While typically, I would agree when you buy the pre-built bookcases, you have those grooves that you can adjust the bookshelves in with the pegs to whatever height you want which she could make herself would that be drilling at least 100 little holes and then buying me shelf holder separately
Please don't start off a video w a shrieking soundbite in the future. It's kind of a hard transition as a listener scrolling youtube shorts for DIY/home design inspo.
We're the billy bookcases even needed? You built the sides, the base, the top, reinforced the back, even put trim on the front of the shelves, and filled in the shelves adjustment holes? Looks like it created more work.
It makes it look more like a built in than shelving units pushed up against the wall. AND the original backs are almost cardboard😢!!! Looks great but I wonder about the cost difference between starting with IKEA and totally from scratch🤔!!!
This is really cool- only problem is the shelves start bowing after a while. You can replace them for $15 but it looks like it would be hard to do that with these
@PeonyandHoney Ain't NUTHIN' goin' anywhere on this build! Beautiful! So elegant and practical. Are you big readers, art collectors? Are you leaving the ladder "natural," or staining/painting it?
Love it! Great job and definitely a shortcut in spite of what other people might claim that they would just start from scratch. No doubt Ikea kits make it a lot easier to put something together and just embellish it. Love it. Oh I guess I started with that. LOL
Some other people mentioned not to use the IKEA but to start from scratch. I've never been to an IKEA, so I'm wondering about the cost difference. The end result looks Great❤!!!
She said she has the complete video on her channel, a step by step tutorial❤ I haven't yet, but I'm going to watch it! I'm wondering if she covers the cost (I've never been to an IKEA). I know her wood might cost different than mine, but the IKEA cost should be the same...
I'm sure they'll make more money from views for using Ikea bookcase than just building bookcase alone plus it gives diyer hopes. It makes sense & a smart move for her & her channel 😊
Looked very nice however, you may want to move the rod to the top of the bookshelf unless you don't plan on using the top row. Or only putting things that fit under the rod.
If i could get to this far i would just build the billy bookshelf myself with real wood
True and its much cheaper than buying billy bookcase
This!
I'm sitting here thinking like, you know how to build a wall, a base, a back and for some reason the shelves are just a step too far??? 🤔
@@christinadejesus My thoughts exactly!

With all the building you did, why not just whack a few bookshelves together yourself? Surely it’s cheaper than ikea?
Exactly
Nothing is cheeper than Billy.
@@milenam756 so you can’t get a few sheets of msg and some screws cheaper?
After all that custom building I can’t see the point of using an Ikea chipboard bookcase
Oh my goodness! You all did an amazing job 👏🏾 It looks so elegant and regal.
Aww thank you

I didn't really get why they felt that they needed to use different backings. It's all up against the wall.
It makes it look more like a built in than shelving units pushed up against the wall. AND the original backs are almost cardboard😢!!! Looks great but I wonder about the cost difference between starting with IKEA and totally from scratch🤔!!!
That’s the best transformation I’ve seen using this bookshelf. Great job. I love this
Simply amazing! You did a beautiful job!
This is really cool- only problem is the shelves start bowing after a while. You can replace them for $15 but it looks like it would be hard to do that with these
Not the way we have them installed - each shelf has been reinforced with 2x4’s - they’re not going anywhere hehe
@@PeonyandHoney Y’all thought of everything and wow this looks like a $15,000 - $20,000 job!!!
I’m going to definitely watch the video!!!
👏👏👏👏

I haven't seen it, but she said she has a step by step video on her channel. I think I just might have to watch it❤!!!
Love the ladder & the molding at top I think called "dental".
Dentil. 🐼
Lmao OK let me get my dad to build a whole wall to fit billy bookcases
He definitely helped but i could do this alone - just would’ve taken me way longer
@@PeonyandHoney missed the point, which is you built a wall to add a cheap shelving unit. Lipstick on a Pig.
@@mark_a_vigilnegative much? I think it looks great.
@@mcbailey7446 hope, honest!
