- I love a DIY project using things I already have! This home office needed some major help, and the IKEA Hemnes line is great because it is actually solid wood, unlike the Billy Bookcase. I know I may get comments about ways to do this better, and that's OK! I love to learn new skills. We all start somewhere in our DIY journey and we can build our skillset with each new project. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Love this video. I'm taking this idea and working it. Thanks!!
I want to do something with my hemnes and you’ve just solved of my problems.
Amazing! Your husband is lucky!
Looks great
That looks great. Love the color.
This looks fantastic! I would recommend to paint the bright white outlet cover the same color of the wall. ❤
You are so right! I may do that at some point. Our paper shredder is actually in front of it, so you don’t actually see it anyways.
Or brass colored?
Wow! They turned out so well! You did an amazing job. Love the color too.
Thank you! The color is Sherwin Williams Naval.
6:30 Much easier than hacking apart the baseboard would be to chop the legs off the dressers and then build a 2"x4" or 2"x6" pedestal/platform to sit the dresser on. A LOT less effort and it'll be hidden by your molding wrap.
Good tips! I love learning new things!
You did a great job, I'm loving the look and want to try it myself. I would like to know the measurements of your room, it looks a lot like mine, thank you for sharing, you really inspired me!
OMG it's gorgeous the painted parts make the natural wood tops pop even more your amazing

Looks fantastic 😍
Wow , that is beautiful and love the color looks high class most ppl do white or black only you really stepped it up . Congrats
Thanks! The rest of my house is mostly neutrals, I do a lot of zoom meeting with design clients and a wanted color in the background so they’d be open to color too!
You did a great job!
Clear vision, patience, and trust in your capabilities.. congratulations. For someone who is not a “professional woodworker”, your attention to fine-detailing and quality is the mark of a professional..
Wonderful work. I wonder if a horizontal brace under the floating desktop might have worked well considering that you could not find a wire-free position to drill into the back wall.
Thanks so much! It was one of those projects that took way longer than I thought it would. For the floating desk, I was able to get two brackets into studs and it holds the weight just fine. But you are right, a wood cleat would have worked also! I was over the trips to Home Depot though! 🙈
copy the amazing idea. so beautiful..ty for sharing
Looks great!
beautiful job!

How did you secure bookshelves to butcher block and wall?
Was this ever answered ?!
That looks really good well do e i wanna do something similar with my bedroom and even one for my clothes to hang.😮
good job!
Very nice ❤
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Hi! How did you attach the shelves to the butcher block?
I guess we’ll never know 😮
what color is this?beautiful
Thanks for sharing, was the cabinet wood or MDF? Idk I'd like to do that to two book shelves but mine I'd think it could be blown out and not work. Thanks for posting
Hello there. This is beautiful. What size are the dressers?
Thanks! They are the Hemnes 3 drawer dressers from ikea.
hi what size are your baseboards? great job
Thanks! They are 5 3/4”.
How did you solve the leg situation with the cabinet sitting on top? I want to try it for myself
I cut them off.
@@theinteriorlyfe2043 and it was still stable without it? Good to know 😊
I want to do something like this but I am so scared! 😅😂
It took me 4 years to get up the courage! I do not have a builders brain and it took me months of measuring and planning. I’m sure someone else could do it in an hour. I will admit, I cussed a lot, but I also learned a lot! You can do it!
What was the total cost of this project?
Kinda confused why you reply to comments, but you ignore the comments asking how you attached the book case to the butcher block ?🤔
I don’t think the shelves are actually attached to the block, they’re standing on top and attached to the wall and then it looks like she glued the trim in place.
Sorry for the delay! I own my own business and have been slammed with work for weeks, we went on vacation, and I came back with Covid. The bookshelves are sitting on top of the butcher block and not attached to it. The bookshelves have a top bracer bar that is difficult to see on video, but I screwed this part to the stud in the wall. I did trim out the base of the bookshelf where it sits on the butcher block for a more finished look.
good job!
