I think a big reason is because it feels like it goes back to the root of the saiyans like the great ape honestly this feels closer to what a super saiyan god would look like
And is unique looks nothing like the other super saiyan forms but you can tell it’s still dragon ball
That's honestly one of the best things about Super Saiyan God. It subverts the traditional Super Saiyan expectation of bigger muscles, spikier, wilder hair and more intense eyes, and gives Goku a softer, younger, slimmer look with his hair less spiky than even regular Super Saiyan.

GT suppose to be a 40 episode series to begin with. Just a way to give some fans more. But Toei wanted to keep their timeslots until the Dr. Slumb remake was finishes, so they made 2 more arcs. That explains why the Super 17 arc is so short. If GT had to rush to the ending, they would rush the ending and not the early parts.

A strongly underrated aspect of GT was its design overall. With SSJ4, it blends in nicely with the colors and palette. The form even reminds you of the letters in the GT logo. Even as a kid in the 90’s seeing GT on the street in those VHS carts and shops that used to play the movies on their TVs, seeing Kid Goku in a BLUE GI yet as a SSJ was so surreal. Fans today get everything the same time as Japan which is great, but back in day when GT was still in Japan and just considered school yard legends here, it was just a different time with so much mystery.
I did not notice the GT logo and SSJ4 colors matching, nice catch! And that’s so nostalgic to think about the VHS carts way back then, such a blast from the past :’))

W vid this been my fav form of goku since I was a kid for multiple reasons, including ones mentioned in the vid. The shi just be so swaggy with the red fur (happens to be my fav color), the long black hair chillin on the shoulders and ofc the eyeliner hard asf. The personality change of being so calm yet confident, almost cocky, adds to the look and actual aura of Goku for me too. GT of all dragon balls was one of the first anime Ive ever seen and this form was the first super saiyan transformation I seen so it holds a lot of nostalgia for me that I ain’t get to express much so thank you for this vid and it’s opportunity for that. TLDR this form goated fr.

Super Saiyan 4 was like finding the right resonant frequency one octave higher. Going from base form through Super Saiyan 1, 2, and 3 increased the pitch of the art design and it all came home with 4. This is the truest form of the race that terrified Frieza, that was better than Perfect Cell, and it harkens back to the mythical story of the Journey to the West and the Monkey King.

You know what's cool and scary at the same time about Super Saiyan 4? In GT Perfect files, SSJ4 was stated to take a saiyan's power to their potential. There is no multiplier, just potential. And Goku absorbed power from his fellow saiyan warriors(Gohan, Goten, Trunks and Pan) twice and became Super Full Power Saiyan 4 and then Ultra Super Full Power Saiyan 4, it came across as not only Goku became stronger, but the form itself, meaning that the transformation granted the Goku more power then when he had first achieved it. And Vegeta achieved it as well and despite only just getting it and not being granted power from his fellow saiyans, he was still evenly matched with Goku! Based on the GT Perfect Files's information and how Super Saiyan 4 was utilized in GT, it's almost portrayed as the Saiyan equivalent to the Ultimate Form from Elder Kai!
Edit: heck when Trunks even stated in the Shadow Dragon Saga about SSJ4 Goku’s power

@ yeah plus, the Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultra God Mission manga(an official Dragon Ball story mind you), provides a scaling of how strong Super Saiyan 4 can become. After defeating Demigra, CC Goku and Goku Xeno have one final fight to settle their score. They both start off in base and are shown to be equal in power. Then they start going through their common forms; Super Saiyan 1, 2 and 3, and they’re still shown to be equal. When they used their unique forms is when things started to get interesting. CC Goku turns Super Saiyan God during a Kamehameha beam clash, and which Goku Xeno responds by turning Super Saiyan 4. After that CC Goku turns Super Saiyan Blue and lands a kick to SSJ4 Goku’s facing, only for Goku Xeno return the favor with an equally strong hook to CC Goku’s face, and they’re still going toe to toe with each other. Then they hit their strongest forms; Xeno goes Super Full Power Saiyan: Limits Broken and CC turns Ultra Instinct(Sign) and once again they’re still even. It’s when CC uses Silver Ultra Instinct that he managed to beat Goku Xeno. This showed that Super Saiyan 4, along with its variants such as Full Power and Limits Broken are able to rival the God Forms.
Facts
I feel like Super Saiyan 4 and Ultra Instinct/Super Saiyan God represents two sides of dragonball. Original dragonball with the mysteries and adventures and the fighting/training portion of dragon ball.
I always felt like super saiyan god and ultra instinct was built on top of the building blocks of Master Roshi's training, and Goku's speech to Gohan during their training in the Hyperbolic time chamber. While SSG and UI were indeed strong their main focus was on efficiency, use of ki, and speed, as Goku said "What good is power if you can't even catch your opponent", which is why I particularly liked the manga's adaptation of the lead up to Ultra Instinct as Goku connects the dots of Whis's training back to Korrin, Kami, King Kai, and even back to Master Roshi himself, so much so that Roshi made Beerus some what believe he achieved Ultra Instinct. It was built upon the back bone of Original Dragonball and very much a large part of DBZ.
SSJ4 on the other hand definitely felt primal and something akin to Goku's Great Ape transformation all the way back in Pilaf's arc, an answered mystery. Which is why I'm not too concerned as to whether people prefer SSJ4 or Ultra Instinct, they're both good transformations but they answer fundamentally different questions and beliefs, it's not a question of "which one is stronger" it's more of a question of what side of Dragon Ball do you prefer, do you prefer the more adventury and lore driven side of Dragon Ball (SSJ4), or do you prefer the work hard and heavy martial artist/fighting/philosophy aspect of dragon ball (Ultra Instinct/Ultra Ego). Neither is objectively better, but they're both good.

Though some fans want SS4 or a variant for Goku and Vegeta in DBS, I think that would take away something, DBS’s identity. Though some say they wanted 4 there, others likely would have hated the idea because they would view it as something unoriginal that some fans have done for decades. I do like SS4’s design and I don’t mind it returning in different DB titles, but for DBS in particular, Goku and Vegeta are going down their own paths to power and a form they could both use could discard that interesting concept. Broly seems the most fitting for such a form since Ikari seems to be a DBS styled reference to SS4, so as long as DBS still does its own thing, I’ll stay a fan of it. GT or DBS fan, I hope my perspective is in an interesting and understandable one.
