Near Disaster on a Steep Mountain Trail. Off Road Recovery Fail?

- We are On the Road Again, this time to recover a Full Size Chevy pickup that had gotten started down a four wheeler trail and couldn't get turned around. It was so steep and rocky it was a project getting him out. We did a lot of rigging and winching and the Warn Winch pulled through on this project as they always do. The Jeep was the perfect tool for the job and barely fit on the trail. Thanks for coming along for the ride and Thanks for Watching. Casey

Did that truck look better when it started up that Fourwheeler trail ? That thing is tore up.
I am not so sure.
Which Warn model is it? and steel cable or fabric rope?...Those other guys rely on Harbor freight winchs from CHINA!!! Time to up date my 90's warn 4000lbs
@@drewfleming7065 Warn XDI 9000i with steel cable. I have several being built right now in the commercial HD version in a 12s and 16k. If your serious about recovery you spend the money on quality! Built in America with a reputation to back them up!
Casey you and your partner did a heck of a job that day, I'm an old man here in the hills of Kentucky and I have pulled a few out that looked as bad or worse than that but they usually involve meth or moonshine, thanks again for another great video keep them coming.
The relief in both of your voices when you finally got back to the "real" trail was very apparent. That looked like a tough one for sure.
Thanks for sharing your recovery with us. Take it easy man, a stay safe out there. 😎
I loved the mule train video! I got the honor to go on the Wyoming Centennial Wagon Train in 1990 from Casper to Cody.. still got the hat pin and jacket from that. The hat pin fits..the jacket..not so much!! 🤣🤣
Our Ancestors didn't know they were setting a trend back in their day, but they were for sure the first off roaders, and with Mule power they had the first 4 hoof drive. And I do like the wagon train specials yall have from time to time. Keep yourselves safe out there. Nuff Said.
Customer: "4-wheeler trail? I've got four wheels!". Good call on carrying that Spot device. That was a "hand me over your truck title" recovery. RIP juniper.
It takes a special kind of person to be that dedicated. It would have so easy to bail on the guy when the going was ugly but that's just not you. Your dedication is something to be proud of.
Great job,Becky and Casey. Thank you.
What can be said , whew!!! great job Becky and Casey ....Wow, that Silverado did not have a straight piece of sheetmetal for Sure. The Cheriokee sure got its share of pinstripes as well. Thanks for sharing and stay safe both of you. .....the wagon train video was absolutely entertaining and educating, thanks again.
That looked like a rescue that provided a tad more excitement than you were hoping for! Well done getting him out of that predicament!
That guy looked like he had quite a lot of trust in you, staying in his car while it wasn't exactly pointing where it was supposed to be.
That Silverado looked like it got quite the beating. Did the underside survive all of that scraping along the edge?
That focused facial expression without a smile shows how much of a challenge this recovery was: Good to see that you're in your element in that kind of situation as well: Someone you can build on!
Great work by your trusty "camerawoman" Becky both for filming and giving your pertinent information about driving backwards around all those obstacles as well! :-)
That "We did it!" sure had a lot of relief in it! :-D
Some more fine work from true professionals, both of you
Thanks Bruce
That was a nice red truck before he took it down a quad trail , sure glad to see you able to get him out without wreaking your own rig . Yes sometimes we have to winch our own rig out then hook them out . Thank
That was one crazy winch job! I bet he stays off those kind of trails from now on!
You got that right!
after he got the bill!!!
He'll have to get another truck to ruin.
@@lornahardin4563 bet he doesn't not smart enough to stay off that one
Phew, glad you got turned around before the sun set on you. Good job on that.
Me too!
Another angel trail recovery scares the bajebers out of one just driving such a road let alone backing out. Good job.
"I've never seen anything like this."
Man that was a tough one. Great job by you and Becky to get that Silverado up out of there.💪

Nice job.. especially with just you winching..love the videos..have a blessed day..
