One thing you should’ve mentioned that proves the slayer is the classic doom guy is the cutscene from doom eternal where the night sentinels were dragging him in the castle and said “we found him outside the castle walls, he was badly wounded and wearing this” and then proceeded to show the priest the old doom guy helmet

Before the launch of Eternal and some time after it there was a division between the defenders of each lore theory about it iirc
Doom 2016 was fairly unclear as to whether the Slayer was the original Doom Marine or if 2016 was a reboot of sorts. Doom Eternal confirmed that he was in fact the original Marine and added much more to the lore about what is essentially the multiverse.
Before Eternal came out there was a bit debate on whether it was the same character or not. Some believed he wasn't since it was marketed as a reboot, some believed he was since the game was obviously taking inspiration from the classics and due to subtle and not so subtle clues in Doom 2016. With Eternal's story being more cinematic, they confirmed he was the same guy ending the debate.

@@michaelhansen2818 We already know what happens if you read all the information in both modern Doom games and listen to interviews from the developers. They even released a new Doom 64 level that follows Doomguy beating the Mother Demon and how he gets to the Sentinel world.

The power unleashed when he killed the final boss of doom 64 transported to the sentinel home world then the demons followed him to the sentinel home world.
That doesn’t really fit the timeline though. Doom guy killed the mother demon and chose to stay in hell. Unexpectedly, he was sent back to his universe again, only for him to reenter hell and kill the resurrector. After that, he stayed in hell for real, until he winds up with the sentinels.

Just imagine, you go back in time, visit your home but it's early history and none of your loved ones are born even, you didn't change the past to prevent it's horrible outcome. Demons attacks and that's how some Aggadon Hunters happen to be frozen there. Yet, by interfering with the past future is changed too, and now things go just a tad different. Now UAC works under other conditions and weapons are similar etc but your family, bunny, kid, wife never appeared. Or haven't even met you in the first place. Or die again in the same invasion from Eternal's prologue level. That'd be very heartbreaking given that context. Doom indeed Eternal
Depending on Hugo’s definition of the multiverse, it’s possible that he considers an alternate timeline to be a different universe. The difference between the two is not always clear

@@gittin7472they were very important. But much like John Wick’s dog, Daisy was a means for the Slayer to grieve and cope with the loss of his family and friends. Essentially, the bunny was all the family he had left. When that family was taken from him, that was the last straw. It’s really sad when you think about it
he gets transported to sentinel prime by the mother demon’s twin sister in the doom 64 lost levels. after wandering hell for a bit he gets sent back to earth briefly by the twin only to come back and hunt her down. he defeats her and she uses her dying breath to send him to sentinel prime.
Not saying you’re wrong but that’s not exactly explicit. I hope The Dark Ages helps solidify that a bit more.

Even if he's on your side, you should always fear the guy that can single handedly fight all of Hell and win.

It's clearly an allegorical reference to our previous experiences with Doom 1 and 2, but these are clearly separate continuities.
Hugo literally confirmed that they’re the same character. They’re separate universes but technically the same continuity thanks to Doom Guys presence.
To explain, Hell in Doom is unbound by space and time, it touches all universes and dimensions, so Doomguy was essentially spit out into a different universe than his own (or the night sentinels brought him there, i forget)

I always thought that the the first demon invasion happened like a few million years ago and that’s why humans took and interest in harvesting the argent energy because of it and slayer had been reawakened for when he needed to fight after 64

I think its a little ridiculous to chalk it all up to a rabbit, when I feel like any soldier you'll ever meet will tell you they greatly love their family, their comrades, and people in general. Hes seen all three killed almost entirely.

I chose to play doom eternal on nightmare difficulty on my first playthough and it took me a little less than a week (and a lot of rage) but I ripped and tore my way to the khan maker then slaughtered the icon of sin then 100% the campaign...

I'm doing my first nightmare playthrough of the base game. It shouldn't be too troublesome. But I dread having to deal with the spirits in the DLCs. They were so annoying on ultra-violence. They're absolutely gonna piss me the f off.

Agreed, up until that reveal I brushed off anyone claiming it was the classic Doom Marine because there was no real basis for believing it (that I know about). The only reason at the time to claim so was because they WANTED it to be.

Well he didn’t decide to stay in hell after doom 2 as you made it seem it was after doom 64 when he beats the resurrector and as a final payback to doom guy for killing her sister(the mother of all demons) she sends him to the first ages of hell with no way out and nothing to do but fight the hordes of hell eternally until he’s transported to sentinel prime on argent dnur(I still wish they explained what exactly transported him there it’s the only pretty big whole in the lore)

The family isn't canon, they only show up once in a photo found nowhere in eternal but its files, Daisy was the snapping point, if you want more, theres the squadron he was sent with, the entire phobos base, and earth as a whole. He doesn't need anything other than the fact they threaten his people, he beat his commaning officer to near death over random peoples lives, he doesn't need his family as the motivation, as Daisy was already past the tipping point, she was the straw that broke the camels back, amidst the millions of other reasons. The only canon wife Doom guy has is Isabelle.
It is canon. Hugo has confirmed it directly in a live stream. Also, it is in Eternal. You can see it on the floor in the fortress of doom.

