@Bryan It kinda depends though. Turkish cuisine varies a heck ton a lot, I had never seen such variety in cuisine outside of Turkey. Cuisine of Mediterranean coasts tend to be similar to other Mediterranean food but it's usually, more fish/vegetable oriented than like meat etc. Some foods that are so popular among other Mediterraneans like falafel tend to be non-existent. Mediterranean coasts usually pair food with Rakı, a traditional Turkish alcoholic beverage. The Black Sea region offers fish just like Mediterranean Region but while Mediterranean coasts usually serve the fish as pickled or semi-raw and combined with other seafoods like octopus, The Black Sea usually fries the fish. It also frequently features butter, tea and hazelnuts! Maybe it's because BSR is very forest-ey, cold and rainy. Cuisine of Southern/Southeastern Turkey is usually heavy on meat. It's usually very, very spicy. Don't eat SE Turkish food too much or else you will die because of a heart attack or sodium overload lol, but it's pretty delicious. Western Turkey is usually known for the royal food of the Ottoman Era! To be honest, the Turkish royal food is unlike anything I encountered, it's literally a world on its own. Eccentric food like slow cooked meat with honey and almonds or a desert made out of chicken breast can be seen in it. It sounds very... weird, I know but trust me it tastes great, lol. I guess SE Turkish food can be considered as close to Lebanese food but I think Lebanese cuisine and other Turkish cuisines are like from different worlds.
EmoPeacock There is a Turkish restaurant near me and it’s delicious. It’s a very small restaurant but there’s never anyone in there whenever I go. My dad and I used to go every single weekend (before I started working weekends) for a delicious brunch, and it’s literally just the two of us in the whole place. We tell everyone about this restaurant because we don’t want it to close. It’s sooooo good! I really hope they can stay in business.
I love it when you get MREs and the food actually looks like something a person can enjoy eating. The Turkish Government don't really leave you wanting for anything with this MRE and recognize that food/the rituals surrounding it are a source of joy for people, and I think that attention to detail is really nice. The fun sensory experiences of mealtimes are still preserved (like with the coffee filter, or the inclusion of soup to eat with your entree), and the flavors and textures are interesting, and they give you big portions so you aren't left still hungry. The details are really important to people, and joy and normalcy are everything in emergency or combat situations, and it's nice to see a country that recognizes that and works to include these little details that make it a lot more pleasant.
@@jamestheotherone742 Welp, they can enjoy themselves too, though I don't understand why people don't cook for themselves when they go glamping, if they have the ability to. Thanks for the clarification!

Love when you do MRE videos. And never worry about doing anything wrong. Food and eating is subjective to you liking... You are the first channel I subbed to about 4 years ago. Absolutely amazing and genuine content!!!!!!
Only Emmy can make reviewing a piece of gum riveting! 😊
you need to try yoghurt soup completely home made - IT IS SO GOOD!
Yes it is.
The tortillas in there are much smaller than we know here. Rather than that , the meals are pretty much the same as we have in daily life. Thank you for representing Turkey once again and keep up the good work!
Hey Emmy I really enjoyed to watch this! ! I love how you were so innovative and chose to spread Acuka on the Lavash with the dried cheese. You can't make anything wrong when it comes to Turkish food you can mix/match anything however you want it, you did great :) Thank you for this enjoyable video!
How would you normally eat it though? And would that be considered an average breakfast?
@@chaoticinflation5766 By itself usually, but many of the times I eat it with combination with olives and cheese etc. Didn't know it was considered as innovative lol
From a barista stand point, that was impressive. It’s basically a to-go pour over method of brewing. Super popular in speciality coffee shops. I am impressed.
I love getting freeze dried Peach slices and strawberries and adding them to a cup of hot tea they are so wonderful. Sometimes I will throw them into my iced tea and it's such a refreshing sweetener for either hot or iced tea.
That's clever!
I watched a K-drama called I Hear Your Voice and the main character had a tea filter just like that coffee. She had a glass of ice and fitted the filter over the glass and, just like Emmy, poured hot water over the tea filter. Ta-da iced tea.
Emmy, you so should have put some of the freeze dried cheese in the soups. Also, I hope to see you mix the ingredients from each MRE to make each entree better!!! Keep being awesome!!!
It blows my mind we actually have live translation devices now, we can just look through a magic lens at any text and read it. My inner sci fi nerd gets excited by it every time I see it!
I actually DID know that about tortillas in space! My favorite book of all time is Packing For Mars: The Curious Science of Life in the Void by Mary Roach. The chapter about space food is one of the best things I've ever read just based on how happy it makes me.
Loved that book!!
Walmart study has shown that the most popular food item sold during natural disasters is POPTARTS !!
What? Not vienna sausages!!!
@@Birdbike719 There are a lot of children in this country. Parents buy what the kids want.Adults like POPTARTS too plus the foil packaging looks like disaster (MRE) food.
The most popular Walmart food is pop tarts, other stores not so much.
Wayne Hasch Yuck, I hate pop tarts.
When we were hit by hurricane Michael we could get packs of water but not soda or juice boxes. Kinda odd.
I love your MRE vids! That looked good to me plus that adorable little coffee filter setup. Fabulous! Strange to have very runny soup but very thick hot chocolate lol. Thanks Emmy🇹🇷💜🤘🇺🇸
Yay, love that you're representing us Turks! ❤️🇹🇷
I clicked on this one so fast! I feel like Turkish cuisine in general gets very little love.
@@EmoPeacock Totally, people are missing out!
@@overworkedcna412 where are you from ?
This is not a Turkish military or civil emergency ration. But a commercial product for "glampers".
@@jamestheotherone742 Welp, they can enjoy themselves too, though I don't understand why people don't cook for themselves when they go glamping, if they have the ability to. Thanks for the clarification!
8:58 Turkish here 🙋 you can't really go wrong with the food combinations here, it's even possible that the weirdest food item&combo you can imagine is probably liked by some Turks already. I even have a friend who likes to put cheese in her Nutella sandwich 😂

