I watch a ton of woodworking vids. and don't think I've ever seen a bench made like this. It's a brilliant concept / idea, almost a piece of art. Great build and enjoyed watching. thks.
That's a wonderful piece of woodwork and you're being too modest with your creation. Understand that each piece could be improved but own that work of art and embrace your creativity a little more
parillaworks I had a similar problem sanding in a small area like that... I solved it by cutting a thin strip of sand paper, and using spray adhesive on a dowel then chucking it up in a drill. If it's a long space like that use a square of wood with an oversize hole (much larger than the dowel) to put downward pressure on the other end. It will get hot so use a bit of wax in it. It did the trick for me though.
It’s a beautiful ribbon bench. It will be amazing as a desk as well, with a glass top laid across the top of the waves, at desk height and perhaps triple the width, with perhaps the floating end or the back side attached to a wall to really secure the illusion of floating. You’re an amazing artist! Thank you so much for sharing!
That is just too cool! I like the block leg. I think it actually highlights the squiggle portion. I like that the leg has a different feel being blocks and a lighter color. Wonderful job!!
There are no rules in art and this is a piece of art. The seat has been well made and carefully planned, and the leg fits perfectly and looks great,I agree it would suit a museum and the plexiglass would also look great too. WELL DONE
I think if I was to try and recreate this bench, I would makes the curves less tight in order to get a sander into the troughs. However I think that comfort would be the payoff for ease of build. I glad it was you that built this. Nice job.
3 thumbs up 👍🏾 👍🏾 👍🏾. The base you chose was 100% perfect. With something as intricate as the squiggle something straight, or normal would come off as a cop out. However anything too intricate would compete. The blocks have their own interest without taking from the squiggle. It also looks strong since the squiggle looks delicate. So it makes the whole thing visually sturdy. Only other option would be a clear acrylic base where it gives the illusion the squiggle was standing on its own.
This is one of those designs that you absolutely will never forget. I love it. Everything about it. It’s so simple but yet so complex, and the way you presented this make it simple for anyone to do. That base makes the bench “pop” I wouldn’t change it for anything else. Amazing work!
@@parillaworks no thank you. You put a ton of effort in to that top. Not saying the bottom never, but it has a good contrast of modern and rustic. That just works. Tho since I posted I seen the reply about attaching it to a wall and having it float. Which would look great. Having kids, I know mine would eventually break it though!
Your experiment turned out AWSOME. A lot of meticulous work but you did it well.Watching you build the leg I thought "What the ???" It just finished the whole project very well, well done my friend !!!! Thanks for sharing it...Cheers from John in South Australia
I liked watching you make this bench but I'm drawn to unique things and love unpainted wood. You will master it through trial and error 😁. Keep up making awesome pieces of art. Thank you.😉👍
Awesome piece of work, well done! I like the blocks for the leg. They contrast well against the orderliness of the squiggle without drawing attention from it. A different option might be a group of upright squiggles that spread out kind of like the blocks do, but with some ends sticking out organically. Very cool piece.
Fantastic video!! Love the squiggle but not so much the block leg.. I would either continue the squiggle down or did something with metal.. Fantastic job!!
Wow! Alot of work but it paid off really nice, is a cool design, very unique and the level of experience to know how abouts to even know where to started was something that I'm quite sure it really bounce in your head for some time. Impressive and I learn a whole lot, thanks for sharing your skills and ideas.
That was really amazing. A taller version would make an interesting sideboard/entrance table. Lots of possibilities! Thank you for sharing--it's a fantastic design.
I have seen a lot of comments saying how they would do the leg differently, but I like it how it is. I like the contrast it gives. I think you did a great job, I am curious to know that is would feel like to sit on.
This squiggle bench is awesome! I would absolutely have a piece of glass with feet attached to the other side under the end of the squiggle. If you wanted to go in a minimalist execution as far as not taking anything away from the squiggle itself! Beautiful project! Thanks for sharing!
Man this is not woodworking! It is creating art! Amazing looking piece. I have watched several of your videos and have to say you do some pretty amazing work. Keep up the artistic creations!!!!
That is a very unique project, I like the fact that you gave it a shot. With the blocks and the squiggle, it kind of a looks like it would go well in a kids room, in a good way. As for the sanding the valleys, you could take a dowel that is longer than the bench is deep, chuck it up in a drill and cover it in sandpaper. Using a block with a hole in it to stabilize the other end would give you a nice long drum sander. You could also use a long piece of threaded bar with a bearing and a couple nuts to hold it in place, that would give you a place to hold that end and a little more stability over that length. You could even leave the ends of the sandpaper unnattached, cut it into strips and make a really long flap sander. Just a couple of ideas to help with that tricky sanding.
Love the Squiggle Bench! What hit me that would make the perfect leg is a spiral. It would continue the wavy thought idea, but in a vertical fashion. Half the width of the bench with about the same twists per foot to keep the continuity to the piece.
I love the base you made. I think it's Unique and individual to you. It doesn't exemplify any style of furniture I've seen yet and that's the goal, to be unique and individual. Good show old chap. the clear plexiglass idea below is pretty cool as well. Check out the Slovenian Woodworkers floating table build.
I thought I was going to hate the "Jenga" look, but I actually like it all together. For whatever reason, it reminds me of my childhood. Every toy bin I ever had always had some type of block mixed in with it...even the lego bin had the stray wooden block. I think the two opposing shapes and colors together make the piece more fun. It feels slightly off, but it feels satisfying at the same time. Nice work!
The squiggle is cool!!! Great job. Ever thought about using some kind of wrought iron design or maybe some kind of thick glass that almost looks as if it's invisible or disappears as a leg?
I want to thank everyone for their helpful criticisms and suggestions. I think I'll let the Squiggle sit in the corner for a few months and revisit it then. Hopefully by then I can figure out a more complementary base. Thanks!
I really like that bench. Two contrasting pieces linked together sends a statement of unconventional artistry.
Thanks a lot!
LOVE when people take scraps or short pieces and make wonderful things out of them.
Thank you :)
I watch a ton of woodworking vids. and don't think I've ever seen a bench made like this. It's a brilliant concept / idea, almost a piece of art. Great build and enjoyed watching. thks.
Own it. It looks great. Try not to second guess yourself. This is a piece of who you are. It’s art. It’s you. It’s beautiful!
Thanks Chris!
Wow, the squiggle looks amazing.
Thanks!
Incredible piece of design and work well done.... the fact the leg is blocks I love and I wouldn't change it at all.
Thanks a lot Paul!!
Such a unique piece! The squiggle is super cool
Thanks Tamar!
I admire the level of determination. Epic!
Thanks Paul! It was definitely a labor of love!
That's a wonderful piece of woodwork and you're being too modest with your creation. Understand that each piece could be improved but own that work of art and embrace your creativity a little more
Thank you for the encouragement :)
This is great. I love it when folks aren't afraid to try something new. Very neat project.
Thanks Pete. I think the concept is pretty neat so I'm glad I gave it a shot.