Thanks, you too!
whew! that was a tough one. Great job! Years of experience helped on that one. wowzers
I was set for a grab n go video little did I know what lay in store for me Holy cow what a snuggle of pitfalls to retrieve that full sized chevy1500 4x4 hung up on a 4 wheeler trail with no room to let two goats pass each other let alone the cherriokee and a full sized 4x4 pickup excellent work Casey
Great job rigging the winch , beckys a trooper👍🇺🇸
Yup, that was a lot of work! Backing up hill on a (almost) trail is darn tricky. Especially with all the trees and brush you had to dodge. NICE JOB!! You came through fine though just like always!! I wonder if he will install a winch on his pickup now? LOL!!
Handled with minimal drama, nice work!
Wow I didn’t know I could hold my breath that long. I hope the next ride is a lot easier 👍👍
Unbelievable!! What was he even thinking?! 🤦🏼♂️ you and Becky were amazing. The 2-stroke Chereokee took a real beating today! Holy cow!!!
Great video! As a Colorado 4×4 person, when we have had to do this type of recovery on a vehicle, we have had no less than 2 vehicles for this type of recovery tow. Three vehicles are ideal. But you did it!
I would have loved another winch, or at least remembered to grab the receiver winch off the trailer! DOH
Casey only needed a couple of mules but they were busy. The yellow team would have used 4 or 5 vehicles and a crew of 10.
@@EMA-uk5ob Yeah, and the "yellow team" would have done it with less vehicle damage, less tree killing and way less drama!!
@@jerrya2801 i doubt it.
Man you did the impossible what a job nobody could’ve did that but you determination great recovery unbelievable
Getting it done!
One awesome recovery Casey and Becky, you two make a great recovery team. One more comment, that guy did have a nice pickup, not anymore.
Narrow trails and trees, kind of like my world of off-road recovery. Not a fail, you got him out, good job Casey.
It was pretty tight working quarters. May have even pinned striped the Jeep a bit.. All in a days work. Hey no mud or soup holes like your always dealing with. Give me a hollar when you get out here for trail hero. Shoot me and email I will get ya my cell. hello@caseysoffroadrecovery.com
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery True, tight trails, trees, and mud is the trifecta. the wrecker has years of pin stripping, it will look out of place with all of those clean south western vehicles when we are out there for Trail Hero.
I enjoy all the videos you put out and greatly appreciate the time you take to do it
All I can say is WOW! Great work and using your head.
Nothing better than backing up a narrow path with stumps and downed tree limbs poking up everywhere. 😂 I was just waiting to hear those tires go “whisssshhhhhh”. That’d be my luck to get three out of four popped tires.
It was a bit of a mess!
Yeah, we've rolled up on a few of those and were left scratching our heads how they got there. That truck was pretty beat. Nice single-vehicle recovery in a very tough situation. You definitely earned your Mountain Dew that day. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
I know exactly how you felt when you realized the mess you got yourself in and I also know exactly how you felt when you made it out!!!! It was quite a challenge, Great Job Brother!!!!!
Casey, is there a FUBAR surcharge for that type of recovery?
Looks like you used everything but the kitchen sink.
That Silverado won't ever see the inside of a body shop.
People that stupid should definitely pay extra
Oh my the damage to that truck!!! The toolbox was even sideways!!! Crazy, good job
Drove it like he stole it...
@@trevin1691 lol, he did in fact!!!
Another great job on a very difficult situation!
This was your best video yet! It had everything including your Jeep doing skateboarding tricks. Kids: pay attention in math class, especially vector diagrams. Casey put vectors to good use on this recovery.
What an awesome video. What a mess. I hope you charged that guy an arm and a leg to get him out. Just can't believe how stupid that was to take a truck on that trail.
WOW!!!!
You have a good partner Casey. You're a fortunate man. 👍👍😁
I agree
Perseverance pays off!
Couple of scary moments there but another success I think Becky's anxiety was a bit higher than yours though, lol.
I would agree!