@Bryan thanks my friend :)
@Bryan no love (turkish king) ABD iş end :D
I think this is probably the best MRE I have seen on your channel
Sweety, I'm from Turkey and it's not how we roll our lavashes (tortillas). We actually roll it all the way into a cylinder shape. And I'm kinda surprized bc here in Turkey we got em a little bigger in size than the one's they sent you. But apart from that I liked the video. LOVE you & your channel!!
I'm Algerian but I was born and raised in France where's there's a lot of Turkish people and I have to say for that they for sure have the best coffee EVER!!! And their food is just delicious 😋
Your mre tastings are my favorite, Emmy! And I agree, that coffee filter was brilliant.
I shouldn’t be watching her videos late at night when I’m starving 😂
Same 😭
This is currently the only video on RUclips that isn't about James Charles and Tati.
Who? I watch a ton of stuff on YT and have never heard those two names in my life.
Please don't make such ridiculous blanket statements. I know you are being hyperbolic, but it still never looks good for the person doing it.

love love LOVEEEEE MRE videos !!
Honestly, I prefer Steve1989MREInfo for MRE vids. What Emmy brings to the table that no one else does is those horrifying 50s recipes and great depression foods.
❤️❤️❤️
Wow I am 3 years late to this video but as a Turkish I must say some of these items are not very common in Turkey. For example, I have never tried dried cheese in my life. Again, the freeze dried fruits are not as common as the other items. We eat acuka at breakfast and it is a wonderful spread on any kind of bread. And I believe that dried cheese and acuka were never intended to be eaten together on a tortilla but what a creative way to discover I must say :) Love you Emmy, thx for great videos
Those freeze dried fruits sounded crunchy. When you said they are not as crunchy as they should be, I was surprised. The thought of stealthy Turkish troops crunching on freeze dried fruit made me laugh. 😆
I've been drinking tea lately, like im a tea drinker now, and i can say that when she said everything is better with a cup of hot tea, it is so true. I'll eat my dinner with a cup of hot tea and it's delicious. Doesn't matter what it is, a cup of tea goes wonderful with it.
At first I wondered how an MRE video would hold my attention for 24 minutes, but the time flew by it was so entertaining.
My favorite snack or breakfast is a peanut butter, honey and banana tortilla cut like sushi rolls!
Mmm gonna have my kids try this one.
You had me at pb and honey... will eat this tomorrow.
Also, Nutella on a tortilla and fold shut = chocolate taco.
Mmm I make those all of the time.. sometimes I use jam instead of honey .
For lunch we have "physics pilaf".... LOVE that translator!! I'd like to try physics pilaf. xD
Add some kinetic sauce and a pinch of quarks... form into quantum strings and.... oh, nevermind.... ;-)
I wonder what they tried to say. I can't think of the word they might have confused with physics.

I think the yogurt might have been to put over the chickpea /beef rice meal.
No. It is a soup.
They do eat yogurt with a lot of meals in turkey, but there also is actual yogurt soup.

Those stretchy filter pour over coffee thingies? They sell those at my local WalMart for a buck! Pity the coffee inside is so yucky.

More tea the better (im turkish) , you basically become a tea addict if you start drinking it at a young age😂😂
Instant coffee AND it's decaf. You might as well just put dirt in your mug with hot water.
It didnt look like instant, instant coffee doesnt need a filter
Beto eats dirt... supposedly has a "magic" function. DeCaf is another word for dirt colored dirt, with the flavor of dirt.

Love the ration segments, Emmy. I've got to get to Turkey to find some of those coffee filters for cups! Funny today I opened a dried soup mix and spilled half on the counter, also. Don't know how you find time to do all you do in a day. Thanks for the efforts, as ever. Entertaining!
oh wow, I want them coffee things for camping.
Mitchel I’ve never seen that kind of coffee filter thing but Folgers does make coffee bags. They are like tea bags but have coffee grounds in them rather than tea leaves. Definitely a better option than freeze dried coffee.
There‘s a German company called ‚My coffee bag‘ that sell these filters. Not sure about shipping outside of germany though. They also sell via amazon.de.
I got their advent calendar for my husband last year and he loved it, they work really well and it tastes like proper coffee. 😊
These are so fun to watch. I'm pretty sure that would feed me for a couple of days!
I would have added some of the main meal to the soupy broth! Make a heartier soup! Yum. Loved the coffee packet, super neat

Tortillas are meant to be eaten warm. As a Mexican I can never wrap my mind how people could eat cold tortillas.

After hurricane Maria, we were given boxes of these here in PR! I'm pretty sure they were US MREs. They were all pretty basic US meals and snacks. I loved the super big bags that had the breakfast, lunch and dinner! Now I know they are called 24hour MREs lol but I never once had an issue with the heaters. In fact they would burn me!

Jess Jess their peppermint one (something like mint magic) is divine but so hard to get in Germany! 😔
its good that they do a zipper seal on there, that way you can not only use it store the rest of the day of food, but can also use the bag to store your trash to take back with you if you were out hiking or camping.

Hi Emmy, there is a liquid that you can apply as a coating to your nagging scratches, Medtech New Skin First Aid Antiseptic Liquid Bandage, 1 oz, on paper cuts I've used crazy glue, and I've used clear nail polish in emergencies on nagging scraps that kept getting caught on things, but this New Skin is specifically made for skin. Of course, we can always slice a piece of papaya real thin and let it dry then apply, but that's another herbal tale.
"Everyting is better with hot tea" soooooo trueee 😋