Really interesting concept. Softening those edges with the router totally transformed it.
Thanks James!
Wow! I love it! It's fantastic. What a great design
Thanks! I like your name!
I love artistic concepts! The bench is cool!

Thanks Carl!
It is stunning. Awesome bench. Thank you for sharing. A wonderful talent you have. Thank you 🙏
Thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot! I walk by it every day and still like the block leg, though I still consider changing it every now and again.
Love this experiment -- I think it came out really cool!
Thanks a lot! Now to make one out of GFRC.... ;)
Crazy project. Very nice result.
That is an awesome build, tnx for sharing it with the world!!

I agree. While designing it I wanted to fit as many curves as possible. I didn’t foresee having to do as much sanding to even out mistakes.
Beautiful piece of art
Seriously, what can one say about the Squiggle Bench? I’m speechless! Batman would say something like, “HOLY - MOLY!” ♥️👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Respect for all the sanding!
And personally i think it turned out great!
Thank you Fredrik!
Wow beautiful piece 👍👍👍 the blocks look like scraps piled to hold the bench.

incredible craftsmanship! No way I could come close to that, but I could use your ideas on how to start. Thanks much for sharing with us
Thanks Dave!
What a niche piece of woodworking. Thank you for your efforts Sir, I had a good time watching the video.
This is one of those designs that you absolutely will never forget. I love it. Everything about it. It’s so simple but yet so complex, and the way you presented this make it simple for anyone to do. That base makes the bench “pop” I wouldn’t change it for anything else. Amazing work!
Thanks so much :)
The base works for me. The bench is so bold, the energy it creates g8ves off a very interesting kinetic narrative. It's really cool.
I love the contrast between the two.
Thanks Stephen!

