They don’t want Rhaenyra or Alicent to be unlike because they misunderstand a core thing about ASOIAF. Most characters we like despite them all for like 2-3 being relatively flawed or horrible. Stannis is unlikable & murdered his brother Renly. He allows men to be burned alive. He is utterly stubborn to point of insanity & toxicity. Yet we love him because we see how he always in Robert shadow the elder brother, the bigger, stronger, funnier & charismatic man. We hear how he actually wants justice in a world where justice isn’t given. He chopped off Davos fingers for smuggling which saved his life but also gave the man lands & title. Cersei is a complete & utter psychopath who needs to die but she a delight in her utter narcissism that it compelling. Jaime is having relations with his sister, threw a child off a tower, murdered his king, & ordered Ned Stark men killed out of spite. But most loved character in books & his speech with Cat makes you rethink things. What would MOST men do with these oaths? Protect the innocent but not if the king kills them. Protect women but not from the king. Honor your father even if he the king enemy. He points out nobody gave a flying crap about Targs for centuries. He points out what would you be willing to do if your family life was in danger. If Bran lived his entire family would’ve died. Tywin has diehard fans despite knowing how brutal of a man he is & cruel he was to his Tyrion. Because you hear how his dad was incompetent but genuine good man & a young Tywin had the burdened of his family future & came to a conclusion it better to be feared & a monster than be loved. It frustrated me because Rhaenyra & Alicent have lost the teeth. Daemon I just think they don’t know what to do. They really just make him impulsive cold power-hungry man-child. When reality he was those things but he also loved his family & actually if you reread Fire & Blood from his POV he still a cold child murder who desire power but he never actually seized Dragonstone & tried to give Mysaria who was pregnant a dragon egg for his child. He hated his wife but he actually didn’t murder her & actually was entitled by lands of Runestone as her husband. It suggested he married Laena to get back some power but by all accounts they got on very well & enjoyed dragon riding with her & Rhaenyra. From his POV Zhe actually was robbed by Viserys as Prince of Dragonstone & years without being named the heir probably made him feel unloved by his brother. Rhaenyra 75% chance she had Laenor killed with Daemon. She was also probably very arrogant considering she was comfortable having 3 bastards by her sworn sword openly knowing that she wouldn’t have to deal with consequences. However rereading Fire & Blood you see her lose child after child until basically only 1 left in her mind. She constantly betrayed by people. Her kin, Hugh Hammer & Ulf. So you understand & feel bad. You can understand how she knows if her kids are ever acknowledged to be bastards they will be killed. Alicent you understand why she fearful for her children because she understands how the game is played & that Aegon or Rhaenyra must kill each other one day. You understand how she feels frustrated bastards will sit the throne over her kids. But you also see how she pretty shamelessly wants power with herself & along with Ser Criston commit a blatant coup against her late husband wishes & they murder. Black & greens are supposed to be unlikable & rootable. With both horrible monarches who you feel sympathy for. It feels like blacks are good guys with Rhaenyra with Daemon being the unhelpful devil on her shoulders. Greens like Ser Criston lose any semblance of sympathy. Alicent by making her sympathetic loses so much ageny & you just question her intelligence. Aegon I actually enjoy portrayal but I hate how they didn’t show his relationship with Ser Criston & how Ser Criston was a father to him & convinced him to reluctantly take the crown when he probably thought he didn’t deserve it because his father loved his sister more. My rant is done.

Thank you for watching. Like I say in the video: Maelor seems like a small and insignificant character, but actually he's the catalyst for many important future events. A long video is fitting for explaining his significant role in the Dance. 💚💯
Without Maelor, Aemond becomes the heir. This creates an entirely new power dynamic in the Green family we don't see in the books. I don't think the writers thought of that.
In Fire & Blood it already implied he was already ambitious he took over for the green faction & ruled as Prince Regent after Rook Rest disfigured Aegon he was either in pain or blinded by milk of the poppy so Aemond ruled as Prince Regent & it said he acted like he was the king & was getting drunk on power despite his nephew still being alive.

@mekareactsandreviews3026 it's not that we can't grasp it. It's bad writing. Your characters must have agency. Your characters have to DO things. Take action. Make decisions. If the plot keeps moving forward on the basis of accidents, mix ups, coincidences and misunderstandings, its bad writing that is writing 101. There's no tension any more. I'll give you an example of good writing: Joffery. Joffery is an evil little bastard. Every time he appears you're on tenterhooks because you wonder what cruel, sadistic thing he is going to DECIDE to do next. If every time Joffery did something terrible it was because his orders were misheard, or it was a complete accident on his part, pretty soon you would start to roll your eyes. The one exception to this is comedy, where the escalating absurdity is played for laughs. Having characters simply be at the mercy of a universe with a sense of humour can be very funny. But HOTD isn't a comedy, and this creates narrative dissonance.