Least you didn’t have to worry ‘bout his paint-job… good work Casey & crew … love this channel ❤️👍🏻🇷🇴🇬🇧
I love the 50 inch trails, IN MY 50inch RZR. Can't imagine why someone would try and take full size truck on one. The results you saw on his truck are what you would expect. Many of the ATV trails in that area are quite a challenge with vehicles designed and modified for that sort of stuff, and even then, winches, spotters, chainsaws etc. are often required on some of the lesser used ones. Great job in getting both him, and yourselves out of there. Hope this guy knows that taking larger vehicles on the 50 inch trails can lead to closure for all. It's highly frowned upon.
I don't expect that feller knows much of anything, and he could care less if trails get closed.
I agree with you, but, he don't care.
Hi Casey, I've got a portable winch, it's a warn 18K industrial on a receiver mount with extra holes on it. In a tricky pull like this I can put the wind where I want it and have someone else carry the 12V power pack. Thats on top of the front and rear mounted winches, I can always get a good angle with that setup.
#1 I could tell that the Chevy had seen better days or that he tore it up coming up the hill. That wasn't an easy one Casey. Thanks to Becky the camera person.
That was definitely a bad spot. You got some new pinstripes and and he got a big tow bill and some nasty body damage
Watching the rear axle sliding off more made me go walk away... Skeeered just watchin! Love those pretty continuous slings👍 Paint them Mckissic blocks up in bikini pink... they get hard to find ... Casey you truly are the one man army! What a REAL show! 👍🙏🏻❤️✌️
O'my brother... Quite the mess he got himself into... You all definitely earned your living on that one. I'd hate to see that guy's repair bill cus even if he does it himself, there's a lot of stuff going to need fixing... Might just want to make it an Ol'farm truck after that & keep it in the fields...
Awesome recovery. You made the best possible use of every resource you had available. Professional as can be.
Thank you!
What a great recovery. Good thing you had Becky along to guide you. That is one way to destroy a perfectly good truck, going down a Closed 4 Wheel Trail in a full sized pickup. Wonder if his insurance co. going to pay when they find out where he was?
What insurance?
Welcome to my world, forest. We use snowmobile trails in the summer so a lot of "forest pinstripes" happen and a lot of reversing trying to find a spot to turn around. Well done.
Remindes me of the motor home only way worse. If not for making a living, dedication and a good old challenge I'd bet your heart was saying no don't do it 😂
Good job on getting both rigs out of that mess. Thanks for the content you guys put out. Should have brang the mules instead of the Jeep.
Stay safe healthy and happy 👍
Doing a recovery AND widening the trail with your bumper, all in a days work.
Finished watching it now, tough gig that one! I felt anxious watching it, and I suspect that was MUCH steeper than the camera suggested! Nice one.
That was a hanging on the edge of my seat video for sure. Edge of the trail literally also. Tight, no room to maneuver, loose rocky, steep, limited options to anchor. That showed why a winch is essential in remote places. I don't think there are too many people who could've pulled that recovery off. Good job!
His truck was a mess and that was a crazy drive out. Thanks for the show !
Hey brother lol I really wish the videos was way longer I would watch all of it. Thanks for sharing brother
Man, what an insane recovery! You really went above and beyond to save that Silverado…well done, Casey.
I think Becky was the 'good luck charm!' Keep up with your interesting and creative good deeds.
Love the arm shadow out the window to get the trailer shot!
Custom built adjustable camera arm mount.
Oh my! That was scary amazing! I hope all that damage to his truck wasn't from this one time out!? People get themselves in some crazy stuck places don't they? Great work from both of you! Great scenery too!
I don't know, that mirror looked pretty fresh.
Truck was probably a rental!
That truck shoulda never been on that trail. I don't understand why someone would abuse their truck that way! you and Becky did a great but difficult job of getting him out!!
Stolen!
In North Carolina we call that a "Here, Hold my beer" moment.
Great work & your wagon train show was tops! Thanks again
What a Mess. The guy in the red truck called the right guy, Casey and his Wife did a Fantastic job getting the red truck outta there !! Great job Casey and Becky..
Well Casey I think this is the first time I've seen you with the "what the heck am I doing here?" presentation.
Well you did a great job and you've got a great navigator, camera swinger and all round great gal there who seems able to handle just about anything.
