I know someone like Harry Carey. Not exciting to talk to IRL. It's only funny cause it's a spot on impression and the delivery. But like most of these characters, I do NOT like to live it. I'm related the the woman who thinks she knows something about current events, but just shows how stupid she sounds by being that annoying girl at a party that u try to chew ur leg off to run away.

My parents had a best of Will Ferrell on SNL dvd and this skit is one of our favorites, we quote it all the time. “my favorite planets the sun! I could stare at it for hours” 😂😂 classic

this is just one of the all-time best. to this day my friends and i will randomly interrupt conversations with "HEY!" and thensome stupid unrelated question.
I bonded with some of my cousins because according to them, I did a perfect Ferrell-as-Caray impersonation, and they couldn't get enough of it. Same with some of my classmates in high school: I'd do Ferrell-as-Caray and they'd be doubled over laughing.

This is one of Will's beat sketches ever. Me and my sisters still quote this to this day. "Would ya eat it" "Just answer the question and we'll move on" and of course the loud random "Hey!" while shaking your head.

It's even funnier if you're aware of Harry Caray's idiosyncrasies. But Will Ferrell's portrayal is so funny, it stands on its own even if one didn't know who Harry Caray was at all.
As much as I love this. The idiosyncrasies of Pat Hughes and Ron Santo are hilarious
i believe that "timing" is essential when you deliver a line, and i don't think you can get better timing that what Ferrell did here. PERFECT
I was trying to think of all the reason this skit is so great. Timing is definitely one.

Will Farrell will forever be a GREAT. His timing is insane. He can literally sit there and twitch for 8 seconds and is HILARIOUS 😂
My dad recorded this on VHS when I was a kid so we could watch it all the time. We used that tape for years to watch this skit, like revisiting an old RUclips video. It cracked me up then and it still gets me now!

You can tell the first couple questions Jeff is looking at the cue cards, and then when he asks about the moon being made of spare ribs, Jeff is like "what? how do I answer that??". I think Will went off script, LOL!

I remember the first time I saw this skit. The mad cow question was one of the 3 times in my life that I actually laughed uncontrollable. I laughed for several minutes straight. I guess it was just my frame of mind right at that moment. My girlfriend thought I was nuts.
To understand the comic genius in Will Ferrell is to just let go and feel the funny!!!

I love SNL for the most part and I didn't use to like Will Ferrell (granted I was watching dubbed versions so that had a part in it) but after watching this he became one of my favorite comedy actors and this is my favorite SNL sketch. I hope he get's invited to come back more often.

By Will not answering Jeff's final question or statement, that's where the brilliance really comes out. Because no matter what answer he gave to Jeff, the comedic payoff would not have worked as well. Plus, by the ambiguous silence he leaves Jeff Goldblum in the end, fits with the rest of Harry Carey's craziness and eccentric mannerisms/personality. This sketch really showcases Will Ferrell's strongest talent in the character driven performances he does, that's where his gift really shines. I love how he outwits Jeff and causes him to break down laughing and snap out of character
i’ve never watched a second of baseball and had never even heard of harry caray when i first saw this and it’s still one of the funniest skits i’ve ever seen
I played when ize a kid, but had never heard of him either until this skit. Gotta be an all time favorite of mine, along with spartan cheerleaders! Stay safe man.
This is easily one of the best bits Will Ferrell did on SNL.
I honestly wonder is Jeff Goldblum knew exactly what this was going to be like? He seems genuinely confused during most of it. Or maybe he's just a better actor than I'm giving him credit for.
I suspect that they did to him what Mulaney used to do to Bill Hader. Rehearsed it the "right" way, then changed everything and made him vamp for the bit.
Matt Ruller that “What?” at 2:30 sounds genuine. I think Will probably ambushed him with that bit. Great stuff.
It's hard to tell with Goldblum especially because he *always* sounds hesitant and like the words are just coming to him on a slight delay, even when he's obivously memorized a script.

I used to watch SNL every weekend, back from the Ackroyd/ Chase/ Murray days and all the others in between. This skit ranks in the top 5 I’ve ever seen. Ferrell is great, and ad libbing or not, Jeff Goldblum is so on point. Just good, clean humor.

Im with Fidel Cashflow, the shaking/tremors make me laugh everytime, especially at 3:08 when he makes that short look at Jeff. He was a lifesize bobble-head figure. lol

As a person who studied Theater, it's so interesting watching Goldblum fight his personality habits- like touching his face, gesturing with his hands, and even how he folds his arms over his chest. He's doing everything to keep character while trying to remain active in the scene. That's a hard thing to do no matter who you are. He kinda loosens up a little by the end, and starts giving Ferrell more to interact with. But good fun all around. This is one of my favorite SNL moments, and I always crack up with laughter.
Props and kudos to him for being the professional. I would have broken many times throughout this sketch, and Goldblum does his job here. :)

He didn’t “Break.” He is playing his “character” throughout. His “character” is on a Show in front of an audience hosted by Harry Caray, and the “character” thinks it’s ridiculous. He is in “character” the entire time.
This is the only character that makes me laugh my ass off just by looking at him. That shaking he does just kills me every time.
He even more stranger than Jeff goldblum ... How awesome is that.

Whenever I need a good laugh I come by for this and it never disappoints. Ferrell nails it and his jumping around from subject to subject seems to have Goldblum on his heels 😂

I have a sneaking suspicion that Jeff Goldblum want even given a script for this sketch. I think he was just told to get in there and improvise to Will's questions because he looks genuinely dumbfounded & speechless by some of Will's questions. I love it!