So that means that doom 3 takes place in the doom eternal universe where doom slayer was transferred to , because some of the artifacts from doom 3 can be found in Doom Eternal/Doom 2016,that would mean doom 3 took place before Doom guy entered this universe because as far as I've seen doom 3 and its continuations had never shown the hell invasion being successful on Earth in this universe which means that the Earth was only corrupted when they found the Doom slayer/Original Doom guy and when the UAC and Hayden started looking into Argent energy.Correct me if im wrong but the doom multiverse is connected to one hell so that means all the demons,the dark lord and the Icon of sin are still the ones who attacked the Doom slayers universe so he is still fighting the Demons who took everything from him.i just don't understand how Demons like the Hell knight lost their more classic goat like demon appearance.

Demons with different appearances are simply subspecies. Hell has existed for a very long time and during that time, it’s had its own evolution, of sorts.
Now, the real question is this; is the slayer the same cheese filled, one line spitting guy from the comics?
Yes! I actually have a long form video dedicated to the lore of the comic. Hugo Martin, the game director of the new DOOM trilogy, has said he considers it canon. It seems to take place during DOOM (1993).

No. They’re related. BJ is Doom Guy’s ancestor. How far back isn’t exactly clear though.
His name isn’t actually Flynn Taggart either. In the original books, yes but that continuity is separate from the games and can’t be canon to them. It diverges way too much. That being said, they could be canon via the multiverse. The multiverse has been used as a plot point to explain that the earth the slayer saves in the new trilogy is different from the old one. Plus, DOOM is canon to Quake and includes Doom Guy as a playable character. I don’t think anyone at id considers the slayer to be named Flynn Taggart though. If anything, Flynn Taggart is a Doom Guy within the multiverse, akin to one of the DOOM 3 guys, rather than THE Doom Guy.

Doomguy was a Marine stationed on Mars after he disobeyed an order to open fire on civilians and beat the shit out of the officer who gave the command.
He survived the invasion of Mars and after fighting in hell he was sent back to Earth where the forces of Hell had already invaded. They also murdered his pet bunny Daisy. After putting foot to ass he decided to stay in hell to destroy it all and was eventually found for the Sentinels who put him through a number of trials and gladiator style fights until he was selected to become empowered with the divines power. He then started beating ass so much that the main Makyr gods sealed him in hell and he was recovered prior to Doom 2016 and you know the rest. Originally Doomguy was kept vague to allow people to resonate and feel as though they were him.
He wasn't selected to get his powers I think, the seraphim took him to the divinity chamber without the night sentinels and priests knowing his plans

It's a different earth. The original Earth he defended in his journey from DOOM 1993 till DOOM 64 got destroyed i think. I mean Doomguy was millions of years in hell. I think it's the 7th dimension he originally belongs to.

Its alot more complexed then that The doomguy is not the all powerfull legendary slayer by nature. He origanl encounterd the sentinels and during a great siege The serephim put in him the divinity machine. Granting him terrable power. to rivel that of Davoth.
In doom eternal i found bunny in a prison room in a mission towards the end where you are in hell after the brain with the four eyes ( i think) ( urelated but the peaple you meat throughout the game are afraid of him because they are from the compani that is "promoting" the devils (the blue hologram girl) )

Honestly, y'all are thinking too hard about all of this. The story is about a man who fought his way through hell at the whim of his employers, lost his family and pet rabbit, lost his mind, and proceeded to eliminate all demons with extreme prejudice. As far as the new timeline, the slayer could give less of a crap about the story. All he knows is "kill all demons".
Id really tried stitching their lore together as more of an afterthought if anything, since upon closer review it doesnt really make any sense with the retcons and everything

Doom 1&2 is Doom 2016 & eternal as they are reboots are the first two, however doomguy from Doom64 is the true slayer.. Doom 3 is still part of the lore as Doom 3 story happens between doom64 & 2016 which is why UAC is already accustomed to hell energy. Doom3 talks about an ancient war between the sentinels and hell. So hopefully in the new dark ages doom it’ll explain how the skater created the soul cube.

We don’t see his creation. We see him arrive with the night sentinels and later obtain power from the divinity machine. Everything before that is when the old games happens. This isn’t a theory. It’s confirmed not only in game when doom guy is shown wearing his 64 suit but by the game director himself during a live stream on RUclips.

Ha. If you want to call that canon, it would have to be an alternate universe. One in which hell indirectly manifests itself. There are no portals, so I guess you could say the demons simply influenced events, rather than directly intervened with a physical presence.

I don't think doom eternal Earth is different than Slayer's home planet. The Eternal Earth is the same. How else would the inhabitants of Eternal Earth know about Slayer. They prayed for him to save them because he already did a couple of centuries ago in Doom 64
