love how they included the shot of the dog. The way peace, mindfulness, contentedness comes to them is why my dog is my best friend and greatest mentor. The same as the cynics (their name sake comes from the word canine, derogatively as it were) and Diogenes taught.
To me, much of my Buddhist practice and meditation is to gain back what we lost so long ago as natural animals of this Earth.

I've had nightmares before, where I've woken up terrified. What helps, is to listen to the sounds of home (the fridge humming, or a neighbour's dog barking) and that grounds me and calms me. Also works for panic attacks.

Meditation comes from India. The Gita (Scripture) tells you how to meditate.
The Gita says: Thus, by always practicing to keep the mind fixed on Me, the yogi whose mind is subdued attains peace of Nirvana and comes to Me. (6.15).
The Bible also says: You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you.
Meditation is a synonym for trance, daydream, and dream. In the Bible, God and spirits come to people in dreams and trances.
The Gita also says: A person is said to have achieved yoga, the union with the Spirit, when the perfectly disciplined mind becomes free from all desires, and gets completely united with the Spirit in trance. (6.18)

You people have been taught by your parents to cherry pick lines from texts and stretch their meaning don't you?
Well let me tell U that in reality there is no spirit, or god. Its just you and your mind.
And what Krishna in Gita is telling Arjuna is to keep his mind fixed on parmatama (him) and kill his relatives. Otherwise he will not attain moksha. Its his duty to kill so he has to kill. Even if it's sin or not.
So Krishna teaching in gita has nothing to do with yoga poga meditation or whatsoever. Its actually related to killing your relatives.

Try to focus on the tip of nose, feel the breath in and out. If your mind start to wanders go back to focus on your tip of nose and feel the breath.
After your mind calm, try to feel the whole body from the top of the head to the bottom of your feet. Feel all the sensation of your body without interupt it.
I learned that (vipassana meditation) from the 10 days noble silence retreat and it was wonderful. I still meditate to this day (20 minutes after wake up and before sleep) 🙏

You don't have to be flexible or do anything with your body. Meditation is about the mind, you can still do it even sitting in a regular chair :)

Buddhism should be the world's only religion. It's a peaceful and accommodating religion.

All great advice but please know that how you sit is no matter to meditate as long as you are COMFORTABLE and body relaxed is all that matters , no truth to the lotus position or bust ..Xx🙏🏽🕉💜

Interesting - the Zen monks in Japan teach that you should not meditate with closed eyes, but rather with half-closed eyes, because you can either get very sleepy or start hallucinating. I wonder why there is such a difference in meditation practices, I suppose the Japanese version isn't vipassana.

There are many differences in buddhist teachings. Originally the Palicanon states that buddha meditated eyes closed. A great soto zen master (Deshimaru) once said that he thinks you can do both - eyes open if youre sleepy, eyes closed if your mind is turbulent. But normally you should have open eyes. A theravadan Monk said you should close your eyes but open it when youre really sleepy. I think those are both just different approaches. In the end it doesnt really matter since even the zen monks do not „look“ actively, just let the light come in. I personally find meditating eyes closed much more enjoyable but that might be bc I‘m thinking too much. But sometimes when I am really tired I let my eyes stay open. Zen is really into the „right“ posture also. While Theravadan only say cross legs and put oke hand in each other. But when you see deep meditating Monks there, you will notice that they sit very straight too. Its more like a „mind to body“ approach in Theravada and a „body to mind“ approach in Zen. Please notice that you cannot apart mind and body in buddhism its just how I would describe it in dualistic language.
