    • @InWeCome
      @InWeCome 2 года назад +16

      Research suggests everyone can use extra D3, even up to 50 times the daily amount. And it has a slew of potential health benefits. Makes sense because our bodies were evolved in sunny climates, we spent all day outside with few if any clothing.

    • @adityaiyli8982
      @adityaiyli8982 2 года назад +3

      In reality very little Vitamin D is obtained through the sun and skin. Most of your daily vitamin d is dietary and is through your food.

    • @snowflakehunter
      @snowflakehunter Год назад +6

      This is not vitamin D. It is D3, totally different. Vitamin D helps with calcium and phosphorus retention whereas vitamin D3 helps your body absorb the energy from the food being digested. Makes perfect sense in this case as long as you do not take too much.

    I always love seeing international MREs. My dad was in the army for 20 years and one of the first things he did when going to a new country was trade MREs with the local soldiers. They were just as excited and curious as he was. It seems to be one of those universal, human things we all share. I find that comforting.

    The Dutch army uses two types of rations - a regular ration and an arctic ration for cold-weather operations. The packaging for the regular ration is made out of cardboard while the arctic ration is packaged in a plastic pouch. The arctic ration contains freeze dried meals and porridge for breakfast and has a higher level of calories. The Dutch Army also has an emergency ration but these are only supplied in time of war. They contain dry blocks similar to the Datrex or Mainstay survival bars.

    As someone who lives in the Netherlands, its p interesting to see how some of this stuff is actually pretty similar to things you could buy in the stores here. Like the biscuits, the tomato soup and beef broth especially is familiar enough I could name brands that look like it haha. Also not surprising the spicy sauce wasn't very hot! We really don't eat or are used to spicy food at all. It's fun to see how you really can tell this is made for the stereotypical Dutch palette

      @@LifeOfNigh And that's yet another reason not to be in favor of forcing everyone to go vegan, and to leave that as a personal choice. As if the fact that various disabilities can make veganism impossible for some folks wasn't reason enough (and sometimes it's down to the way a specific person's disability manifests and not a universal trait). Because if you have to kill animals for a good reason, universal veganism would just mean all of those animals end up in the trash and contribute to the landfills, when some could have otherwise been eaten and provided food.

But you said just pork chops and chicken and I’ve been to many restaurants in different states and invited to friends or families homes and there’s no apricot jam in their main dishes, not even on pork chops or used for glaze on chicken. Maybe it depends where you live. Some people don’t like the taste of apricots or apricot jam. Don’t be surprised when someone hasn’t tasted it before, to each their own. May I recommend: if you ever travel in the South of France (not necessarily Provence) look for apricots. I ate an apricot purchased from a stand near Le Gouffre. It was as big as my fist. When I bit into it, the juices ran down my arm. Apricots are next level peaches, if you can find good ones.👍🏻💯🤗💋I have never found a decent apricot stateside…I believe they exist-most likely in your region. Please, do some research. A good fresh apricot is like nothing else. I learned that as a true surprise.

    "it's not spicy, kind of like a curry..". As a born and raised (smalltown) Dutchie, I can tell you most of us are not at all accustomed to spicy food. We mostly(/originally) grew up with boiled and/or steamed potatoes, veggies, some meat and a light gravy as a weekday meal. I never had anything spicy growing up. The first time I used a seasoning like chilli flakes was when I was already in my 20s 🙈

My guess this one has to be 4000+ cal. Great for Arctic heavy combat, and enough for a few people in a low activity survival situation.

If you would be willing to do a video using a piped recipe and comparing to the rolled techniques I think it would be very informative about how different recipes for the same dish can be. Between the generally high caloric count of 24 hr military ration packs (since they pack enough for someone who is being extremely active while potentially carrying lots of heavy stuff) and the fact that when it's cold you need way more calories to do the same level of activity, you are definitely set up for an absolute feast for the average person