Anyway It looks like you need some help. Maybe I ought to come out your way and work a few months. That looks just like my kind of job.
13:35 The Gremllin's scream in anguish as despite thier best efforts ! Casey Prevails !!! :-)
Ah, the six down thumbs being said Gremlins :-)
Another fun one showing skill.
Learning to like your stuff. Yeah! This was a doozy and the mule train was awesome. Makes connection to my dad. He was a teamster (animal not motor).
Were not off road junkies. Were trolls on you tube because we cant off road all day!!!!!!!!!! Great video!
Casey that was an adventure! Nice recovery. Great you had all the gear you needed along too. And the lady's great support too.
WOW! That my man was a hell of a recovery. You and Becky are a great team. You have been blessed with her. I love the wagon train video. Makes me think of my family that settled in Montrose, Co. 👍
Awesome to see another vid Casey that was a technical one did very well to get a cherokee to pull that big truck out all in a day's work. Though and you did it with a smile. Hope you and the family is well
Thanks Terry
What glorious country!
SUCCESS! Great Job on overcoming the "MANY" obstacles in your way! Thanks for the Video!
Ms. Becky has earned a new outdoors patch…..backwards navigation 2.0! And she wasn’t even in the back seat…🤣🤣🤣
Nice recovery on this one, just like always.
On a serious note….who has to pay for the tree!!!😬😬
Great teamwork!!!!!! Luv video 👍👍👍👍👍
One man wrecking crew!!!
The only thing to say about this situation is . Your a great person Casey.
Nice work. I can't believe how trashed his truck was. Glad you weren't alone
You and me both!
Sensational Casey and Becky! Man, that was genuinely intense and at the point the tree was pulled out, I was half expecting the Silverado to disappear backwards off the side! Thanks for sharing the adventure and catch you on the next one.
Funny we are vacationing in the area & are staying right down the street. Hope you are having a good Saturday. Tried to drive up Toquerville Rd this morning, my wife got mad & we turned around. Probably better since we got rain. Good day to you sir.
Sorry it was Kolob Rd
Enjoy your stay. We are giving carriage rides in La Verkin this evening. Call me you can catch a ride.
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery Love too. Called your office & left my phone number. Very nice young man said he would pass it on.
Thanks for coming by and catching a ride with us. It was a good time!
Holy crap! That truck got THRASHED!!!!!
I can see where something like a Cat D3 or up would be a life saver on some of these awful jobs. Glad it wasn't me trying to rescue him. It would be in the canyon for sure. Congrats on the recovery.
Outstanding Job Casey ...
Bloody hell! How do some folks get them into such a mess?? Kudos to you for manoeuvring up that mess. I can’t imagine what the tow bill for something like this would be!!
Well done Casey that definitely took some creativity on getting him back on the trail.
Seems the hard part was backing out of there before you could turn around.
You and Becky make a great team
Well done Casey & Becky that was some adventure! Glad it was you guys and not me.
Probably the hardest combo of conditions I‘be seen you pull through. Nice work.
Maybe a bigger winch?? Looked like that little winch was really getting a work out Great job of rigging and getting the best snatch block possible.
Check out the community page. The pic of the new winch is up!
I was on the edge of my seat for so long I had to get up and walk around to get the circulation moving again.
That was a helluva recovery, well done.
That was a pretty mean one !
I was grabbing my chair harder and harder on the way up hehe ...
Thanks for the video !
Everyone needs a bit of a challenge every now and then. Great recovery. It’s always a relief once your on the train heading out
That is for sure!
I was pinching a hole in my seat watching this!!
Being in Christmas Valley if I get my jeep stuck I know who to call. Good to know
It's great to see a recovery team that will go "where no man has gone before". I probably would have pushed the Chevy over the side called the police and told them my truck has been stolen.
You need to start putting the pucker factor in your video titles. This was right up there for me just watching. At what point going up a trail like that do you begin to question your life choices? That old boys pick-up will never be the same, plus who knows how far his parts are strung out on that mountain.
Wow crazy recover guys!
