Speciale and straight-up copied it to make the new Z06 engine. Look it up.
@@captain_context9991 My old Mercedes SUV was built in America. Does that make it an American car?
@@FelixPfaltermann
Haha all the parts on that Mercedese were NOT built in the US of Murca. The car was simply assembled in the US because then it doesnt have to be imported into the US as a car, it creates American jobs, and they get to dodge a hell of a lot of import, car, and luxury taxes.
Is that why the Brits designed and built the Ford GT40? I mean... Are there any similarities at all? This is called a load of copium.
@@captain_context9991 wait, so now the GT40 is Australian because Ron Bradshaw designed it?
@@FelixPfaltermann
Uh, it was built in Slough England outside of Windsor using a Lola MK6 as a base. Its virtually the same exact car. It was easy to pass this off as an American supercar / racecar back in the 60s when nobody could look things up on the net, but today anyone can. There is no mystery in that.
I wish they made the Vette AWD, same with the Mustang. Imagine being able to put that power down like a GTR or a Porsche!
Same here, remember the old DSM cars which were OG AWD tuner cars? With that much power it just makes sense to go AWD
Could not agree more! I believe GM is making a big mistake not making the ZR1 an AWD.
The GT3RS is RWD and have no problem putting the power down. I can understand the front engine cars but, they shouldn't have that issue with a mid-engine car.
@@carlospacheco8640 Yeah but the fastest 0-60 cars are mostly AWD. Porsche and Lamborghini both make AWD mid engine supercars. We're just saying that the American muscle car manufacturers should put out some AWD ICE monsters. Another problem with RWD is that you need to choose between drag radials and tires designed for corners. With AWD you can have the best of both worlds.
@@hegsagawd9839 I stated in another comment that front engine cars would benefit from AWD. GM wants to make the ZR1 a track weapon, AWD is not the solution considering it is now a mid-engine car. Also, even if you have AWD, your gonna spin the entire 1/4 (real drag strip) without drag radials when you have that kind of power. Just wanted to add that 0-60 is becoming irrelevant in the speed that these cars go now.
Still no 3rd pedal? Still no care.
Until that changes, the C7 was the list Corvette in my eyes
The C7 spins so it doesn’t win. Midengine > front engine.
@FelixPfaltermann your missing the point.we don't care if the tires spin
@@FelixPfaltermann c7 spins so it wins
were you going to buy one if it came in manual
While Ferrari currently sells 13 different models, its strange that Corvette could not continue the front engined edition alongside this mid-engined one, yes.
About damn time. :)
The final version of the C8 (that people think is gonna be called “Zora”) have all the sauces. Z06 suspension/widebody, twin turbo V8 and the e-rays electric AWD hybrid. A true king slayer.
Supercharged big block is my guess. We will be seeing 1500 / 2000 hp once the aftermarket and tuner crowd gets to it. Maybe even more than that. It's a GTR killer if I'm not wrong.
I owned a C8….damn I miss that car.
Probably a better option to beef up the 6.2l and twin turbo it and add some electric motor like the e-ray . Ls9 was pretty much like that so was the lt5 I believe was the one on the last zr1 . Just a bigger supercharger lt4 from the z06 . Either way it's gonna be untouchable for at least a year when it comes out . The mark ups are gonna be insane
Good. I hope it takes the heat off me getting a ZO6 Vet.
I seen a whire one here in athens texas yesterday
I can't wait to see this and a GT3 RS go at it on a track.
GT3 RS will eat it alive on the track
Maybe they watched Emilia Hartford and took notes. Her TT C8 is hands down a beast

Dodge is putting out a new motor for the ram 1500, its a twin turbo 3.0L v6, 540hp. And a create version in the 1000hp range, but can they build a transmission that will hold hold up the kinda power? The 5.7L hemi eats their transmissions. We'll F around and Find out.

