If you take them back to the dealership for repair they will last only 6 months after that repair. Sad as there are no longer any trustworthy mechanics left on planet earth
Most things aren't made to last. Take for instance the light bulb. Their made to burn up in 6 or 8 months so you have to go buy more. The gov allows this to. Theirs a utube video that explains this. Think it's called ' why we can't have nice things '. Was a good watch, for me anyway.

It's acting as a pony motor. Before electric starters were common in large engines, pony motors were used since an electric starter to do the same job would have been horrendously expensive and probably lived a short life.

This is actually similiar to how they used to start large triple expansion steam engines like the ones on the Titanic. Instead of the motor bike engine, they used what was called a "Browns Hydraulic engine" to spin over the huge crankshaft and get the pistons moving before closing the pressure valves on the LP cylinder IIRC and switching over to steam.
I found a honda trail 70 abandoned in the woods in the 90s. It was covered with leaves and branches and things. It actually started after me and another kid kicked it for a while and he kept it, being the way older kid.

now thats a modern solution to an old problem, literally, back in the day when these engines were normally used in factories, youd have one or at best two horses parked nearby, and hook them up to that smaller pulley to start the engine, then couple it up the the mechanisms of the factory once it was running

At least this engine seems to be well maintained. I've seen other videos in which those engines pollute like hell, from their exhaust and from all the grease and oil that they leak on the soil all around them. That soil becomes pure poison, polluting underground water forever every time that it rains.
