- Now that I'm getting settled into my new place, it's time to start designing my craft studio/home office space! I really wanted to try something different by challenging myself to build a fully removable shiplap wall with built-in bookshelves. Of course, this is all renter-friendly and more of a "faux" built-in look. How do you think it turned out? ✨

Great job, Alli! If you walked into the room without knowing they weren't built-ins, you certainly would think they were. Your patience to do everything so methodically I aspire to! Can't wait for more.
Love your idea. From personal experience, your desk needs more support. It will sag. Using a one and a half inch solid wood board and 1"x 2" screwed into the studs at the back for extra support. You can take the shelf you made and just put it about 4" lower to hold your laptop. It will also need to still have the wood supporting the width.
This is her craft room, and a sewing machine will go there on the desk. I need to see my fabric, and where that machine needle is stitching, in and out of the fabric, and how close my fingers were to that needle. Safety first. She may use another desk with her laptop.
I agree with your thoughts on supporting that desk top, especially with a heavy sewing machine on top.😊
It looks beautiful! Maybe before removing (a few years from now) make sure the landlord doesn't want to keep it. It really adds value to the room.
The overall look is fantastic! I can’t even imagine a landlord wanting you to remove it, as it would really add value to the property.

Yes!! The only things I'm keeping in the far side of the closet are my Christmas tree and some holiday decorations, so I don't really need access to it more than twice a year. There's plenty of room to pull the storage totes out!

Alli I love seeing young women working and getting things done. Just one suggestion, when meeting your corners , your crown outside corners use wood glue on cut edges before nailing.

How awesome to have a workable - beautiful (and removable!!) craft space! My "office-sewing room-craft room-storage" room is pieced together as I am also a renter. Yours is adorable! I did see a lady that had a lovely craft table that she put those furniture movers under so she could easily move it around in her craft room!! (maybe that would work for you too) :) Thanks Alli!

I kept thinking - what about the wall space below the desk? Then you pick the paint color. Very close to the wall color, so you didn't need to do anything with it.
How did you secure the "built-ins?"
Did you put grommet holes in the desk top for your electrical?

Loving your channel. If you have a ladder of some kind, I would recommend using it instead of a chair. That's because a chair can be wobbly and tip over, and you can get hirt. I did and got a concussion.