Zora is smiling down on this one. This is what he wanted to do in the '60s and the bean counters wouldn't let him
Have always wanted a '72/C3 and now I have to add a '23/C8... Of course I may just be day dreaming??? Oh well, it is what it is!!! 😃
They really should try to keep the price of the entry level ZR1 in the $150,000 - $165,000 range and then offer the super duper upgrade track packages for the big bucks. The price for them to build this engine isn't going to that much more than the other models, obviously it will cost more to build but not that much. Especially if it's not a flatplane screamer.
They should also try to put some rules in place for who can get them and choose driver's over collectors and make em wait a year to sell it.
This is not unprecedented and I've seen other companies do things like this. This is assuming they are not making a large production run. I guess if they made enough of them with matter, but that's probably not happening. But who knows they may surprise us. Especially if they don't overprice it.
Im 1:30 in the video as I’m typing this, you just said twin turbo but i guess supercharged and im pretty sure they want to include the e ray ev system, so maybe the zr1 is made to destroy the 0-60 record
It would be nice to see to see the corvette in Nascar 2025
Im convinced Zora will have a carbon tub or something insane.
Per the lead Engineer that was on Jay Leno’s channel when he reviewed the E-Ray. The ZR1 will be rear wheel drive only, and slower than the E-Ray 0-60.
7:48 the ZR1 wont be TOO out of this world, the Zora will be the collector Vette
Unless it’s AWD, that much power to the rear wheels will just make them spin, and it will take electronic slip control to keep the back end under control, ie, by reducing the power.
My fear is that this may be the last of the true muscle cars ever produced.
I read some time ago that it was going to be AWD hybrid 1000+ hp
I. Getting this ZR1 the ZL1 is amazing but omg 😲 😂🎉 this cars going to be the top car of 2025 and then on. Unless you go into Pagani
My guess is that it will be modified version of the Blackwing engine with some electric power to meet the 800/800 number. Perhaps pushing the output from 650 to 725 and using a small 75HP electric motor that can be charged quickly or can be charged by the engine/braking to be used in a track only mode. Help to mitigate turbo lag, keep power down while shifting, supplement launch mode. Maybe they go fuckin bonkers and add something like a "push to pass" button instead of DRS, that would be fuckin wild 😂😂
I think the zr1 is going to the road and track car and the zora will be balls to wall track like the GTD
Surprising😮
Probably the only American car I would like to actually own.
From a performance perspective can someone explain to me why anyone would go out of their way to own this car when you can make 1500hp GTR for the same price?
I really look forward to a proper electric sports car. Family cars, and converted ones, are already very fast, so imagine an actual electric car.
The electric Dodge is a good example, but idk about the "Those who buy this won't care about range/efficiency, so we won't tell you rn lmao" part
Z06 is a Track Performance RPO Code option. ZR1 is a High Speed RPO Code option. No need to ask
Its just going to be a slightly upgraded Z06 which is more raced out and a lot more expensive. It wont break the internet.
@@captain_context9991 If that's your way of saying the ZR1 will have updates learned last year from racing, with more power & less downforce than the Z06, we agree.
@@ronaldsimms-nh7dx
Well, yes. It will just be a slightly raced up Z06. But also the quoted downforce on the Z06 is almost nothing. I mean they quote some 300 kg of downforce and thats fine. But they quote it at 186 mph. Which is probably twice as fast as you will ever go on a track. Especially round a bend, you will be doing a quarter of that at most. So you will never get into that downforce. Maybe half of it. Which is not enough downforce for you to actually notice.
This is likely done to achieve a better top speed. Cornering speeds in this car does not come from downforce but from fat sticky tyres providing mechanical grip.
@@captain_context9991 I don't know how much you weigh my friend, but I can feel the difference with a college gymnast in the passenger seat or not.. She's all of 120lbs with sweats on.. AT 186, I want NO downforce! That is a weird stat, for sure!!
I know the interior designers will cry over it, but they need a 7spd manual option. It's more fun than even the best paddle shifters
I think you misjudge the market. last corvette meeting I went to a lady said she just hits the gas to go, and doesn't know how to use her paddle shifters.
@@richardelliott8352 The late boomer market is still there to have as an option, but GM is not paying millions of dollars to redesign the interior for an optional transmission. They would have to remove the stupid looking center console beam
800fts out of a dohc v8 that should be arnd 1100 Hp😮
I'm hoping they keep it under 200 since they still have the limited production ZORA to match the GTD.
It’s really amazing that GM still has the resources to further development of this car after all the money they have lost on EV’s.
Wouldn’t be surprised if some of these manufacturers consolidate or worse yet go bankrupt. I mean how the hell is Stelantis even still operating. Sad state of the industry.
They were having a lot of problems with the z06 engine I doubt they're going to strap some twin turbos to that
Bruh! For a hot second I thought Seth Rogen was doing car reviews 😂
Not gone lie. I hope they supercharge it 🏁

This thing is going to hover around $225k with most options. I'd be surprised if the entry price is below $180k.
Nice fit.
It's gonna be an ERAY with a supercharged V8.
The ZR1 will undoubtedly be outrageously expensive. Just look at how high the Z06 and eray (grand sport) are compared to their predecessors. It will have the eray awd, Z07 like aero package, carbon brakes and forced induction. I’m guessing close to $200k msrp
Im glad they will force induct a v8 versus using a v6
