The man is a creative genius tbh. Its amazing how well-thought out every detail in his books truly is. He borrowed a lot from real life history, but it still takes talent to craft a unique fantasy world for the character's to inhabit and weave the story in such a seamless fashion, so well done to him. Phenomenal writing.

It should also be mentioned, although this is likely retroactive "gardening" by our George, this most legendary Stark badass who rolled up to King's Landing, told everyone what to do and taught everyone about honour was definitely the internal reason for Ned's confidence in his brazen plan.

Of course, no one's unironically saying that they for sure _are_ gay, and indeed, it's unlikely (Not that likelihood is necessarily that important in fiction) that they are gay, but if there's no confirmation either way, there's no reason to be so defensive.
More to the point, though, I was primarily responding to agm5425's argument of "Why can't bros just be bros?" and pointing out how ridiculous it is. Bros are almost always portrayed as just bros, and trying to act like they're the exception rather than the rule (Especially when talking about male homosexuality, which is underrepresented even compared to female homosexuality) is patently absurd.
Gay people exist. Romance between two men can exist. Interpreting the close bond between two male characters as having romantic undertones is a valid interpretation, and if that interpretation is later shown to be correct, it's not inherently "pandering" or "forced".

@CABRALFAN27 Laenor is literally a gay character represented in the show and books. Cregan is in love with Alyssa Blackwood and making him gay would be pushing a narrative because it would change the whole story. As he literally spares Corly's life because of Alyssa agrees to marry him. So it's literally confirmed there that he's not gay.

The writers and the showrunner are going around screaming it at the top of rooftops... but I agree - I wouldn't say that this show is book-accurate in a lot of ways. Changing Alicent's age is already an incidiction of deviating from the book, so Cregan's storyline might also be another deviation... but we'll see if it's a good one. 😓

Yeah but that would take away from the whole concept of the North being a huge, vast kingdom with an army that takes months to actually gather. In A Game of Thrones (the book), Robb takes months to gather his army before he marches south... and even then his army is still not in full strength. There are still men coming to Winterfell by the time that he gets to Moat Caitlin, and Bran even marvels at the bright banners and shaggy men pouring into the castle yard.

Or, he sat on his hands and stayed North of the neck for as long as possible. He then came South and (figuring the warring was over) tried to dictate terms in the capital.
Secured fiefdoms and positions of status for all the baseborn lads and second sons who came with him. Leveraged the life of Lord Corlys to secure a noble southern bride. Fucked off when it became evident he couldn’t squeeze anything more out of the gig.
Didn’t do a single thing for Rhaenyra whilst she was alive? Needed convincing to uphold House Stark’s vow to defend her claim? Traitor in my opinion. Perhaps even a secret Green.

He's neither traitor no secret green. Just your average politician hedging his bets
Cregan was right not to rush his men south especially when that maniac Aemond was burning down Blacks left and right in the Riverlands.
Cregan as a Lord had a duty to protect his people and none of that involved rushing south to get his men bathed by dragonflame because one inbred depraved incompetent idiot was fighting another inbred depraved incompetent idiot over a fancy chair.
It was politic to let the morons weaken one another before making his move
I mean these people had power, wealth and dragons and all they had to do to preserve it was not to fuck things up.
Instead they fucked things up and crippled their house for generations after.

Not a traitor, the Starks are not oathbreakers (generally), but he is cunning and opportunistic. Just because Ned was “noble” to a fault (which lead to his death) and Robb seemed a pretty decent fellow, don’t assume all their forebears were beyond a bit of scheming.
Brandon (Ned’s older brother) was parading around the North sticking it to any bit of quim that succumbed to his charms whilst he was betrothed to Catelyn Tully (that’s oath-breaking) and - evidently - Ned had a dalliance with somebody (perhaps Ashara Dayne) and/or hid a Targaryen with a decent claim to the throne from his King and best friend, so that’s another example of betrayal.
Those books (the Rogue Prince and the Princess and the Queen) aren’t told from the third-person limited perspective, they are spun by the author and his sources (most of whom were Maesters, batting for the Green faction). Read beyond the text, analyse what is purported to be established fact or maybe just watch a few Preston Jacobs videos (dealing with Fire and Blood). ✌🏻

The Targaryens did a good job in making it clear that they were the only ones in charge in Westeros.