Thanks a lot John!
It would be a nice piece with glass on top for an entryway piece. Again, excellent work.
I liked watching you make this bench but I'm drawn to unique things and love unpainted wood. You will master it through trial and error 😁. Keep up making awesome pieces of art. Thank you.😉👍
That looks absolutely fantastic.
Hats off to you for the sanding, my least favourite job. 👍👍👍
That can be an amazing coffee table too... great job
Thanks Ricardo!
It's amazing! Don't worry about the love it or hate it... It's so unique!
I appreciate it. And I'm not too worried, I've been pleased with all of the helpful suggestions so far.
I am firmly in the "love it" camp! Awesome, funky, & unique design. The base was super cool as well.
Thanks Jonny!
Jonny Builds l
My wife would hate it but I freaking love it. Great work!
That's one cool bench. Wow, what a lot of work, and timber too :) I actually love the contrast between the squiggle and the blocks.
I love the squiggle and the base. It looks like you got a crazy piece of wood and threw some block under to prop it up. I really think it works.
Thanks Derek!
A huge amount of work but a really creative, interesting and unique piece. I really like it!
looks incredible!
Wow !
Congratulations on your work! Wonderful work.
Thank you Rinaldo!
Really clever design! I actually like the “Jenga” leg. Nice contrast!

Thank you Mike!
Wow! Beautiful
Awesome! 👏👏👏 It requires a lot of work but it worths!
Thank you!
This is pretty awesome design. Love the contrasting shape and wood.
super duper cool! well done
I think the base is also so cool. You did a great job man thanks!
Excellent work. This could make for a really cool desk design if scaled up with a piece of glass for the top.
Thanks Brandon!
That was really amazing. A taller version would make an interesting sideboard/entrance table. Lots of possibilities! Thank you for sharing--it's a fantastic design.

squiggly (ha ha)
This is a work of art! Good job.

A bery unique design and it shows again that you are not afraid of work.
Thanks Max!
Man this is not woodworking! It is creating art! Amazing looking piece. I have watched several of your videos and have to say you do some pretty amazing work. Keep up the artistic creations!!!!
Thanks so much Scott!
Amazing 😍, it’s so unique
That looked like a massive amount of work, but man the result was awesome!!
Thanks a lot!
That’s a cool looking bench
This was very entertaining and the end product is nice and interesting
That is crazy cool looking nice work. Do another abstract piece of furniture you're good at it....
Thanks Ronald! I would love to, need to find the time!
Love the design!

Man, that's really cool, and the base is a nice contrast to the flowing lines of the top, good job!
That's just so amazing. Top job with that, very imaginative and inspiring, and I've taken away a few tips and tricks. Thanks for the video.
Thanks a lot!
A piece fit for a museum! Great job!
A unique design, neat work too!
Very good abstract artistry!
Madness wieivel work is in the project! Thumbs up ! Greetings Mr.Handwerk :)
Thanks Mr. Handwerk!
Love it or hate it?... Love it. Great creativity. Keep it up mate.
Thanks Richard!
That is FANTASTIC!
It's different, that's for sure. I like it though!! Making something outside your comfort zone.
Love the Squiggle Bench! What hit me that would make the perfect leg is a spiral. It would continue the wavy thought idea, but in a vertical fashion. Half the width of the bench with about the same twists per foot to keep the continuity to the piece.
i know only little about wood.. but i definitely know that it's an amazing piece of artwork.. well done brother.. 👍🏻
Thanks a lot!!
Love it man, this is awesome. I like that you thought outside the box.
Thank you Jim!
Amazing job! Well done!
Thank you!
I love the base you made. I think it's Unique and individual to you. It doesn't exemplify any style of furniture I've seen yet and that's the goal, to be unique and individual. Beautiful work!!!
Looks brilliant
I really like the contrast between the squiggles and the square leg.
Thanks Dustin!
Very interesting. Well done.
The squiggle is cool!!! Great job. Ever thought about using some kind of wrought iron design or maybe some kind of thick glass that almost looks as if it's invisible or disappears as a leg?
Awesome man! Great channel
Cool table! Very interesting
Thanks Petar!
I want to thank everyone for their helpful criticisms and suggestions. I think I'll let the Squiggle sit in the corner for a few months and revisit it then. Hopefully by then I can figure out a more complementary base. Thanks!
I love the contrast of square randoms for the center base and the curved bench!
How about just a piece of tempered glass for the leg it'll be very sturdy and almost invisible
Cant go wrong with human bones..
*Very Cool job*
Thanks!
Boy, I though I had taken on some tedious projects... then I watched this. Really cool idea!
I think a concrete cone would be really cool either with the point up or down. Very unique. Thanks for sharing...
For different base i mean....
its also a nice desing for a office desk ... litle bit higher and some kind of a glass on top of it ... nice job :)
